Hi Vlad,

Thanks for your links, unfortunately, they do not fit. What I’m talking about is the optimization of AMP-posts that are already set up with AMP Newspaper Theme. The posts on AMP are very fast loading, but only 88% – 90% in Google Lighthouse Pagespeed tool. So there is a way to improve to score 100% with AMP Newspaper Theme. One point they recommend/ warn is:

Provide images in modern formats 0,45 s possible load saving
Image formats such as JPEG 2000, JPEG XR and WebP often offer better compression than PNG or JPEG, enabling faster downloads and lower data consumption. Learn more.

How can this be achieved with AMP Newspaper Theme? (No changes to rest of the site, only in AMP)

In Google Pagespeed Console I get the following critical warning:

Make sure that the text remains visible during web fonts loading.
You can make use of the CSS function “font-display” to make sure that the text is visible to users while web fonts are being loaded. Learn more.

How can I fix this within Newspaper Theme AMP?

Hi Vlad,

Thanks for your reply! Now I understand, the Google Pagespeed Module activated on our server (to optimize images in the frontend, original .jpg) doesn’t optimize the images on AMP. This might solve the problem. BUT

The reason why I activated this module is, Google came up with the following warning:

Provide images in modern formats 0,45 s possible load saving
Image formats such as JPEG 2000, JPEG XR and WebP often offer better compression than PNG or JPEG, enabling faster downloads and lower data consumption. Learn more.

How to achieve this on your AMP? Can this be optimized by the theme AMP? I want to score 100% pagespeed not just 88%.

Hi,

Please make sure that you do not have a plugin conflict, please deactivate all non theme plugins, also if you are using child theme or cache plugin, please deactivate them, clear all cache and try again.

Please notice that the speed of your website depends on how well your site is optimized.

Notice that is not a simple task and if you do not have any experience in this regard you will do not bring good results for the theme. Also, notice that we have a speed optimization tutorial but this is addressed only to advanced users. It seems like it is not properly working. It shows randomly the AMP version on desktop (Google pagespeed insights shows that error https://imgur.com/a/sUEFj0O)

Can you help me to debug that problem?

Hi there,

Since the last 2 updates the site is performing excessively slowly. The Google PageSpeed Insights score has dropped from 60’s/70’s to incredibly low – 5.

https://developers.google.com/speed/pagespeed/insights/?url=theirishplace.com

Any advice how to fix this. I have tagDiv Speed Booster installed… the site runs through cloudflare as well..

Hello,

These could be symptoms of low memory allocation. Please make sure you increase your WP memory and php version and memory as well.
Please follow this guide https://forum.tagdiv.com/requirements-for-newspaper/ and make sure everything in the system status is green.
Also you could make use of a the following guides:
https://forum.tagdiv.com/cache-plugin-install-and-configure/
https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-make-the-site-faster/
https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/score-100100-pagespeed-with-newspaper-wordpress-theme/
https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/newspaper-theme-speedify-your-website/
https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/tutorial-chriss-custom-optimizations-for-functions-php-etc/

We also recommend this Cloudflare configuration
https://forum.tagdiv.com/cloudflare-cdn/

For speedbooster you can disable the compatibility check like so:
https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/tinymce-advanced-and-other-various-disabling-speed-boster/
Please also test without third party plugins as we have seen significant speed drops with certain plugins.

Thank you!

Hi,

Google recently changed their algorithm so comparing your current score with an older one is no longer valid. The demos page speed score have dropped as well.

Hello,

So I’m using the recent theme (Newspaper 9.5) and check with pagespeed.

My score is 44 (mobile) and 67 for (desktop). Is this normal? I remember having 85 mobile and 90 desktop last summer.

I am using the mobile plugin as it helps with the speed but in this case, no.

What’s your pagespeed score?

Thank you very much for the answer, it helped me a lot. Everything works fast and has a very good result in google PageSpeed Insights.

I have one more question I can not run the script in mobile editor.
This is financial ad in the form <script type=”text/javascript” src=”https://api.systempartnerski.pl/2.0/widget/rxZ3jB9G5Uuww1W39yx/”></script&gt;

I want to run it in mobile editor of https://serwisfinansowy.pl/kredyt-konsolidacyjny/
I tried five different plugins to run php and scripts in wordpress but nothing works :/

I’ve add in the cloud header an image ad https://labussolanews.com/.
It works on all device but, on mobile, i had to create another ad box with a different ad size (why the header doesn’t load on mobile? I had to create a different header for the mobile. Does it work separately?).

the strange thing is that it seems that the ad image I inserted for desktop and tablet, is also loading on the mobile, despite having ticked the “hide on phone” option. I created a separate ad for the mobile that works perfectly but I don’t understand why the other is loaded anyway.

This is displayed on google PageSpeed Insights which tells me that the .gif is slowing down the mobile view (but i’ve hide it on mobile).

then I always have the problem that google page speed gives me very low performance (about 22) on mobile, which is why I would at least want to remove this useless upload…and maybe some advice on how to optimize the page because I don’t seem to have over-loaded the site …

Don’t tell me to activate the mobile theme because at the moment it is useless, because it remove to much things…

How can I improve my page speed on my mobile site? By deferring CSS and JS, and minifying CSS.

Desktop site is fine.

I am on Version 9.5.

Thanks!

I modified all to be able to load WebP images, and I did it!

I got a 100/100 score in pagespeed. But I need a plugin to enable the caching of that type of images in browsers, I use Cache enabler (Only for that, I use WP SuperCache for all the config).

When I activate the Cache enabler plugin, the mobile theme doesnt work, what can i do?

I think its something important, the future are this type of images, and its a lot faster.

Thanks!
