FIXED! Changed the theme accent color. Now just need help with mobile font!
Hi, I am using the mobile theme and it works great! I appreciate how you added a special block on the page admin to insert specific elements for the mobile pages. I am just curious about the functions.php file; I had to add a function to it so that my shortcode would work in posts displayed in the mobile theme, so I created newspaper-child/mobile/functions.php and added the code there, but it turns out I had to do it in newspaper/mobile/functions.php, which is fine except that your next update is going to wipe out my change. Is there a way to do this in the child theme so that my mods are retained following a theme update? Thanks for any guidance you can provide.

Hi there! I upgraded the Newspaper theme last weekend to version 7.6.1 and started using the mobile theme. It works great, and the speed has impressed me.
Things have been almost completely normal, but sometimes when I load the site using a computer, the mobile version shows up. It has happened to other people too, and a screenshot can be seen on the link below. I don’t use any cache plugins, but I think there’s caching on the server side.
Do you know what might be causing this? Thanks!

Unfortunately, our theme does not have any such an option that allows you to change the fonts only for mobile devices, sorry! This task can be done using a bit of CSS with media queries. So, if you will have more assistance in this regard, please provide your website URL so I can inspect it closer and also, so I will be able to provide a more accurate response/code.

At the moment I see you don’t have the mobile plugin activated. A possible solution for the problem you are having is to deactivate all your plugins except Visual composer and the mobile theme, because this could be caused by a plugin or plugin conflict, clear the cache and purge cdn files. Then check to see if the problem is still there. If not go ahead and activate the plugins one at a time to identify the one causing this issue.

Currently I have only TagDiv Default demo content on my site.
When deactivate WP Super Cache, loading site to mobile phone/tablet works OK.

That is the case if you choose to use the mobile theme, a choice made for increased performance. Like the guide explains you can use the theme without installing the mobile theme plugin, and it will display the same elements from your page on desktop on mobile devices.

Please keep in mind that your theme does not have any problems regarding on Sidebar and Ads, sorry! As you can see, the theme is fully responsive and for mobile devices, the Sidebar will fall down at the bottom of the page. I do not know where is the problem. Please provide more details about what you mean and also, provide your website so I will be able to provide a more accurate response. Furthermore investigations, I found a solution. Please find out what the category ID is of your featured category. Say for instance that it is 26.
Now, inside of Newspaper\mobile\front-page.php you will find code around line 67:

Make sure to add:
‘category__not_in’ => array( 26 ),
to the end of the array so that it looks like this:

I’m dying for the answer to this issue because i have a site with a lot of visitors and i really (really!) need the cache to work.
The plugin is caching the desktop theme pages and showing them instead of the mobile theme pages. I recently read that you know of this issue and recommended the makers of WP Super Cache to make a change/adjustment in their plugin.
Would it be an idea to publish the recommended change/adjustment so we could alter the plugin ourselves so we at least would have a working cache plugin?
when i install reccomended cache plugin, my mobile version is tottaly different.. i cant use mobile version-the colors are different…
is there any other cache plugins that works perfectly with the newspaper mobile version.. ??

Thing is – i havae about page etc – pages. just read they do not auto input into the mobile theme
Page builder elements – The “Mobile theme” is designed for users who want to optimize the page content for mobile devices or they want to display fewer / different elements on mobiles. For optimal performance we removed the page builder (Visual Composer) dependency; this means you cannot use the page builder elements for the “Mobile theme” pages. If you want to display the same elements on both mobile and desktop, don’t use the mobile theme, the main theme is already capable of this with it’s responsive design for mobiles.

My site is videosupporters.com and it has a lot of embeded videos, so I installed the plugin ” WP YouTube Lyte” to “lazy load” of videos (note: I don´t have installed the mobile theme of Newspaper because it makes that a important part of my site doesn´t appear in the mobile devices, and besides the responsive Newspaper works fine).
After installing that plugin, the speed of the site at desktops improved significantly.
However, it didn´t happen nothing in the mobile devices, in spite of having added the code that the plugin advices:

The developer of the plugin can´t find the origin of the problem, although recognizing that the videos (on the homepage) are not “lyte”.

Hi,
The mobile theme plugin is an optional plugin, you can choose not to activate it and the theme will display properly on all devices do to it’s responsive design. Also it could be mentioned that the mobile theme comes with predefined templates for the homepage, posts and categories, and if you want to display the same content from desktop on mobile you should simply not use the mobile theme. I have checked your website and I saw that you are using the mobile theme plugin. If you are using this plugin for mobile viewport, this is normal behavior because the Mobile Theme does not recognize the Visual Composer shortcode.
I suppose that you do not understand very good how mobile theme works, right? So, please notice that this theme concept intend to display a Big Grid feature at the top of homepage which shows the posts which are included in Featured category, then will show a text which you added in Mobile Editor in Visual Composer from backend and at the very bottom of the page you will bring the Latest Articles module. Please keep in mind that the Mobile Theme do not recognize the Visual Composer shortcode and that’s why you did not get the demo style for mobile theme. So, for more information about our mobile theme, please check the documentation here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/the-mobile-theme/ If you are unhappy with this layout, and if you want to have the similar structure with our demo mobile, you will simply turn off the mobile plugin and the theme will be automatically switched to the general responsive mobile mode.
