Yes, well if you LOOK at the report
a) you need to optimize some of your images
b) you need to set expiration headers for some of the file types
c) you need to make sure gzip/deflate working for some file types
Did you clear cache from old site before switching to new theme?
Did you regenerate thumbs for new theme?
Did you reset anything loading from CDN?
Best to test with post page vs home page for speed testing.
You need to actually *do* all the fixes outlined on both GTMetrix and Google PageSpeed insights for the problems, like compression, expiration headers, etc.
Hi
I’ve checked your site and noticed that the theme don’t use a 741X486 px thumb for big grid 5, it uses the entire image, and because of revise process this image it’s not displayed fine: http://screencast.com/t/YdnQji819
Please make sure that you regenerate all your thumbnails using Thumbnail Regenerate plugin, deactivate all others plugins except Visual Composer, empty all caches including browser cache and test again.
Let us know how it goes and if the problem persist please send us an email at contact@tagdiv.com with your login credentials and we will inspect this issue as soon as possible, also include a link to this topic.
Thanks!
I’m trying to figure out what is going on with my site. All of the images are large enough to fit the spaces they are supposed to fill, but they are leaving white space either on the side or bottom. I already did the force regenerate thumbnails, I tried to add the code you suggested to other people and I don’t know what else to try.
My site is https://ridiculouslifestyle.com
You would have to delete manually, or download to PC and use some software or scriptlet to search/destroy. Or, remove all except logos, then regenerate all images on server once you reset your optimized thumbnail settings in the theme panel and WP media setting.
Hi! I disabled thumbnails in theme panel for some sizes and regenerated it with plugin but for some images there are about 40 thumbnails (average 20)! (you can see it here http://postimg.org/image/orytlindh/ )
How to reduce unused images?
Thank you
Also, various plugins like “thumbnail upscale” can help when you regenerate your thumbs to “enlarge, crop, fit” … which might help.
Hello,
Please make sure you have the thumbnails activated here: http://screencast.com/t/DwbyffFu otherwise the theme will use the full image instead of a thumbnail and problems such as yours can appear. (you will have to regenerate thumbs again if options are changed in the menu exemplified)
Thank you!
Hi,
Do you have this issue only with video images? Please also provide a link so we can inspect this. Also please make sure you have enabled thumbs on block/modules – http://screencast.com/t/dlz8aUNioIr and try to regenerate thumbnails – https://forum.tagdiv.com/using-the-theme-with-existing-content/
Let us know!
Thanks!
Hi,

Thanks!
Hi @barryc123
You can set the featured image from post editor: http://screencast.com/t/fzThUQ0Nq1u Also try to regenerate your thumbnails https://forum.tagdiv.com/thumbnails-fix-strange-looking-images-on-blocks/ deactivate all plugins except Visual Composer, clear all caches and test again.
If the problem persist please provide your site url so I can inspect it closer.
Thanks!
Hi,
Do you want to change the thubmnails sizes or add a new thumb? You can find all the thumbnails in td_config file – http://screencast.com/t/tSvr872X they are used on modules for example – http://screencast.com/t/jgy9In96a7Q If you make any changes you will have to regenerate thumbnails – https://forum.tagdiv.com/existing-content/
Thanks!
Hi,
I’m having this awful issue where the modules on the home page are not being shown how they’re suppossed to show, at first I thought it was a thumbs issue, I regenerate all the thumbs as you instruct on your how to pages, but didn’t fix anything, I deleted the thumbs and regenerate again but all the thumbs dissapear so the issue went from bad to worst, so I regenerate all the thumbs with Auto Post Thumbnail PRO Plugin from envato and it did create the thumbs but I’m still having the same issue, I have created several pages with different layouts even using your default templates which have changed nothing, so I’m really lost where to look at, I can’t find a way to reset the settings on the theme which is kinda annoying since in this case it might help to debug something maybe?
Anyway, these other issues brought to my attention when I launched the web console in Google Chrome, I really don’t know if they are related to the issues I’m having:
layout_engine.js:111 The deviceorientation event is deprecated on insecure origins, and support will be removed in the future. You should consider switching your application to a secure origin, such as HTTPS. See https://goo.gl/rStTGz for more details.
base.js:3467 SVG's SMIL animations (<animate>, <set>, etc.) are deprecated and will be removed. Please use CSS animations or Web animations instead.

