Hmm, I have made the prescribed modifications.
I added the code to the child functions.php file. This didn’t break things, but I can’t see that it affects anything. After adding the code to the loop-single.php and parts/single/loop-single-2.php which is the primary template we use, the post that has a guest author in the backend editor, is still displaying the #1 is still being substituted.
As co-authors/guest authors are a critical function in our site, and as the site is almost a decade of weekly news stories, changing is untenable. Without this theme update we cannot update php. Obvious problems there, including getting shut down by our hosting platform.
Can you please update your very helpful post of Jan 24, 2023 to encompass the NewsMag theme? Or what other options might we have?
The site has been working utilizing the Guest Authors feature of Co-Authors Plus. This required some custom code to get working. As we are required (security and PHP version) to update from NewsMag 3x to NewsMag 5x (repurchased the theme). This feature stack is no longer working. The guest author is selected in editor, but is not making it’s way to the front end.
I found this reply by Calin on this post https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/regarding-adding-multiple-authors-on-newspaper-theme/, regarding the Newspaper theme. However, it does not work with NewsMag (the multiple includes/ “/parts/single” was in the theme root for Newsmag but no longer exists. If you could modify this post with corresponding code for the loop-single.php file, that would be very helpful.

Interestingly, it only shows up on posts and not on pages. How can I fix this? Goal was to replace the Author byline widget with something that will read a custom field (Guest Author) because none of the existing plugins seem to play nice with Newspaper theme. Simply publishing a custom field also didn’t work because we wanted some logic about showing ‘Staff’ when no Guest Author was there.
We folloed the TagDiv suggestion and isntalled mologui plug to solve the issue of multiple byline and/or guest author. But now ‘author archives’ do not show the past stories:

when I disable the comments option from the WordPress setting/discussion the element ask the unlogged user to input their comment/name/email/website
However I do not want the unlogged users to add a comment.
I dont want unlogged users/guests to leave comment. and I dont want them to be redirected to your user/registration modal. how can I do that?
in the comment element where do I set the link to the login page I want (not your login/user modal)? I can’t seem to find that option. maybe im missing something here!!!

I have 3 different login pages.

https://www.commandeleven.com/login/ – which seems to be connected to a AR member plugin, based on the shortcode on the page. We don’t have AR member installed in our plugins.
https://www.commandeleven.com/tds-login-register/ – which I think is the TagDiv login page for the site.
In addition:
https://www.commandeleven.com/change_password/ – is completely blank, so I don’t know if this part of the TagDiv pages or not
If it is supposed to have content, please help me understand what shortcode or content should appear here, because there are no sections in the cloud template library for a change password page.

The newspaper theme has a lot of features. So much so that it’s difficult to capture all of the available features in one place. I discover features by going to your demos. It would be nice to see all available features in one place even if it’s a menu sytle naviagation.
With that said, I need help with the following three featues.
I installed the Town Talk demo and in the process of customising this theme. This theme has the option to bookmark articles. Is it possible to add a “My Bookmarks” tab that shows the visitors saved articles to the homepage section https://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper_towntalk_pro/ next to where you have Latesta nd Recommended?
Also, on the Town Talk post page there is a “reading line” the moves accross as your scroll through the article. I couldn’t find how I can do this. I would like to add this feature to all of my exisiting pages. Last, this might be the biggest question for me. I see that the Newspaper has a “Frontend Post Submission” feature, which is actually what I asked for. But I don’t understand how this works or find documentation on this.It would actually be nice to see a demo of this feature. Before I go looking for a service that does this, let me explainw what I need.
I need for a business/publisher/guest posting service to be able to submit guest and sponsered post. So they have an account, submit articles and images, once I approve the article, they pay via PayPal and then the article get’s posted. But I would for them to see from their account all of the articles they have submitted, paid for, and has been posted under thier account. Is this possible?
