I deactivated LazyLoad from Jetpack and re-activated the theme’s one; there was no problem and everything worked fine with that.

I find out that Jetpack also has the option to “optimize images” that is use their CDN to resize the images and serve them compressed.

My homepage without jetpack CDN loads in about 3-4 seconds and weights more than 10 Mb. It use only Cloudflare. With Jatpack CDN on it takes the same amount of time but weight only 2,5 mb.

It was maybe jatpack the problem serving the cripted images? I have now deactivated it because in other forum is suggested to use Cloudflare instead.

My question is: is it possible to optimize imgs without using photoshop and jatpack CDN? It seems that smush and the theme itself, despite the thumbnails auto-generating system, cannot do the job. Even the “regenerate thumbnails” plugin fails at that: the page weights 10 mb even after cleared the cache.

Thansk for the support.

Hi,

yesterday I bought this new fantastic theme (Newspaper 9) and I’m still configuring it right now.
One problem I have is the one written in the title: when I visit my site (www.ranierisdesk.com) images will not load correctly. Sometimes the thumbnails are missing but not the ones in the slider, sometime the opposite.

In the old theme I used Smush. I disable it and unistalled. Cleared the cache from cloudflare (I don’t use anyalse plugin to generate the cache) and I installed and used the plugin “Regenerate Thumbnails”. Nothing changed.

Maybe is some plugin I have installed that is uncompatible?

Here are the installed and activeted plugins:
– Amazon Associates Link Builder
– Calculated Fields Form
– Classic Editor
– Contact Form 7
– Contact Form 7 MailChimp Extension
– Cookie Notice
– CP Blocks
– Download Monitor
– Email Before Download
– GTranslate
– Jetpack by WordPress.com
– MailChimp per WordPress
– Open external links in a new window
– Regenerate Thumbnails
– Remove Category URL
– Revolution Slider
– tagDiv Composer
– tagDiv Social Counter
– UpdraftPlus – Backup/Restore
– WP Cerber Security, Antispam & Malware Scan
– Yoast SEO

Thanks for the support.

Our site is about interior design and decor DIY (https://wordofdecor.com) and it means that one post can include up to 100 images. So, if all Newspaper thumbnails are switched on I have up to 1900 inodes for one article.

I carefully investigated TagDiv forum about this problem:
https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/how-to-prevent-auto-regenerate-image-size-from-theme-not-media-setting/
https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/thumbnails-regenrated/
https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/disable-cropped-thumbnails-images/

But all your recommendations are like “just switch off unused thumbnails” or “clean up your Cpannel”.

Ok, I’ve looked up all blocks that I use and found out that only 7 thumbnails could be excluded. So, we stay with 1200 inodes for one article. Currently I’m able to create 100-250 articles and my hosting inodes limit will be totally out – http://take.ms/Xv7fq
Concerning advice about Cpannel: do you imagine how much time will it take me to delete not used thumbnails from 100 photos? It’s not funny, really – http://take.ms/d0LhBM

Do you plan to do something with this problem?
For example, to create block thumbnails only for featured photo. It’s obvious. What is the barrier to implement such improvement?

Many thanks in advance for your reply.

The featured image of the post doesn’t show up. I have regenerated all thumbnails. I have disabled all plugins including going one by one and still nothing. Any help would be greatly appreciated! See attachments below.

All right, I’m going to install this plugin. But I already made several articles and I have regenerated the thumbnails several times and that did not solve. Any article that you write and appear on that grid location has this problem. I will install the plugin now and give you feedback

Hi,

That would be block 25, it should look like this
https://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/block-25/
First I thought the image you used as featured was small, but for me the same image allow the creation of the proper thumbnail
http://prntscr.com/kq2nvw

Try to install the force regenerate plugin and regenerate that thumbnail
https://www.screencast.com/t/kmK1RlIC35D
Then check if the issue is solved, maybe clear the cache after regenerating.

After you check the blocks and disable the thumbnails like Simion says, install “force regenerate thumbnails” plugin and check for the option to regenerate thumbnails under Tools in wp-admin. This will delete the unused thumbnails. Also, check this guide https://www.pickaweb.co.uk/kb/how-to-decrease-inode-usage-in-cpanel-server/.

