Font Size for Header Items, Excerpts - topic

I’d like to change the font sizes for:

– Category in posts: found the font, but how do I change the colored block to fit?
– Font size for the comments/views numbers at the top of posts
– Excerpt font size (and font) for the excerpts on the homepage

Non adsense ads: size probem in mobile devices - topic

Hi,
I do not use adsense ads, and ads code from my provider is not responsive. when I paste the orizontal 728 banner (in header) it displays well on desktop but it’s cutted on the right for tablet or mobile. How can i Fix That?

Hi,
Can you please tell me how to reduce the height of the homepage post block (td_homepage_full). I tried to add this code (picked up in forum):
.td-big-slide-background, body.single_template_4 #td-full-screen-header-image, .backstretch {
height: 700px !important;
}
The code only seems to reduce the image – not the homepage post block height.

Hi,

You can change header style to “Blog style – full text logo + menu” and I think that there wont be issues on moblie view. Any if you want to use Style 3 you can use this custom css:

Please go trough our documentation and see how you can create menus/headers.. and how to use theme’s features and please consider that you can also search this forum for answers as many issues/questions.. were resolved here which can help you.

Please also note that the main menu hasn’t been designed to be used on mobile screens so you might need additional customization to it.
Regarding the second questions, in the customization above I have removed the mobile menu button as I believe you don’t need it anymore.
The icons is added using the background-image property via css: http://screencast.com/t/k6hyD03kHex You can also alter tit via css and change it or enlarge it.

Did you add the items to your htaccess file ? Doesn’t look like it.

You need to do EVERYTHING ELSE before messing with the speedbooster plugin customizations, which are optional and entirely up to you.

You need to take care of ALL the other issues EXCEPT for “render blocking CSS/javascript” first or the latter will do nothing for your site. That step is done LAST to get the last couple of points, not the 25-30 points you’re down right now due to all the other issues that ONLY YOU can manage.

Web server optimization is up to you, and is related to optimizing WORDPRESS, not the theme. Tech support here is for the THEME, and not to teach you how to manage your web server … folks here are helping on that as time permits, but you have to take the initiative to LEARN how to do that — WordPress has been around 10 years — lots of tutorials on the web. “How to optimize WordPress for best Pagespeed” … simple search in Google, for example.

And all the links in this thread — SHOW YOU a number of things you should do, but you need to do that.

Nobody ignoring you — you need to fix your own house, that is YOUR job to tackle.

You’ve read the docs … well, now you need to actually *do* some of the guidelines or they won’t work.

Fix your htaccess file; make sure you have compression running, and expiration headers; optimize your images; minimize external elements loading on your site; etc. — ONLY YOU can do that stuff. If it means nothing to you, then you likely will need to hire a developer to help you.

Hi,

The logo issue you have is because you use a large logo img and which on mobile screens id set to a 180px width and behaves as in your case.
You can adjust it and make it look better via css, like this: http://screencast.com/t/vrjChmttUD67
You also need to remove or change the header color, use the css below and set the color as you like. It will have to be different form blue because the logo is also blue and different from white because the menu icon and search icon are also white.

Hi,

I also tested this and found that “top-submenu text color” doesn’t work and it doesn’t have an option for background submenu. I have added on our todo list and we will add it in next theme versions.
If you have referred to another issues with top menu please report this.

When using header style 4, the top bar goes full width and turns dark gray with white text. From that point, only the settings for link hover color work.

Can we get some settings to affect the colors used for that top bar in full width? Background and text color would be enough, plus the other settings already there.

You can use header styles 3 or 6, upload your logo at the size you want it as it’s set to be displayed and fill the whole containers width(max 1074px).

Hi,

Try to use !important as: .sf-menu > li > a:hover {border-bottom: 4px solid #4db2ec !important;} or a more specific selector to overwrite it like: .menu-td-header-container > .sf-menu > li > a:hover {border-bottom: 4px solid #4db2ec;} as using the same selector will not overwrite it. You can also use the main theme custom css filed from theme panel to add your custom css as updating the theme will not affect it and the changes you’ve made via custom css will remain after an update.

Thank you for the reply ChriS.But for me I only want to rewrite the title, using seo plugin is a so much waste. And,I don’t like that plugin:).I don’t think it is better for SEO than simply messing with <title> </title> in header.

When I used to do my own WordPress themes, I’d put in all the applicable coding and format in the header.php file and QED. However with modern themes with different kinds of headers, customizations, theme panels, etc., it can be a pain in the butt.

Frankly, I just use the Yoast WordPress SEO plugin the past 2 years, and this has worked perfectly for exactly what you’re trying to do. Really. If you only use it for that, it works very well. 🙂

Check your site with GTMetrix.com and then follow all the suggests, in particular gzip/deflate, expiration headers, image optimization, remove versioning, minify your style.css, don’t use child theme, use fast server/hosting, remove all themes and plugins you’re not using except the latest twenty-fifteen theme, optimize your wp-config.php file to include absolute paths to your domain name, optimize font loading, limit loading external elements (e.g., social counters slow down page vs simple share buttons), limit number of ad networks (I’ve seen some people with six ad networks each loading java, css, and tracking code…. it’s ‘bloat’), use a local image for gravatars, etc.

I cover a number of these issues in detail in the sticky pagespeed thread. Look for my posts, and probably easier to go backwards from the end of the topic, vs from the start a year ago! 🙂
