You also need to update the VC plugin. Please use this guide to update the Visual Composer plugin and upload the plugin from the /plugins folder which was provided with the theme files and use the FTP method to do it: https://forum.tagdiv.com/update-the-visual-composer-plugin-wpbakery/
The VC version tested and included within the Newspaper theme files is version 4.3.5.
The theme was tested using the latest version of WordPress (4.1) and the VC plugin also so you can also update WordPress to the latest version without worries.

This file represents the css for the grid, that is why your site looks broken.

To use rtl you should localize your WordPress: http://codex.wordpress.org/WordPress_in_Your_Language
Install WordPress in your language then automatically the theme will use the rtl.
Search the forum for suggestion and fixes for the issue you may encounter with this and you should also consider that unfortunately we recently have decided that starting with the next theme update we will not include rtl support within the theme. You can still use the theme as it is but unfortunately you cannot updated it as you will lose the rtl support.

We use the ‘limit login attempts plugin,’ which is very helpful. Also make sure you delete your admin account for WP and change the super user to a different name.

I believe you change foobar to whatever you want to be your login location and any query to wp-admin directly would go to home page.
Don’t do stuff like this unless you know what you’re doing.
e.g., make backup of functions.php first, and know how to FTP this, and then how to remove it if you are unable to login.

What I often do, is open two windows on my PC
one folder is the new theme update, one window is old theme update;
I do “sort by date” which pushes the modified files to top.
Then I open the old one, and then the new one and make changes to match.
I also make backup for my custom CSS each time, do a full FTP backup, and do tools > export, each time, out of general paranoia.

Please make sure you use last theme version(4.6.1) and if you are not, update the theme using this guide and the FTP method: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme/ Also update Visual Composer plugin from the /plugins folder that was provided together with the theme files when you’ve downloaded.
After that please deactivate all plugins, leave only Visual Composer active and try again. Also make sure you empty cache and purge files if you use any CDN host services.

Please make sure that you disable html/css/js minify option as I’ve noticed you use it compressed and also disable plugins/ empty cache and purge files if you use CDN.
This should not happens if you use the latest theme version (1.4) as I have also checked this and haven’t found any issues with this, the fonts are loaded and rendered fine: http://screencast.com/t/1dSQ61HRb
If nothing solves this I suggest you re-upload your theme files via FTP using this guide: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-theme/ and make a backup of your current theme installation in case something goes wrong.

I have a problem with the display of my frontpage news.wuerth.at in ie11. it comes up normally in chrome on windows 8, but when i open the page in ie11 the background of the font of the main item changes to blue (should be red) and the three other items which should be to the right go missing.
could this be caused by the failure to install revolution slider so far?
i have tried uninstalling the plugin manually via ftp and uploaded the folder via ftp again, but now it does not show up in the plugins. any idea how i could change that?

I have also tested your site and found that the div container for related articles is added just no posts are loaded: http://screencast.com/t/wwbxWdYc
This means that after your posts go trough the query filers there aren’t any posts left to display and no post is loaded or the code is broken.
Either way I suggest you download and update your theme to the latest version which is 4.6.1 then check again. To update your theme please make sure that you make a backup of your current theme installation then use the FTP method from this guide: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme/ and also update the VC plugin within the /plugins folder following this guide: https://forum.tagdiv.com/update-the-visual-composer-plugin-wpbakery/

Hi, we tried to update the Visual Composer released via FTP and plugin upload. It will install fine, but when you try to get back onto the site or backend, you get a blank white screen no errors. We have to then delete or rename the plugin folder via FTP to get the site back up. Any input would be greatly appreciated, the CHANGE NOTES on Visual Composer are pretty lengthy and would be good to upgrade to this version.

The Visual Composer plugin is included in the theme’s files within the /plugins folder so you don’t have to buy it, as instructed in the guide provided by Alin above: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-visual-composer-plugin-wpbakery/ ..use the FTP method, deleted the plugin folder then upload the plugin from the /plugins folder that was provided along with the theme files which you’ve downloaded from themeforest. This was tested many times so you should not have any issues with it.
Regarding youtube playlist we suggest you disable all plugin empty cache/purge files (if you are using CDN host services) as I have found various js error in your browsers’s console which can cause this so I suspect that a plugin is conflicting with theme js: http://screencast.com/t/x9ksjStPR
Make sure you try all this and let me know if you still have issues afterwards.

Just one more question: Does this mean that after another Newspaper update I will have to change this all over again? I had the same thing with integrating social icons on the front page. I updated the theme yesterday and all my code was overwritten by the new version.

Hi,
If you can’t use the child theme to change the files you need you can do it manually and keep a log of you modifications like you’ve also noted and use the patch. Follow the theme changes log to see which files are modified and if the files which you’ve altered aren’t changed just copy the patch files via FTP.

@alezan If you take a look at the change log you will notice that the last theme update adds improvements, bpress support and also fixes bugs so it will be to your benefit to update it.
Please also note that updating will not affect the settings you’ve made to your theme, it will affect the changes you’ve made to the theme files though so I suggest you make a backup of your current theme installation then take note of the changes you’ve made to the theme files if you have done any then use the FTP method from the guide below and update your theme.
You can also use the patch if you update from the previous theme version and copy just the modified files but using it will also remove the changes you’ve made to the theme files if those files are among the one that have been modified during this last update.
If you have changes to the theme files you can use the child theme in the future to keep them as @Lukas suggested but please note that you will not be able to edit all files via Child theme, you can find here more info about this: https://forum.tagdiv.com/child-theme-documentation-newsmag/
