Hi Guys,
A question, in trying to get VC working properly I deleted the plugin and reinstalled as of the latest version.
Then doing a test post I seen the VC buttons either backend editor or frontend editor.
The animations were still not working.
But now when i go back to edit a post only the classic editor is showing.
Should we have both front and backend editors like it shows on the Visual Composer site?
Darren
Hello, first time poster here. (loving this theme btw)
My issue is with custom cropping thumbnails. Please see these screenshots:
This is what the full image looks like (1:1 ratio – featured image):
https://docs.google.com/file/d/0BwLFxEIDQNO7eUJOZFRPdEhwdTg/edit?usp=drivesdk
This is what the thumbnail looks like:
https://docs.google.com/file/d/0BwLFxEIDQNO7RzdJRW9wb2h5UzA/edit?usp=drivesdk
So I cropped it using wordpress’ media tool to no avail:
https://docs.google.com/file/d/0BwLFxEIDQNO7YjYxX1RvVGx0NG8/edit?usp=drivesdk
I’m using latest chrome broswer, already cleared my cookies/cache, and installed the regenerate thumbnails plugin, ran it, still didn’t work. Deleted image, reuploaded new image, cropped again… still no change.
Nothing seems to be working as it still shows the thumbnail auto-cropped from the center. What am I missing?
Thanks a ton for any help.
Matt
Hi,
Also please check if you have on the new server the GD Library installed.
Thanks
I am installing the template but when I view with internet explorer does not display correctly
I am using internet explorer 10
This is the page I’m doing http://juegosde.bz/Pruebas/
Hmm. Tried installing it automatically again and this time it worked. For those that might have the same problem, if you follow the step by step instructions at https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-automatically-update-newspaper-theme/ I don’t think it’ll work. There’s a step missing – after 5. Update the theme, you have to select activate!
Yeah I know, bit of a schoolboy error but we all make em!
Seems to be working now. Phew!
Hmm – looks like my update seems to have removed newspaper and its now using theme twenty fourteen! very odd. Question still stands tho – any idea what happened – or how i can get back to Newspaper. I’ll try reinstalling it in a while and see if it works the second time.
Done this way, while I try to find the issue.
Thanks.
I would likely try simply unzip the plugins on your hard drive, then manually FTP to your plugins folder.
Hi, I get this error:
Error 503 Service Unavailable
Service Unavailable
Guru Meditation:
XID: 391304500
Varnish cache server
after a while, when trying to install the 2 plugins from “Private Repository” (Revolution slider and tagDiv social counter). Non error appears in log file.
I also get the same error when installing the theme demo, but some content is installed anyway and here I get this error in log file:
(104)Connection reset by peer: mod_fcgid: error reading data from FastCGI server, referer: /ttp://www.example.com/wp-admin/admin.php?page=td_theme_panel
(104)Connection reset by peer: mod_fcgid: ap_pass_brigade failed in handle_request_ipc function, referer: /ttp://www.example.com/wp-admin/admin.php?page=td_theme_panel
At the moment my hosting provider can’t find any other error or a timeout problem, do you have any solution?
Thanks a lot
Hi, same problem here; in all posts breadcrumps are: Home > Post name (missing category).
Do you know how you solved it?
Some more info:
– theme version is 3.9.1, new installation;
– in homepage breadcrump is Home > Blog;
– if I add Yoast SEO code for breadcrumps the category name appears;
– i also tried deactivating all plugins (including one to remove category base from permalinks); same thing as Peter happened: WPBakery is now showing to update to Version 4.2.3.
Thanks
Hi Lucian 🙂 No I do not have a plugins for that installed. I tried deactivating all plugins as well, but that did not work. Any suggestions?
Hello,
I have an issue – when I upload images, the image is uploaded but not resized. I have checked and the GD library is installed. When I try with a standard WP theme, it is working.
My version of Newspaper: 3.9.1, WP 3.9.1, WP Bakery 4.2.2
When I use regenerate thumbnails, it is producing the desired sizes, but I need to produce them already during the initial upload.
Any advise?
Hi,
Please try to localize your WordPress install to Greek language. http://codex.wordpress.org/WordPress_in_Your_Language
This should fix the problem.
Thank you
Hi,
Please go to Appearance -> Widgets and check the top-right (social) sidebar http://screencast.com/t/tNUMZTACJ
Thank you
I reinstall the theme, still getting this http://i.imgur.com/OIyy8qk.jpg
Do. You see how one has the / at the end and the other one doesn’t
I downloaded and installed the theme & child theme.
After installing the demo data and activating the child theme, all pages look like this: http://screencast.com/t/Ww6tgvvR
They have an extra header above the logo. However, when I activate the main theme, it disappears.
I just install the theme Newspaper (well done, really good).
