Wow, I couldn’t look at the old posts because of my lack of internet at home. Thanks for informing me about this. So there is no problem at my side. I tried everything after the update. I tried to look console messages, tried to disable AdSense, tried to regenerate images, tried to purge cache in Cloudflare, looked for the changed files from 4.5 to 4.6. Anyway, we have to wait for some time I guess. Thanks 🙂

Hi,

In order to do that you need to use a plugin like Force Regenerate Thumbnails
Force Regenerate Thumbnails allows you to delete all old images size and REALLY regenerate the thumbnails for your image attachments.
Hope this will help you.

Thank you.

Hello dvolatility,

I have inspected your website and I saw that you have the wrong size for your images in the blocks (featured images) -> width=”1″; height=”1″ as you can see here -> https://www.screencast.com/t/ER9RgivuE This such a problem might be caused by your untested plugins, like JetPack (Photon extension). We recommend to disable all of these untested plugins, make a full backup to your database, regenerate your images using the Force Regenerate of Thumbnails Regenerate (for the moment, you can regenerate one thumb to see if the image will appear) clear all the caches and check the results. If the problem is still there, please send us an email at contact@tagdiv.com with your log-in information (wp-admin) so we can further investigate it closer your setup page. Provide there the link to this topic so we can quickly identify you.

Thanks for your understanding!

Hello akisloukas,

Using a regenerate thumbnails plugin is needed in these cases
https://forum.tagdiv.com/thumbnails-fix-strange-looking-images-on-blocks/
In this case, regenerating will not do anything, the same thumbnails will be created.

Thanks for your understanding!

Hello stephenduggan,

Ensure that all of the used thumbs are enabled from Theme panel -> Theme thumbs from here -> https://www.screencast.com/t/s8tTyOXK1P7

You could regenerate the thumbnails for the images used only
https://forum.tagdiv.com/thumbnails-fix-strange-looking-images-on-blocks/
https://www.screencast.com/t/BLmW7nID0eF
Check if the thumbnail size is enabled in the theme panel before regenerating

Thanks.

Hi,

From what I can see none of the smaller thumbnails are found on the server
https://www.screencast.com/t/okw8yF9a
Maybe something happened with the medial library or uploads folder where the images are kept.

Hello again, I’m doing it with the regenerate thumbails, with this it should be fixed?

If it is not, the size of all the images I’m putting them to 696xel size that of.

If you notice the other blocks come out perfectly, it only happens in this one.

Hello perfectbodymate,

Try to regenerate your thumbnails using the Force Regenerate or Force Regenerate thumbnails, switch the child theme to the main theme if you are using something like this, remove all of the untested plugins, update the theme, clear all the caches and check the results. If the problem is still there, please send us an email at contact@tagdiv.com with your log-in information (wp-admin) so we can further investigate it closer your setup page. It is applied to all the thumbnails the theme creates, including the gallery
https://forum.tagdiv.com/featured-image/
https://forum.tagdiv.com/thumbnails-vs-featured-image-size/
It is not really an issue, that is how the theme is supposed to work. The focus will be on the center top of the images used.

Let’s take this image you use in the gallery for example, it has top and bottom empty space
https://collabhype.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/black_panther_3.png
When the theme crops it and focuses on the center top, the result will be like this
https://www.screencast.com/t/oKFrFAX7UCJ
Having better results also depends on the images you use in the first place.

Using a regenerate thumbnails plugin is needed in these cases
https://forum.tagdiv.com/thumbnails-fix-strange-looking-images-on-blocks/
In this case regenerating will not do anything, the same thumbnails will be created.

I suggested you try a gallery plugin which may display images differently. Maybe try installing a few and make tests in a test post, with the same images from your media library.

Is this cropping behavior applied to all images displayed on this theme, or just the slider gallery? If so, how can this image sizing issue be resolved across the theme?

If a new gallery plugin is required, what is the benefit of using the force regenerate thumbnails plugin? What problem does it solve?

Thanks

Hi,

Did you have to regenerate the thumbnails as I said you above? Have you tried this?

Thanks.

Hello,

I have used the “force regenerate thumbnails” plugin as you have suggested multiple times, but my images on my image galleries are still overly enlarged and offset. See the gallery here as an example. https://collabhype.com/vans-x-marvel-black-panther-sk8-hi-roars-with-style/

How can I fix this? Can the images I upload be autoresized? Should I use a different gallery plugin?

thanks

Hi,

We started using Newspaper theme recently. It is understood that for the thumbnails to show properly they need to be regenerated.

However, they should be proper for the images that are uploaded after activating Newspaper theme.

Please check the homepage and the image of the first article in the Featured section has a gray area.
Site: https://www.techuntold.com/

Let us know how to fix it.

p.s.
Visual Composer is not installed.
The list of plugins that are currently active are: Regenerate Thumbnails, WP Super Cache, Yoast SEO, tagDiv Cloud Library, tagDiv Composer, tagDiv Social Counter.

thank you for the reply.

The theme is that the width of the image to be regenerated is 324×160 and 324×235.

So I changed the 324×235 regeneration to 325×235 using the plugin called “Simple Images Sizes” and started to recognize it properly.
Simple images Size : (https://wordpress.org/plugins/simple-image-sizes/)

I think this is probably because it’s not compatible with the WP-Stateless plugin, which uploads images to the automatically Google Cloud.
WP-Steateless : (https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-stateless/)

I’ll use it this way, and if I have a big problem, I’ll have to remove the plugin.

Even if there is an option to limit the image regeneration of this theme, it is not a level that can be ignored in regenerating capacity.

If i upload an image, i need 2.5x(Storage space) additional image.

Anyway thanks for checking my site and replies!

Hello! We’re really liking Newspaper as a theme, but I’m having a problem with the way the grid thumbnails are responding to being made “phone narrow” as seen here:

https://massivelyop.com

The gray bars appear on any resolution narrower than 480 px or so, at least on my 1920×1080 monitor’s mobile simulation.

I know I’ve seen this problem described on this forum many times, and the answer is usually to regenerate one’s thumbnails, which I have done (with careful attention to the grids and modules that we are using). In this case, the problem shows up when the page is viewed on a narrow mobile device (or in Chrome or Firefox mobile preview with the simulated device made very narrow). The images shrink properly until the aspect ratio matches the ratio present in the thumbnail, and from then on as the page gets narrower, they shrink to match the x-direction, leaving them too short to fill the box in the y-direction. I wouldn’t complain, but this isn’t some extreme, unrealistic aspect ratio, it’s what’s actually present on my Pixel 2 or my wife’s Pixel 2 XL.

(In a related behavior, if you use Chrome or FF to simulate mobile and then drag the device to be more than about 750px wide, the thumbnails snap back to the wrong aspect ratio once they stop filling to 100%, not to the correct aspect ratio thumbnails that get served to the real desktop site. That means that even if a mobile user clicks “request desktop site” the thumbnails will still come with gray bars! I’ve seen this behavior in Safari on iPad. It’s probably not a coincidence that this is the pixel width at which the “large tablet” CSS is supposed to come into effect.)

Is there some way to get the images to stop shrinking to match x and start cropping the y-axis once they get too narrow to resize correctly? And why are the thumbnails for the “large mobile” the wrong aspect ratio?

Thanks for your help! The theme is working great otherwise!

I am also facing this problem. I hope that only featured images are regenerated. Regeneration of the image on the post is not necessary. This is because it is visible only in posts.