I am still having problem with the Shop Page, since once I set my own shop page, it gets overridden with the default one.

I did all the steps that you suggested:
1 – create a shop page using the woocommerce shortcodes, I did it with and without the tagDiv composer
2 – leave it alone (no more editing!) and then select it in the “Woocommcerce -> Settings” menu “Products” tab.

Regenerated permalinks, deleted pages, deleted the trash, detactivated plugins, created a new very simple page, but whatever I tried once I set it as “Shop Page” it gets overridden.

Hi there,

A recent problem has started occuring on my website http://www.fishingindustrynewssa.com and I’m not sure what has caused it or how to fix it.
Most of the image thumbnails on my site are not displaying on the the homepage or in the sidebar and recommended content sections, etc. The large header images for individual articles seem to be displaying fine, although I haven’t checked all of them. Strangely, I only started noticing this problem a few weeks ago as before then it was displaying the thumbnails just fine.

I have tried installing and running the “Regenerate Thumnails” extension but this hasn’t helped.

Any assistance will be greatly appreciated!

Hi,

Please try and not reply in your own topic multiple times. This will only delay the answer on our part. It will refresh the topic date and move it to the back of the line. We answer all topics from oldest to newest, which is fair.

We only made tests with the super cache plugin that is why we recommend it. That doesn’t mean other caching plugins definitely will not work. You can make tests with others. The guide is older indeed, it needs an update (there are plans to do so). Some settings in the plugin were moved or renamed, but basically still the same.

The live search module uses this thumbnails size
https://www.screencast.com/t/7dGAgFzGO0w3
The thumbnail that is uses cannot be changed. In your case it seems the images are bigger, please regenerate the thumbnails to create the required size
https://forum.tagdiv.com/thumbnails-fix-strange-looking-images-on-blocks/

The theme analytics capabilities are simple, there is only a section in the theme panel where analytics code can be entered. The code will be loaded in the header. There are no settings to manage tracking.
If you require such settings you could consider using a more advanced plugin for example, to allow you to do what is needed.

Thanks

Hi,

1. No, the regeneration is used for older content. Images you upload since the theme has been activated will automatically be used for thumbnails.

I believe the force regenerate plugin will remove older thumbs which are not needed anymore, keep only what is required. All the images are kept in the wordpress media library by default.

2. That would be the lazy loading, images not in view will not be loaded. Once you scroll to them they will be visible
https://forum.tagdiv.com/newsmag-loading-image-effects/
This setting can be disabled if needed, in the theme panel.

3. Such CSS codes can be entered in the theme panel, custom code section
https://www.screencast.com/t/STw0yKeHhjkZ
Seems I forgot to mention it above, sorry.

Thanks

Hi Bogdon,

1) Do I need to run this plug every time I create a post and upload/new images? When am I supposed to use this? Is there any risk that I will lose all my images? When you say it deletes old images and regenerates, does that mean the newly regenerated images are saved in the Media Library?

2) If you visit my website or see the screenshot (http://www.screencast.com/t/2bdHvdRJ), as I’m scrolling down the homepage, it’s only the images that are delayed in displaying, except the first article. The article posts and text look to be loaded immediately. Is this behavior or infinite scrolling or lazy loading? Or is this a performance issue?

3) Simion mentioned above that embed would look best if it was forced to display as auto size and maybe centered
https://www.screencast.com/t/vPobOmY3L

.td-post-content iframe.instagram-media {
width:auto!important;
margin: auto!important;
}

Where do I update this code?

Thanks

hello,
1) The force regenerate plugin deletes old thumbnails and creates the new thubs required by the theme. if your image is big enough to fit the thumbnail contianer, the proper thumbnail will be created. But as Simion mentioned, you need to have images at least the size of the thumbnail you want them to show up in.

2) Are you maybe referring to the infinite load you have set as pagination? The block pagination causes the load of the next few posts to be a bit delayed. Please check the block pagination if you do not want it paginated and want all the articles loaded on the first page load.

3) unfortunately the theme cannot handle iframe controls. Iframes are handled by the embed code from the iframe source.

Thank you!

hello,

It seems your thumbnails have not be regenerated properly. Please use this plugin to regenerate all your thumbs: https://wordpress.org/plugins/force-regenerate-thumbnails/

Thank you!