Could you please point me out to the right direction since I was going to lauch the new skin on January 1st and I made all the testing I needed on a DEV site which everything is working as expected.
Dev Site
Thank you for your time.
Many thanks, Chris. It did not occur to me to regenerate the thumbnails after upgrading to a newer version of newsmag. Thank you for your helpful reply. I will regenerate the thumbnails in case that resolves the aforementioned issues.
Did you regenerate all your thumbs for this theme when you switched to it, per theme docs?
Note WordPress cannot “enlarge” images to crop/fit, only reduce.
You therefore need soomething like the free “thumbnail upscale” plugin.
See the theme docs for help on “why my images don’t fit ..” and migrating from another theme. 🙂
I apologize if this is a very basic question but I’ve been driving myself crazy trying to figure it out for the past two days. I figured I would just stop and ask at this point in the hopes that somebody can help me. With any luck, the solution is something simple that I have book overlooking.
I’m setting up a new blog and it is my first time using Newspaper. When setting the featured image for posts, I am using as big as images as I can think to use so that they won’t need to scale up to cover any of the possible thumbnail sizes.
Yet as you can see here – http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f54/Sims4Sarah/bloghelp1_zpsei3uuxin.jpg – I am still ending up with random grey space. Often, it is in the big grid headers but not always. It can be in the thumbs of the lower units too.
I don’t know what I am doing wrong. I’m putting it in the featured space on each post – http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f54/Sims4Sarah/bloghelp2_zpsss8nmwzr.jpg and I have been experimenting with larger and larger dimensions in hopes that I’ll hit on a magic size that means I don’t have the problem any more (I installed Force Regenerate Thumbnails and ran it each time I replaced with a new size) but nothing is working.
Here is an example of a featured image size on a recent post entry – http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f54/Sims4Sarah/bloghelp3_zpsfviucxpy.jpg
What am I doing wrong? I have all of the thumb sizes still switched to ‘blue’ in the theme panel block settings, if that matters.
Hi,
The original image may be smaller that the thumb size used on this location of the Big Grid.
Check it’s size, the size of the Big Grid thumb is 537x360px. If the image is larger try to regenerate the thumb using the Force Regenerate Thumbnails plugin – https://wordpress.org/plugins/force-regenerate-thumbnails/
If the image is smaller you have to use a plugin which comes with an upscale function, wordpress doesn’t have such an option by default, try this one – https://wordpress.org/plugins/thumbnail-upscale/ – after it’s active regenerate the thumb using the Force Regenerate Thumbnails plugin.
Thank you!
Hello,
Normally it should work for jpg’s as well. Please use another regenerate plugin like force regenerate and disable all other plugins to make sure no plugin conflict interferes with your thumbnails.
Let us know how it goes.
Thank you!
My theme crops featured images vertically wrong for thumbs. It does not crop the middle part of the image. It takes the top part.
I regenerated the thumbnails, but it didnt fixed. I checked your demo, there is no problem. What cause this? This problem also exists in subdomains.
When i regenerate it builds thumbnail sizes only for logos. Other images dont receive sized thumbnails
Hello,
Please try to disable all your plugins except visual composer, clear cache and regenerate your thumbnails using the force regenerate plugin. Normally this error appears when images are smaller than the container in the big grid but I see large images still being ‘cut’ so it could be a plugin conflict.
Let us know how it goes.
Thank you!
Hi
Theme’s thumbs have fixed sizes. In order to change the size you need to register a new thumb in td_config.php file using theme’s api: https://forum.tagdiv.com/td_api_blockadd/ – http://screencast.com/t/CzrLP9jqhWS After you register the new thumb it’s necessary to regenerate your thumbnails, more details about this step can be found here: https://forum.tagdiv.com/thumbnails-fix-strange-looking-images-on-blocks/
Hope this help.
Thanks!

a) make sure new server has proper graphic tools installed like your old system; such as imagemagick and GD libs
b) regenerate thumbnails if needed
c) if images need to be larger than your original images, add the “thumbnail upscale” plugin (free).
Obviously if the new hosting system is missing the same files as old one, then it won’t work the same.
Hope that helps.
a) regenerate thumbnails per theme docs / https://forum.tagdiv.com/existing-content/
b) if thumbs are larger than original post image; add ‘thumbnail upscale’ plugin (free)
Works for me 🙂
Not sure it’s your issue, but most common one.
I will suggest you go back and remove that code in your functions.php file
Uninstall WP Smush.it then install EWWW
Clear your Caches,
Deactivate all plugins except Visual Composer and Regenerate Thumbnails
Regenerate again, then go back to EWWW and Bulk Optimize
Your site should show super quality HD photos and they will be optimized for speed.
Contrary to Bogdan’s opinion, you should try Photon. I use it and my site is incredibly fast.
Awesome site you’ve got there by the way 🙂

Get the Regenerate Thumbnail plugin
When you click regenerate on the plugin settings page, it will get the job done for you, and the thumbnails will fit.
This is the plugin you need https://wordpress.org/plugins/regenerate-thumbnails/
