Hi there,
I have installed ‘Fast News’ demo and’featured image’ placeholder on the post setting is missing. I tried classic view, the sidebar doesn’t show up. Logins are below:
Could you please let me know?
Thanks
Angela
1. Mobile theme has a very small number of options in admin panel. Which makes it difficult to control the appearance.
2. AMP is not 100% functional. It would be better to add complete AMP support.
3. Design of my website is messed up in safari. (https://modo.pk)
4. It would be great if you can start rating as an option to individual templates it is a great option for posts like recipes. It needs to be added as an option to comments module.
5. It would be great to have post categories covers/thumbnails.
6. Too Many fonts setting based on this and that which makes it difficult to work with. A website should have similar user interface and type settings across the site. I am not sure if someone else needs these kinds of tons of options to go through every time you change your mind to change the font. Maybe grouping them into headings>post headings>category headings>Then body font that should do it. But if it is the requirement some other individuals it is completely okay to leave things as they are.
7. Search cloud custom template is not working. But the built-in template works fine.
8. A smart list custom template is not working because it places it in general templates which don’t work. Plus there is only module to control the smart list setting which is not sufficient. Maybe you need to do something about it, just not sure yet. I will post once something comes in my head.
9. Tooltips: They look great as well they make the site standout best use of the tooltips could be difficult words meanings, external/internal links, and Acronym/Abbreviations.
10. Last but not least. The print: I tested this on a custom template which prints like an entire page. Including social icons, tags, post images (only placeholder space), related posts, and breadcrumbs which is too much.
Here is how it should work: Title + featured image + content + name of the site/URL in the footer. That should be it.
Hi,
1. You could translate that in the theme panel, translation settings
– http://prntscr.com/mxreyb
2. If that placeholder is displayed it means that the post has no featured image
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/featured-image-or-video/
This means that all modules in blocks and grids will display a placeholder image
– http://prntscr.com/mxrgud
It would be best to try and set featured images for the posts, so that the module can display this image instead of the placeholder.
Let me know if you have more questions.
Thanks
Hi,
If you want to change the Featured Image Placeholder, you need to change the images from here -> https://www.screencast.com/t/zFo59GS038Very important is to maintain the same image title. Clear all the caches, purge CDN files and check the results.
Thanks for your understanding!
Had to change ‘featured image placeholder’
Hello,
I’m using Post Template Style 3, which overlays the post title on top of the featured image. Many of my posts do not have images. How do I change the configuration so that when posts do NOT have a featured image:
– No background image displays
– Post title, date and other meta text is black (on regular white background)
This should be done without affecting Style 3’s layout when a post does have a background image.
Screenshot here for reference:

Thanks for any input.
Hello, team tagDiv.
I embedded MailChimp form in my template. Everything’s fine but I wanted to change some colors so that my form can match with my theme.
There were three colors that were not changing.
1) Input placeholder color.
2) Input background color.
3) Input border color.
Please see this image for more clarity.
With site accelerator on in Jetpack, the Instagram element only show placeholders which if clicked go to the images on Instagram. Also with Jetpack active I must deactivate Tag Cloud Lib otherwise I am locked out of my site – afrikara.co.za – I use the Nature Love theme
Hi,
Maybe it would be possible with some CSS, it will depend on the block used however. Here I used block 11 which looks like this – https://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/block-11/
If there is no featured image set and the thumbnail placeholder is disabled, it will look like this – http://prntscr.com/mf4bzh
With some CSS it could be made to look like this – http://prntscr.com/mf4ce3
This could be possible for other specific block as well, but not for all at once. So it isn’t a definite solution, it may work only for some blocks. If these posts without featured images and placeholders disabled would appear in grids or various modules there may be problems. Sorry for the inconvenience.
Thanks
Greetings,
I really like the way your dark theme demo is structured and I tried to mimic some of its structures but to no avail.
Note: I tried importing the demo itself but since my page is not brand new and has contents, it didn’t work out.
What I am aiming for is ideally illustrated on the images below:
How do I bring out all sub-categories for a page like this example?
My next goal is to customize the navigation, so that it displays thumbnails and sub-categories from the dropdown menus like this:
Speaking of Ads, I tried to add one in the header, pasted the adsense code in the theme panel, however it only showed the placeholder and not the actual ad. I also tried to put one in a side bar but nothing really showed up, either.
I’ve specified a side column but I’m not sure if there is more prep work to do in order to make it work. What’s your suggestion?
I appreciate your time and work on this splendid theme!
