This works perfect on desktop but the title runs beneath the photo on iPhone landscape mode (when the thumbnail image jumps up to 150px in width).
How do I handle the screen size between iPhone portrait and iPhone landscape so that I get the proper right padding?
I’m also how would I turn on the excerpt for mobile sizes (below 768) for this block?
Thx!!
Thanks Bogdan B,
I did actually find this a while ago… but thanks for the reply.
It is a shame there is not a place where you can just ad in a image like a features image in a post, with a image picker. or better still the opportunity to include a several to be rotated at random.
My site will not cary adverts, but I would like to make use of this area to promote other sites etc.
Is there any recommendation on image sizes and does the theme resize acoring to screen size, or do I need to be very careful of that?
Great theme, easy to set up. Only problem is that it is generating a lot of images. Every time I upload one single image it makes several others of different sizes for different sliders, featured posts etc.
That being said, even though my website only has about 190 posts, i’m already at almost 13,000 inodes and at this rate my hosting provider will send me a notice in the near future. I looked through functions.php to see if I can make it stop creating images that I will never use such as sizes 341×400, 511×400, and 537×360, as I only use a few of the theme’s blocks. I haven’t been successful yet. Is there a way to make the theme less bloaty when it comes to images?
Thank you
Hi, in pulling the RSS feeds of various sources the images also get imported in various sizes. However by default they always show up in the Thumbnail size. Is there a way to change it so that they always default to the Full size?
Thanks
a) make sure you have featured image set for each post
b) make sure image sizes used for home page blocks are active in theme panel
c) make sure images can be loaded from Jetpack, which is notoriously buggy on many sites (meaning, if images work without jetpack, then there you go … !)
Just suggestions.
Hey,
I have the Newspaper7 theme installed on my website (www.republicannonpareil.com) and overall I am very happy with the theme.
I am having an issue with the thumbnails and the way that it is cropping them. It works well with most of the categories but for a couple of the categories, the way that it is cropping is not working right and optimally.
Under the “Obituaries” category for instance…Most of the featured images here are vertical in nature, so when it crops them to a horizontal layout, it is only showing the top part of their head.
My question is: Is there a way to change the thumbnail size for a certain category?
Or if not, is there a way to change the size of the thumbnails or how the theme crops the thumbnails?
Thanks in advance for your help!
-Kyle
Hi there! Just bought the awesome NEWSPAPER 7 template… great job guys!
I need some help with a couple of things:
1. No matter what size or resolution I use when uploading my logo images, the logo in the actual site (www.psl.ucr.ac.cr) will show unsharp, loosing a lot of resolution and almost pixelated. I tried it using the specific instruction in the documentation about normal and retina logo sizes; nothing worked (see the sharpness difference between the logo in my laptop and the logo at the site here: https://postimg.org/image/id9534rcf/).
2. In some of your theme demos, when using the Header Style 10 with the centered logo, centered main menu and top bar enabled, I can see a grey 1px top bar bottom border dividing the top bar from the header logo (see Wedding Demo http://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper_wedding/). Could you please help me enabling this feature again? I can’t figure it out!
That’s it for now. Thanks so much!
Fidel
Just as another follow-up, It seems that the issue might be arising from when I upload the images to WordPress. Most of the time after the image upload reaches 100%, that’s all it does, and the image is put into my media library, but even in the library, no thumb shows up. Just the default placeholder. However when I use the image in a post or as one of the larger thumbnails, it works fine, but it won’t show up as a small thumbnail.
The images that do seem to work at all thumbnail sizes are the ones that successfully “crunch” after the image upload. These images have thumbnails visible in the media library and at all other sizes around the site. The problem is that this doesn’t happen most of the time. Most of the time the crunching step is skipped or does not initiate. This seems like a WordPress problem and not a tagDiv problem, but I just thought I’d follow up.
Hello ahmedshawan,
Please keep in mind that our theme does not have any such an option that allows you to remove these types of sizes, sorry! The theme uses Blocks and Modules to display the featured images, right? So, the only method to disable the size of thumbs are from Theme panel, Modules&Blocks settings, like this -> http://screencast.com/t/x5ztLedId8X Also, if you are referring t this regard, here -> http://screencast.com/t/46510eFXukY
If is not what you mean, please provide more details.
Thanks for the message!
Hello
I want to remove 3 unnecessary image sizes created by Newspaper theme in my site
These images sizes are

180×180, 300×300, 600×400
In Block Settings I do not see the above formats so who is liable to create these image sizes.
I wanna remove these sizes since these enlarge my website backup files also takes more hosting space
Please help me out..
Okay, it went through all of the images and it didn’t seem to fix the problem. However, most of the resizes were errors. Only 261 out of the 774 images on the site were successfully resized. Still can’t see many of the thumbnails from new posts. Almost all of the Googling and forum searching I’ve done on this recommends using the regenerate thumbnails plugin, so I’m sort of out of ideas. Any further suggestions?
Hello bgo,
I have inspected your website, and I saw that you are using the module 1 to display the posts on the category page. So, I check your featured image, and I notice that the size of it is not right. Your natural image size is 108*300 px and the size of the thumb for module 1 is 324*160 px. Please keep in mind that you should have minimum 324px for image width if you want to bring best results. Notice that the theme thumbs only crop the image and not enlarge it. The image thumb crop from center to top the image and that’s why you have only the top of your image displayed in the thumb…the image is too short. Also, I have made a test with your featured image to my side, using the module 1 and the result is here -> http://screencast.com/t/nNRoZSTFChD and your result in here -> http://screencast.com/t/uxqeIqgKNS Your image it seems to be zoomed in and our theme does not do this. I think that you are using some plugin which enlarges the image. Please try to disable all the active plugins, leave just Visual Composer to active, clear all your caches and install only the plugins that come bundled with the theme and rule out any conflicting plugins. Also, please use some properly images according to our thumb sizes. For more information, consult here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/thumbnails-fix-strange-looking-images-on-blocks/
Hope this helps!