1) What does the “force regenerate thumbnails” plugin do to resolve my problem? When I upload images, I am taking various images from the web and reusing them. As a result, they are unlikely to be an exact match of the recommended block/grid element resolutions. Will the plugin resolve this? Is there an easier way to make sure the images auto-resize appropriately? Or do I have to edit (ex. crop, resize, etc.) each image one at a time before uploading? Or is it recommended to always upload a larger resolution to allow the auto-resize to downsize appropriately?

2) As for the lazyloading. I have disabled this but I get the same result. When I load the homepage for the first time, all the images up to the first article under “The Latest” load. Then as I scroll down there’s a delay before all the other images load.

3) Where do you make changes to edit the iframe controls to resize? Can this be done within the theme or just for a specific post?

Thanks

1. Indeed, there are still some thumbnails that are not created, this is highly unusual. Like this one
https://www.screencast.com/t/a3narJCTM
The original image seems to be large enough to allow the required thumbnails size to be created.
Note that you can also regenerate the thumbnails per image
https://www.screencast.com/t/qXZv32Ol73Z

The theme should create the thumbnails automatically. Do you maybe use some image optimization plugins or code? What happens if you regenerate the image mentioned above, does it create a proper thumbnail?

1: As issues are persisting when I regenerated thumbnails and since those posts that have thumbnail issues are new (site is updated with 50+ posts per day) I think it could be issue with Settings > Media > Thumbnail size as its kept on default 200×200. What thumbnail size should be set for Newspaper theme?

2: Hmmm issue is resolved by using Custom_AD_1 insted of Sidebar even they have same code

Hi,

1. Some thumbnails are still not created, for example this one
https://www.screencast.com/t/XQsP3XHE
This is a proper thumbnail – https://www.screencast.com/t/pPrN9pDz2d
So if you regenerated the thumbnails and there is still a problem, maybe the required PHP GD library module is missing. Check in the theme system status
https://www.screencast.com/t/98bgTKdtHsRq

2. I also tried to hide a column with WPBakery (tagDiv composer inactive)
https://www.screencast.com/t/w0zdMr3QY
The column is hidden, there will be a hidden class set on it by WPBakery
https://www.screencast.com/t/H8few257i

Inspecting your page there are a few columns hidden under the big grid
https://www.screencast.com/t/rURAqOuCF
These would be the columns, one contains an ad box and one is empty
https://www.screencast.com/t/ZhKCe1JWLV
These are hidden on desktop so that would be what you wanted. Maybe I am misunderstanding something, please correct me if I do.

Thanks

So that is detected in pages where the thumbnail of the featured image should appear?

It is true that the post is linked to the thumbnail that represents it in blocks. In blocks only thumbnails are displayed
https://www.screencast.com/t/nf3gwk9DwNId
That is not the full image resized, it is an actual thumbnail of the image created by the theme automatically. Inspect an image in a block on your website, they should be thumbnails.
If they are not, then please regenerate the thumbnails
https://forum.tagdiv.com/thumbnails-fix-strange-looking-images-on-blocks/
The full image will not be displayed in block modules.

Hi, Today all of the featured images on my posts are not showing up on my front page, or in the ‘related articles’ or footer sections of my posts. In the posts, if I use the pagination, the images will load but not on initial page load or with any sections that do not have pagination. I have regenerated my thumbnails, and check the thumbs setting in the theme panel, but I am still not seeing the images populating.

You can also disable the thumbnail sizes you do not use from here https://www.screencast.com/t/Ihia4bRV. Then install the force regenerate thumbnail plugin to regenerate the theme’s thumbnails. Also, remember to reduce your image size with a plugin like wp smush.

I have followed the guide and used the regenerate thumbnail plugin and the result is still the same.

Hi,

That is unusual, the theme will create thumbnails from the featured images, not load and serve scaled original images.

From what I can see the thumbnails are not created properly in your website. When using the theme with existent content it is recommended to regenerate the thumbnails
https://forum.tagdiv.com/thumbnails-fix-strange-looking-images-on-blocks/
GD library has to be available, check that before regenerating in the theme system status.

The regeneration process will create all the necessary thumbnails that appear in blocks/modules.
