Keep having appearance issues, particularly with the home page looking like a bad 2003 design home page and code showing. On another page it doesn’t display properly and it says “There has been a critical error on your website.” I’m at a loss. I have run a number of sites with WordPress for years and never encountered the constant problems that I have with Newspaper.
A week ago, only the home page wouldn’t display properly, but other pages were fine. I renewed my subscription to support in order to ask for help, and magically, the entire site started displaying properly, which was quite frustrating. I felt conned. I shouldn’t have to keep updating support to have the software work properly. Now, none of it is displaying properly. I got a message in the dashboard saying to update PHP, but it is up to date. Please help!

Hi folks,

I am using the Newspaper Theme and would like to be able to select the author manually on single posts. We often receive guest blogs from people who have a user profile, but do not log into WordPress themselves. We create the article on their behalf and attribute it to them so that their name/profile picture appears under the article. I can’t seem to find an option to do this, so do you know how I can enable this?

Hi, I have 4 questions about the author box :

1- I’d like to show an author box at the end of only some chosen posts, is it possible?

2- I understand that the image in the standard author box is necessarily the gravatar from the WordPress account of the author. If I want to show who is the author of a post written by an external writer, and I don’t want him to be a contributor on my wordpress website, I think that I need to create myself his author profile. How should I do to import his portrait (I’ve got the image as a jpg file) without editing his wordpress account/gravatar ?

3- When I click on the name of an author just below the post title, it goes to my homepage (exemple here: https://devenirbilingue.com/apprendre/anglais/cours-formation/certifications-danglais-laquelle-choisir/). I’d like to choose the URL where it goes, or to create an author page with all the posts from this author.

4- In some cases I’d like to replace the author name below the post title, by something like “Guest post”. For that I need to delete the word “By” in front of the author name. In the translations tab I can’t leave it blank. Is it possible to show only the author name with no “introductory word” ?

I keep getting the wp_booster errors while I’m logged into the admin panel and try to access older posts. The issue doeasnt occur while visiting the site as a guest.

When a guest goes to leave a comment, there is a field called ‘Website’. Can this be removed as many people do not have a website and it encourages spamming?

Any documentation on how to use the Guest Author feature?
I added a guest author and chose that author as author on a post. But in View it is still my used that is displayed as author?

Also, On the Author section at the bottom of the page, no biological info is displayed even though I added it to my profile? What is wrong? Does it have to be mapped to an actual WordPress User?

I expected the guest author to be a feature where authors don´t need to have a wordpress account. But that other editors can create the posts /articles and publish them under the Guest Authors name. Is this correct?

Is it possible for the guest to post on the website? not the comments, able to sign on the website and create the post.

I’ve taken on job updating an existing WP ‘magazine’ site with five years of existing posts, and decided to use the Newspaper theme to update the site.

I’ve created cloud templates to use for posts as there are several different areas in the site and I wish for them to look different.

Unfortunately I’ve discovered neither the Co-Authors or Guest Authors plugins appear to work anymore. The posts’ authorships default to a user admin when viewed on a category page. I’ve already scoured through the forums here, and it seems to be a flaw in the theme design where these PIs are incompatible with cloud-based templates.

There are literally thousands of posts with author names attributed to Guest Authors, as opposed to Users. To remove a guest author from a post, and replace with a User would have to be done manually on each individual post.

It seems very odd that a ‘Newspaper’ theme can not handle these plugins, or offer any solutions to this problem.

What would the TagDiv developers recommend I do?

I want to create self publishing portal. So my guest can become register as a Author after verify email and gets approved from admin. They can able to use front end dashboard to publish post. I publish articles by guest authors on my blog. I open a user account for each guest author and only give “edit_post” and “read” permissions. When users log in to the admin panel, they can list / add / modify Cloud templates (Cloud Library) in my blog. The previous day, a user entered here and accidentally changed and corrupted a cloud template. How do I disable for users to entering the “Cloud Templates” section?

Hi, I need the ability to add custom authors to my wordpress site. I oftentimes have one-off posts that really don’t need a user account to be created. Before Newspaper, I had followed these instructions to add a custom author to a post (Custom author link – https://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-tutorials/how-to-rewrite-guest-author-name-with-custom-fields-in-wordpress/). It gave me a custom field at the bottom of my blog post that I could fill in to override the author field. I’ve tried it now after installing Newspaper, and I don’t seem to have access to any of those custom fields?

How can I add custom authors with this theme without creating a new user?

If you register as a guest blogger on our site (top left) you will be signed in as a default ‘Contributor’ – https://www.agentdrive.com

The problem is ‘Contributors’ seem to have access to the ‘Cloud Templates’ which I don’t think they should. If they then click on edit template, the page just keeps on loading and nothing happens.

I just want to check there are no security issues and no one can break anything.

I try to import a weather widget. I go into youweather.com website in Widget tab and I create a widget code for my location.
Here is the code:

When I go and try to implement into my sidebar, I use Raw html element and I paste the code inside. Didn’t work.
I also try a Column text, I paste it into text. Didn’t work again.
I set the frameboarder=”1” and I see the boarder but not the weather inside the frameboarder.
I test it on my website at the follow link if you want to check it https://porto-rafti.gr/guest-post/ .
At the top of the sidebar before the search bar you see an empty area, and at the bottom of the sidebar you can see the frameboarder=”1”.

I say maybe the code is broken, so I open notepad paste the code and save it .html.
I open the file and work!
So the code isn’t broken.

Is there any conflict with the theme?
What can I try?
Give me any suggestion please.

I recently realized that the sign in link from the mobile menu has disappeared somehow.
Now, when i try to sign in from my phone, there is no sign in link from the hamburger menu.

I tried to look up the code and realize that the “td-menu-login-section” class has no code inside it that renders the mobile login link.

I referenced the original template,

Let’s suppose a user comes to the website and want to write a blog. Now can he do this on his own via Newspaper theme?
The customer creates a “User” account via which he can write blogs.
How can we create a user account which only has limited permissions?
I wanted to know the whole process. How to do this? Can this be automated or not?

Hi, I would like to know what is a good way for letting the user post their articles to my website, I notice there is an ‘author template’ in the theme, should I use multiple authors or guest post, and how to do? should I need to install another plugin?

I installed the Nature Love demo, and modified the first image.
But:
1) The image does not fit the size of the structure, although I tried with very large images (4000px wide), I tried to change the proportions of the sides (example: 1366x768px). No way.
2) At a check with the Google Lighthouse tool all the images, even those normally present on the subject, have the problem Properly Size Image: Serve images that are appropriately-sized to save cellular data and improve load time. Is there a compatible tool that makes an image resize? Regenerate Thumbnails plugin didn’t solve the problem.