Hello raunakniroula,
I have inspected your website and I saw that you are using the Newspaper and you want to achieve the layout similar with Newsmag theme. The simplest way in this regard would be to install the Newsmag default theme. Otherwise, you should use the inspector browser and try it yourself to re-create the theme layout because we cannot provide additional customizations at the moment, sorry! Please consult this useful guide -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/create-custom-code-using-the-browsers-inspector/
For more information about the Featured images and the size of these, you should check the Theme panel, Blocks/Modules section and there you will see all the sizes, like this -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/newsmag-theme-thumbs/ -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/newsmag-category-tag-on-modulesblocks/
Thanks for the message!
I’ve compressed my image sizes so that they will load on mobile, and now one isn’t appearing on my homepage in desktop. I’m also having issues with an HTTP error when uploading images into the media server even though they are less than the memory limit.
Hello,
Well it’s best to keep the aspect ratio as close to the grid aspect ratio as possible so your images will not get cropped as much. The grid is almost square but your image is wide Here is a list of thumbnails used by our theme so you can have a general idea of the image sizes that will fit best: https://forum.tagdiv.com/theme-thumbs/
Also please regenerate your thumbs by using this guide: https://forum.tagdiv.com/thumbnails-fix-strange-looking-images-on-blocks/
Thank you!
Hello,
We are aware of this but the theme does not use those thumbs. You can set them to anything you want in the admin panel but they will not change on the post itself. Our theme will use different sizes for images, not the default wordpress image sizes. Sorry, but there is no simple way of using the image in the dimensions you want. The theme uses thumbnails that will convert the size of your images. We suggest using the images in their full size and let the theme use it;s default thumbnails 696 or 1068. Other thumbs will not position properly in the layout. Those are the layout borders so your images will fit properly along your text length.
Thank you!
Hello,
Our theme uses a thumbnail system that provides the image sizes for all elements in particular. Please check this guide https://forum.tagdiv.com/theme-thumbs/
Thnks
Hi,
Two things, for our website http://www.feelingsuccess.com, the images sometimes look distorted, as we had hundreds of images on the site before installing this new theme that were smaller than the thumbnail size. We’ve tried “regenerate thumbnails” plugin but it didn’t seem to work.
Also, even though our setting is set to randomize articles, for some reason they are not randomizing. Any support would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Darcy Hayer
Hello,
Unfortunately you cannot limit the thumb system just for the featured image. Sorry. This system will create the thumbs for all images as the theme has no sway of knowing which image you will use as featured and which one you will not. The thumb system creates the thumbs when uploading an image in the media library as that is the only way it can. You set it as featured after that step so there is no simple way of removing the image sizes for the other images. What you can do however to lit space on your server, is to disable any unused thumbs from the theme panel. Make an assessment of your site and write down the elements that you use and only use thumbs for those particular elements. You can use the guide you pointed to learn what module uses which thumb so you can deactivate the unused ones.
I hope this helps.
Thank you!
I am referring tagdiv https://forum.tagdiv.com/theme-thumbs/.
I’m bit confused here and wondering what is exactly resizing images into these multiple sizes. I uploaded an article with featured and content images after installing this theme. I saw all those images (featured and content) created into multiple sizes.
What plugin/theme part generating these thumb image sizes?
How can I limit these thumb images only for featured image?
I just installed NewsPaper and configuring with my existing blog. I turned on the image resizing into required size and working fine. My problem, this theme is resizing all articles images into this different sizes. Where can I resize only featured image? Where is the setting to resize only featured images and leave other content images as is?
I have the exact same problem.
My thumbs are all active and I did a regeneration with the “Thumbnail Regenerate” plugin but the theme keeps using the original images instead of the proper sized thumbnails for each block.
I am looking in the uploads folder now and I can’t see the needed sizes. It’s like it hasn’t generated them at all.
Can you give us a clue where the problem might be?
Thanks,
Mariyan
P.S. Also the thumbs from my old theme are still there. I want to delete those. Is there a way ?
Hello
I would like to ask you how can I combine windows together with a different sizes. Please see a picture.
picture
Where I would like to put a window BRANDY under windows WHISKEY AND BOURBON and then below BRAND put RUM AND TEQUILA windows. So if I would roll down page the third window with social counter, ad box and block 21 with be rolling down within you until last article in RUM and TEQUILA.
Next I would like to ask you how can I put image in the main menu? Thank you very much
I’m actually using Newsmag now, but very similar for some of the admin panel.
I think you can turn on the image sizes in the modules panel for theme? The section where you can turn on/off different images sizes for blocks/modules.
You can see one of my Newsmag sites on the “showcase” page … (the California one). Note the site just switched to Newsmag 3.1 from 1.7, and I have not yet fully optimized it (logo wrong size in footer, mod_pagespeed is off, critical CSS not yet in header, etc.).
TagDiv is in diff time zone from me — I don’t hang out here, but sometimes I have little iwndows of “waiting on some dumb server thing to run …” where trapped a moment or three; so poke my head into facebook, here, couple of the wordpress plugin forums I use, then pop back. So, sometimes I’m around, sometimes you won’t see me for week ot two ….
these days I just chime in if its something topical to what I’m actually doing, like the https stuff.
Hi everyone,