Hi,
1. here you can see look the post that do not have a feature image set and the place holder for it is disable -> https://www.screencast.com/t/nuT5YWcNX and it’s look like this when that option is enable -> https://www.screencast.com/t/KrygGGla
Unfortunately the theme do not have any option in order to change the feature image of placeholder, so if you want to do that you need to do it manually, you need to go in wp-content/themes/Newspaper/images/no-thumb and replace the images but do not forget to set the same name and size
https://www.screencast.com/t/Rv4uQZiHW9
Also maybe you can find some plugins that can do this for you.
2. When the the feature image is set on lightbox -> https://www.screencast.com/t/rN8JzzHz4O you can click on it on post and will appear like this -> https://www.screencast.com/t/7m5TrpcLG6j
Thank you.
Thank you guys, it worked out… But I have two more questions:
1) Where can I setup a picture for a FEATURED IMAGE PLACEHOLDER?
2) What is FEATURED IMAGE LIGHTBOX? I don’t understand. Can you show a picture of it?
Hi,
If you want to change the default placeholder image, you need to change the following images from here -> https://www.screencast.com/t/cfgDUtJI Very important is to overwrite all of these images if you want to change them, leaving the same title of them.
Thanks for the message!
I would like to change the featured image that appears on posts that do not have an image.
How can I do this?
Hi,
That thumbnail is used for these elements – https://www.screencast.com/t/9VXxEutth
I made a test with big grid full 3 which uses this module
Default – http://prntscr.com/lw11v3
With no featured image – http://prntscr.com/lw127e
Replacing the default placeholder – https://www.screencast.com/t/XBvsFjRO5 (image must have same name and format – png)
Result – http://prntscr.com/lw13nt
It seems to work in my case.
Thanks
Hi,
Indeed, if there is no featured image set the them will display a placeholder image (no thumb)
But this will not take categories into account, maybe if you create conditions and also additional images
– https://www.screencast.com/t/S7yh3Q2gvuaa
I believe this may not be easy.
By default it would be simple, if the post has no thumb, module loads a no thumb placeholder of the appropriate size.
Some users that installed the theme and had multiple old posts with no featured image, reported that they used a plugin (auto post thumbnail I think) to automatically use the first image found in the post content as featured.
However I don’t know if that plugin works or not with the theme properly, just thought of mentioning it.
Thanks
Hello there
I would like to have an example with content in the placeholder. I cannot reproduce myself. Something to paste into a post so for my post all is into place and I just need to change the text and images.
Sorry
Wim
Hi,
Posts that don’t have a featured image will automatically display a no-thumb image as mentioned above.
If you want to display a different image than those default placeholders, you would have to replace all those images with different images (same name and format – png). That would work.
Or you could try some plugins as suggested in this topic
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/how-to-use-first-post-image-or-any-other-in-post-as-thumbnail/
We haven’t made tests with the plugins mentioned there, you could give them a try (try the free versions if possible).
Thanks
Hi,
So you want to change the placeholders with an image of your own? The default placeholders can be found here
– https://www.screencast.com/t/JCgo1OPd
You would have to replace them there, use the same name and format for the images or it may not work.
From what I know there is a suggestion on our list for an option in the theme to be able to set custom placeholder images, it will be considered for a future update.
Thanks
Hi, I use the Newspaper theme and I would like to know how to insert the same featured image placeholder for all posts that do not have a personalized image.
Thank you
Christian
Hi,
I see it like this on desktop and mobile – https://www.screencast.com/t/80PcTrRe
That is the placeholder thumbnail that is loaded when there is no featured image or video set for posts
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/featured-image-or-video/
In this case please check if the posts actually have featured videos set.
Thanks
Hi Simion,
Ok… thanks for the timely response!
Is there any chance that theme developers could add an option to upload a Featured Image Placeholder in the theme panel? This would be a big help– as the option that you suggested is not really good practice.
Thanks.
-Trip
Hi,
The path to the placeholder images is set in the general module file
– https://www.screencast.com/t/QiIpcwMSCJwn
That file is not supported to be modified in a child theme, if it would be a modification to the path would work. For example
– https://www.screencast.com/t/On9DXdtNNbh
But as it is you would have to modify the path in the module file after each update, in the main theme.
Thanks
Hello,
We’d like to customize the default Featured Image Placeholder — but noticed that the default thumbnails are in the Newspaper theme folder (wp-content/themes/Newspaper/images/no-thumb).
Is there a place that we can store default thumbnail images so that they will not be overwritten when we update Newspaper theme?
Thanks.

What do you mean feature image? If you were talking about an image in the articles displaying placeholders, there are images in each of them. Open the articles and you’ll see that there are images. Thanks.