But if I edit a post (when I activate the WordPress “screen options” custom fields),
only some of the custom-fields appear. Some are missing on the screen even if they exist on the database.
What should I do to be abble to see all the custom field on the wordpress admin panel (like on my old theme). Do you have an idea why some of them doesn’t appear ?
Thanks in advance
Looking forward to read you
Great job.
I know it makes the test on server-side, thanks for your interest. Can you or anyone also let me know about my REAL pagespeed score? I have just installed a plugin called jQuery Colorbox and tried to edit speedbooster to not lose my high score.
developers.google.com/speed/pagespeed/insights/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fkadininrehberi.net%2F&tab=mobile
I’d be glad if you could click the link and write my score here.
Ok, but if you take a look at the picture http://i.imgur.com/blf4XzG.png
one without / and the other one with / .. 404 soft error is like duplicate content or something like that. I uninstall the theme and upload the newest update of Newspaper but still getting this problem
Hi. I install WP total cache as you recommend and I use only page cache. But this some problems in my website and I deactivate it.
I read here in the forum that am not the only one who has problems with wp total. Some of the users activate wp super cache and they seems satisfied. I ll istall it but first I want to ask. Should I choose some spesific options for the theme to work properly or should i follow the general instructions of the.plugin?
The way this theme handles css is far from straightforward(not that there’s anything wrong with that!) It loads 2 different css files (3 if you have a child theme) as well as inlining a ton of styles from the Theme Panel in the header or footer depending on if you have the td_speed_booster plugin installed.
Depending on your Layout setting in the Theme Panel it will first load one of these files: td-bootstrap.css, td-bootstrap-980-not-resp.css, td-bootstrap-980-responsive.css or td-bootstrap-1170-not-resp.css. These are all compiled by TagDiv manually, using some combination of the Less files found in /Newspaper/includes/wp_booster/external/bootstrap/bootstrap-master/less.
If you have a child theme, it’s style.css will load next.
After that, it will load the theme style.css, which is compiled by TagDiv from the Less files located in /Newspaper/less_files.
The last step is to inline all of the styles that are defined in the Theme Panel. This is handled by 3 files, td_css_buffer.php, td_css_compiler.php and td_css_generator.php which are located in /Newspaper/includes/wp_booster. The td_css_generator.php file is where the Theme Panel option rules are hard-coded, the td_css_generator gets the settings from the Theme Panel and sends them to the compiler which then pushes the compiled styles to the td_css_buffer which writes them in the <head> or to the the td_speed_booster which loads them somewhere between the closing #outer-wrap </div> and </body>.
The theme has an on-the-fly compiler that can be used with the Less files in the less_files directory, you just go into /Newspaper/includes/wp_booster/td_config.php and set the Deploy Mode to dev instead of deploy. This will replace the theme’s style.css with the output of the less compiler.
This is problematic though, because this is only for development and once you have edited your styles, you cannot use that compiler to create a new style.css file to replace the old one(it outputs errors). You have to use a different compiler to get your final css file, because you can’t use the live compiler in production. This also does not affect the bootstrap or the hard-coded Theme Panel styles.
I’m using IDEA13 with the Less plugin and I can compile the main.less into a style.css that replaces the default one just fine, however I have not been able to do the same with the td-bootstrap.css. I need to figure out what magic combination of files in the bootstrap Less files will output the same td-bootstrap.css file that ships with the theme. Perhaps one of the TagDiv guys can shed some light on how that file is compiled?
Good afternoon.
I have the multilanguage plugin WPML installed, together with the WPML String translation in order to translate all the english texts coming by default in theme.
However, most of these strings are not detected so I can’t translate them.
Is there any plugin that integrates newspaper with WPML.
I’ve read that you recommend to use qtranslate, with qtranslate would be possible to transalte the theme texts?
Thanks
Just installed and optimizing for my web site. I’ll share my opinions later. Nice work guys keep it up. :O)
Speed Booster Pack
This plugin is a all in one that will give you that 95% score on Google PageSpeed, YSlow, Pingdom and GTmetrix.
The plugin comes with some great features like:
1. Moves scripts to the footer to improve page loading speed.
2. Loads javascript files from Google Libraries rather than serving them from your WordPress install directly, to reduce latency, increase parallelism and improve caching.
3. Defers parsing of javascript files to reduce the initial load time of your page.
4.Removes query strings from static resources to improve your speed scores.
5. Removes extra Font Awesome stylesheets added to your theme by certain plugins, if Font Awesome is already used in your theme.
6. Removes junk header tags to clean up your WordPress Header.
I’m using this plugin as well and it really help removed the rest of those files in render-blocking CSS and JS files.
With this plugin you will not need the other plugin ““Query Strings Remover”…
The plugin name is “Speed Booster Pack” by the author tiguan
You can download this plugin via the wordpress website @ this url

Thanks.
