Already solved with installation via FTP. But I still want to know, why my problem is happened?
Hello bz,
Do you have updated your theme via FTP way? Otherwise, try to do it, clear all your caches, check your system status to be according to our documentation here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/install-via-ftp/ and check the results.
Hope this helps and let us know how it goes!
Thanks for your understanding!
Hello selejanalex,
Please disable all plugins except visual composer, clear cache and reset CDN files if you use it. Please also check any custom code you might have added to the theme panel or the theme files. If you use a child theme, please switch to the main theme to make sure it does not affect the proper functionality of the theme.
If this does not fix it, please try to reinstall the theme via FTP using this guide: https://forum.tagdiv.com/install-via-ftp/
Hope this helps and let us know how it goes!
Thank you!
Because for one-click in WordPress to update the updates need to be either on WordPress.org servers like the plugins hosted there are; or need to be done from the main WP panel, or a custom panel.
This doesn’t always work due to the differences in server “permissions” where sometimes the uploads folder is “owned” by the FTP user, but the WP install is owned by Apache/server — then it breaks trying to update.
MOST commercial themes on ThemeForest must be updated manually in this way. It’s not unique to this theme.
So, if you want to run a WordPress site, good to learn FTP as it’s the *ONLY* safe way to update your site. Seriously.
(I’ve been running WordPress sites for 12+ years and really – FTP is worth learning!)
Hi,
@adamatpaymentscm.com and @Stefan Please try to reinstall your theme using this method – https://forum.tagdiv.com/install-via-ftp/ and install only the plugins provided in the theme package. Also deactivate any child theme you are using, because some elements from the theme may have been subject to change and it could interfere with the functionality.
Thanks
Hi,
Disabling the plugins is very important in this case, because a plugin could be the cause of this, or a child theme, since the problem is not manifesting on our side. You could try to rename the plugins folder or just deactivate them one by one in the plugins section and checking to see if the problem is still there. If nothing works, please try to make a fresh install by FTP – https://forum.tagdiv.com/install-via-ftp/ and install only the plugins bundled with the theme. Also if the search issue is present after taking these steps, please contact us at contact@tagdiv.com and provide admin login information, and paste a link to this topic for identification purposes.
Thank you for understanding!
Please use this guide to properly update your theme: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/
The FTP method is the safest way to update.
Thank you!
You don’t really need child theme unless you are making changes to core code.
Best way to update theme and plugins is via FTP, as you download the files from Envato/Themeforest to your PC/Mac, then upload to server.
Allows you to make backup before update, in case you need to roll back, and you HAVE all the files to do the updates as both the theme folder, and the various plugins that you happen to be using with theme.
Anyway, that’s how I do it to avoid issues.
This theme is not hosted on WordPress.org — like most themes on ThemeForest you need to install via FTP to have it done properly. Good to learn, as it allows you to make proper backups, make sure you install plugins properly, and KNOW it has been updated correctly.
See the theme docs on how to update the theme. 🙂
I did an FTP update using the patch files and now I am receiving this error on the website:
wp booster error:
td_api_base::mark_used_on_page : a component with the ID: td_block_pinterest is not set.
/home/../public_html/../wp-content/themes/Newspaper/includes/wp_booster/td_api.php
Don’t use the Envato updater as it never works right on many server setups due to permission/ownership problems.
FTP is best way, and only way if you keep having problems.
Best to
a) keep track of changes
b) download new theme version
c) apply changes to core files in NEW version
d) delete old theme folder via FTP
e) upload new theme folder with changes re-applied via FTP
Also good to backup anything placed in theme panel text boxes or widgets into a plain text file for safe keeping.
Also good to have full MySQL backups.
(( I don’t work here. ))
Hello KoreniZivota,
It seems to be a bad theme installation. Try to make a new clean install from scratch via FTP way, clear all your caches and check the results.
Hope this helps and let us know how it goes!
Thank for the message!
Hi,
This is a strange issue, I suggest you disable all your plugins except Visual composer, clear the cache (very important) and try again to enter some code in the custom css section. Maybe some plugin is interfering with this field in your case. What about the other custom fields, is the same problem present? If nothing works you could try to make a fresh theme install by FTP – https://forum.tagdiv.com/install-via-ftp/ Please let us know how it goes.
Thanks
Hello WakeUpCallProject,
You should make a new clean install from scratch via FTP way and install only the plugins that come bundled with the theme core file and check the results. For more references about this method, please consult here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/newsmag-install-via-ftp/
Thanks for your understanding!
Meranda Devan
you likely want to start your own topic.
You can update the theme from the panel, but you need to download the theme zip from Themeforest, then install that zip by uploading from your hard drive.
Alternately, it’s wise to learn how to FTP, as this is the best method to upload theme update while deleting old folder, making backups of images, folders, etc., and uploading any plugins included with theme you actually use.
What did you recently update on your site to break it ?
it *cannot* just break on its own. Technically impossible.
Did you check your pages with F12/Console for errors?
Do you periodically clear transients and clean up dbase with something like wp-optimize?
Did you check your server error log for anything like hack attempt, system errors?
Did you check with your hosting provider for any server issues?
Did you check your website via FTP for any malicious software ‘hidden’ on there?
(( I don’t work here, just some feedback, using TagDiv themes for over 3 years now; and this never happens on our sites! ))
Also, good to check if you have a proper full site backup so you can “go back” to the prior day before it “broke” to repair it.
Hello Ginfox,
After trying to re-install the demo, you should check your system status parameters to be increased according to our documentation here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/install-via-ftp/ Also, you should check your server permission to be enabled so to be able to load data to your website.
Hope this help and let us know how it goes!
Thanks for your understanding!
Hello manuelcodiga,
Try to make a new clean install via FTP way and install only the plugins that come bundled with the theme core files and rule out any conflicting plugins. If the problem is still there after this, please send us an email at contact@tagdiv.com with your log-in information (wp-admin) so we can further inspect it closer your setup page. Provide there the link to this topic so we can quickly identify you.

Once you have updated WordPress, all you have to do is delete .maintenance file from your site’s root folder using FTP. If you can not see .maintenance file in your site’s root directory, then make sure you checked your FTP client to show hidden files.
In Filezilla, you can force it to show hidden files by clicking on Server » Force showing hidden files from the menu bar.
WordPress creates a .maintenance file during the update process which indicates that your site is in the maintenance mode. Unless this file is removed your site will remain in the maintenance mode and your users will continue to see the notification.
Hi,
Please try updating the theme using this guide – https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/ The surest method in this regard is by FTP – https://forum.tagdiv.com/install-via-ftp/ Also disable all the plugins except Visual composer and clear the cache. Hello odsonfb,
First of all, please check your plugin list and if you are using some untested plugins, try to disable all of them, leave just Visual Composer to active, clear all your caches and install only the plugins that come bundled with the theme packet and rule out any conflicting plugins. Also, if the problem is still there, I recommend you to do a new clean install from scratch via FTP way and check the results. For more references about this way of theme installing, please check here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/install-via-ftp/
Thanks for the message!
Hello zen,
Notice that the plugin version comes bundled with the theme core files. I couldnt update Visual Composer plugin from 5.0.1 to 5.1,
1. I deactivated from plugins and deleted the WPBakery Visual Composer plugin from FTP
2. I installed the plugin from Newspaper-tf/plugins/js_composer.zip
3. “To receive automatic updates license activation is required. Please visit settings to activate your Visual Composer. ”
Hello decentabid,
Do you have cleared all your chances after demo installing? You should do that, purge all CDN files if you are using the CDN system and check the results.
