Also please make sure that you have the last version for theme ( Newspaper v9.6.1), if not please make a theme update.
Thank you!
Hi bestofseattle,
Once a memory has been increased, this one will be the same after the theme update. Yes, your WP Memory should be as big as possible if you want to have good results.
Thanks for the message!
Hi,
We have many plugins install. But I don’t understand why display 40mb for wp memory when is set 256mb as you see in previous image.
Yes, the problem with tagDiv Cloud Library persist.
Thanks for support.
Hi,
That is quite an an old theme version from which you are updating. Here you can find a changelog for each theme update, to see what has been modified, new features etc
– https://themeforest.net/item/newspaper/5489609 (bottom of the page).
This would be the only guide that we created for updating the theme
– https://tagdiv.com/update-newspaper-theme/
The theme requirements guide has been updated as well, please check it carefully and if necessary ask your hosting provider to increase the values of the parameters mentioned in it
– https://tagdiv.com/newspaper-theme-requirements/
For the WP memory we recommend a value of 256M. Having low memory may cause such problems, or if using an older PHP version. You can see the values in the theme system status
– http://prntscr.com/n0dwzx
After the update, deactivate/delete all the old theme plugins and install the new ones from the theme package plugins folder.
Update WPBakery (if you used it), the theme package contains version 5.7
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-visual-composer-plugin/
Note that the tagDiv composer introduced in version 8 of the theme, will automatically be installed and activated – https://tagdiv.com/tagdiv-composer-page-builder-basics/
Since update 8 this is the main page builder in the theme, WPBakery is still provided in the them package however, for users that want to keep using it.
Maybe consider making a copy or clone of the website (local or in sub-domain) and test there. Update there first and see what happens. Let us know if you have more questions.
Thanks

Hope this helps!

The cloud library seems to work alright at the moment, may have been something temporary with the servers. Let us know if you have any further problems with it.

NEW PROBLEM: Does WP take long to recognize the update?
I’m still seeing: “40 MB/request – We recommend setting memory to at least 128MB. The theme is well tested with a 40MB/request limit, but if you are using multiple plugins that may not be enough. See: Increasing memory allocated to PHP. You can also check our guide here.”
I got access to the server and downloaded the wp-config.php file. I opened it with wordpad and did not find “WP_MEMORY_LIMIT” anywhere in the file. Am i missing something? Where exactly is it located?
Thank you Calin. I see that Simon also emailed me.
I have done some troubleshooting prior to my messages. My php memory was set at 256MB and I complied to the majority of the other points referred to regarding minimum requirements.
What was an immediate solution was in fact the php version from 5.5 to 7.2. It was an instant solution on almost all issues i experienced.
Tagdiv composer works.
Website on desktop is back to what it was.
Mobile is almost 100% just the advert art that is missing, but i will be uploading my own so that should be resolved.
I did update to 9.6.1. Thank you. This worked perfectly this time and I added the WP Cache and activated AMP and naturally did the settings as prompted.
So I want to say thank you very much for helping and assisting. I am really very happy and impressed with the detail to response from both Simon and you.
Here is a link if you have the time to look at the page. http://www.backstagemanagement.co.za/wordpress There is still loads of tweaking to do and changes to make, but we are almost there.
two things:
Is it possible to make the social share and follow buttons all round on mobile and desktop. The share buttons on a post i have made round “top of post” and “bottom of post” is there anywhere else to do this?
Thank you again. I am very relieved!
Marius
Hello,
i had Newspaper on my webserver and everything was ok. now i have another theme on the website and wanted to install Newspaper on my Synology NAS. Unfortunately this is not possible, I get the following error message:
Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 134217728 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 83 bytes) in /volume1/web/wordpress/wp-content/themes/Newspaper/includes/wp_booster/td_util.php on line 1682
What could be the reason? I want to prepare Newpaper in the long run for a free press on my NAS and then bring it to a web server.
Thanks

That seems to work without the huge memory setting. The page still loads a bit slow on sites with a lot of posts, BUT… it loads, AND the button shows up.
You guys gotta get this released in the next update.
Thanks for the help. Note that a bunch of my other problems went away with this fix, so maybe tell your support team that this fixes the missing button problem and error 500 loading of cloud templates problem too (It might help others).
Thanks.
I’m pretty syre I found the problem, it’s memory. I made another post here about memory where I can reproduce the error 500 and the missing button depending on how much memory PHP is allocated.
There is an “Add” button in the menu where you show your screenshot, but it adds a wordpress template and does NOT open the Cloud Template library.

The mobile theme is a plugin that provide you a better speed then responsive version of theme, but in order to achieve that speed you’ll need to use for pages that are made with builders ( tagDiv Composer, WPBakery ) only the classic editor also for mobile theme the content for pages need to be set in mobile editor -> https://www.screencast.com/t/ebUIzt4se
Mobile Theme: Automatic Optimization for Mobile with Newspaper Theme -> https://tagdiv.com/mobile-theme-automatic-optimization-for-mobile-newspaper-theme/
If there is still a problem an you want to go back to version 8.8 you can send us an email at contact@tagdiv.com , Include a link to this topic in the email, and ask for that version of newspaper.
Thank you for your understanding!

Hi,
I think that php 7 will be enough, also that 40mb for wp memory will work only if you do not have no plugins install.
The problem with tagDiv Cloud Library still persist?
Thank you!

I actually just documented the problem in great detail. It’s reproducable:
https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/cloud-templates-requires-huge-amount-of-memory/#
I found this to be an issue also. We have a massive server, but when I try to use the Cloud Library, it’s a huge memory hog. It’s frustrating because we have to use this if we want to have the infinite loading for Single Posts.
I don’t understand why the developers can’t just add an ‘auto loading status’ in the theme panel rather than making us have to create a whole new template. This is included with many other themes out there, and since Cloud Library is creating a memory issue, hopefully they will rethink this.
I have a number of other issues reported, but I think I’ve tracked down the overall problem with Cloud Templates.
On some sites Cloud Templates loads just fine and shows the “Add New” button.
On some sites Cloud Templates loads, but do NOT show the “Add New” button.
On some sites Cloud Templates just errors with error 500.
I tried the advice you provided on another ticket to increase memory, and I found that when I increase memory, the more I do that, the more sites starts working. In fact, the memory required increase proportionally to the number of posts I have on my sites.
- Site with 100 posts seems to always work, and the Cloud template page loads fast.
- Sites with 100-8000 posts works with 256M
- Sites with 8-1000 posts can load the cloud templates at 256MB, but does not show ADD NEW button until memory is increased to 512M, then the Add New button appears. Note that at 386M the button does NOT appear
- On a site with 65,000 posts, I don’t have enough memory to get the button to show up, but at 4096M I can get the Cloud Template page to load.
So, The FIRST thing that works as I start adding memory is the page starts loading again. As I add more memory, the “Add New” button starts working again later.
So, clearly, the amount of memory required from the Cloud Templates depends on how many posts the site has, which is a huge problem. If I was to guess, it’s because your “used on” column checks all the content, but inadvertently uses a TON of memory.
If you can fix this in a new release I think you could solve a bunch of other problems I have (And others will have), where the Cloud Templates won’t work on large sites.
UPDATE: If I set the memory limit in PHP to 2024M, then it loads without an error. But that’s obviously an outrageous amount of memory. It also takes about 30 seconds to load the page, and I only have ONE template in there…
That didn’t help, tried 386M.
That’a s lot of memory just to make one theme work btw, that could limit my server capabilities visitor throughput.
