Hi,
I’ve created a child theme since I wanted to tweak just a couple of elements.
However, I am scratching my head because I can not understand how to remove the link created in the H1 Title of the “Homepage Post” element used on a PAGE
This element is very similar to the Style 8 Template used on POSTS where the H1 title is not a link.
Thanks!
Have a nice day!
I saw the detail log:
Catchable fatal error: Object of class stdClass could not be converted to string
array(23) { [“custom_title”]=> string(11) “Block title” [“custom_url”]=> string(0) “” [“header_text_color”]=> string(1) “#” [“header_color”]=> string(1) “#” [“border_top”]=> string(0) “” [“color_preset”]=> string(0) “” [“post_ids”]=> string(0) “” [“category_id”]=> string(0) “” [“category_ids”]=> string(0) “” [“tag_slug”]=> string(0) “” [“autors_id”]=> string(0) “” [“installed_post_types”]=> string(0) “” [“sort”]=> string(0) “” [“limit”]=> string(1) “5” [“offset”]=> string(0) “” [“td_ajax_filter_type”]=> string(0) “” [“td_ajax_filter_ids”]=> string(0) “” [“td_filter_default_txt”]=> string(3) “All” [“td_ajax_preloading”]=> string(0) “” [“ajax_pagination”]=> string(0) “” [“ajax_pagination_infinite_stop”]=> string(0) “” [“wpfront-user-role-editor-widget-permissions-data”]=> object(stdClass)#547 (1) { [“type”]=> int(1) } [“class”]=> string(15) “td_block_widget” }
WPFront User Role Editor plugin added key wpfront-user-role-editor-widget-permissions-data to block. I don’t know why and I removed that plugin.
Now it works perfectly.
Thank you!
Hello rea-secret,
Please try to set your smart lists according to our documentation here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/smart-lists/ (for smart lists we recommend to use single template style 5 for posts for avoiding the duplicate images).
Another possibility, in this case, would be ->
Duplicate images on smart lists usually are the result of using the Photon feature of the Jetpack. If you use this feature please disable it as it is known to cause issues with our theme.
If the problem is still there, please try to disable all plugins except visual composer and clear your cache as other plugins could also conflict with the smart lists. Also, if you are using “strange” characters (!@#$%^&*/”- etc) in ALT tag, the image will be twice. I have added this issue to our list of fixes and in next major updates will solve this problem. Until we will fix this issue, please try to remove these kinds of symbols in ATL tag for better results.
Also, and last but not least, please use post template 5 when you are using the smart list for better results. For more information about smart list, please consult our documentation here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/smart-lists/
Hope this helps and let us know how it goes!
Thank you for the message!
Thank you, Bogdan!
I have a few more questions:
- Is it possible to fix this: http://www.screencast.com/t/yHCBHvf4t , in the footer of the theme? I would like to have the two badges shown side by side
- Is there any way to remove that blank line between the News Ticker and Breadcrumb: http://www.screencast.com/t/vLXNGnlpORO ? It appears every time I add the News Ticker in cPanel…
- Is there any way to add an ad between articles that are shown in Tag and Category pages?
- I cannot use the Post Style 1 because it shows both the Article Top ad and the Post Style 1 ad. Also, is it possible to show the featured image on the left, inline with text, and the ad on the top in Style 1?
Thank you!
Hi
Try this css in theme panel > custom code > custom css to remove the category tags from big grid: http://screencast.com/t/Ho8FUsz4sjx
.td-big-grid-post .td-post-category{
display: none;
}
To remove the category tag from slider from slider just deactivate it from theme panel > block settings > category tags on modules/blocks: http://screencast.com/t/VcTBnCDshf4
Thanks!
Hi.
I see your featured images on internet explorer not displaying properly, but I also see an altered height of the post template. Please make a back-up of your customization, then remove it and also disable all plugins except visual composer, clear cache and reset cdn files. Revert the theme to it’s defaults then test again.
This is how that particular post template should display by default:
http://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/td-post-the-new-screen-savers-the-show-that-launched-video-into-the-stratosphere/
Let us know how it goes.
Thank you!
Hello,
In order to move the comments, you need to edit the post template files where the function you modified is being called.
You need to make this modification for every post style you use. Each post style has 2 files: http://screencast.com/t/7b2duo3dhe
You need to remove the comments code from the single.php files and move it over to the loop-single files right above the social sharing like so: http://screencast.com/t/kpum38ZLzgTd and paste it in the loop file inside php tags like so: http://screencast.com/t/BAF58Qsh
Thank you!
Just to share some experiences improving site speed for the many who post here to discuss…
What I’ve also done (My site is an independent ‘hyperlocal’ news site – slightly bigger than hyperlocal really) which I think is good practice given FB Instant Articles and AMP (Already on Apple News for almost a year now) is almost ‘forget the desktop’ exists.
Due to 75%+ mobile visitors it seems good practice (if a ‘live’ news site with say 100+ articles per week) to get the site as fast and safe as possible – this may help others
– I’ve removed all home page blocks except ‘ticker’ – a lightweight grid with no slider- and a sidebar
– Removed all plugins or deactivated ones no required all the time
– Implemented Chris S .htaccess and functions.php tips exactly as described – inc image resizing
– Paid Cloudflare with page rules to remove wp-admin etc- following TagDiv recommendation settings except RocketLoader ON – Mirage in ON
– Removed my subscriber pop-up and won’t use one – promote subscriptions via another route – FB ads – Twitter ads perhaps
– Removed SumoMe and anything that fetches CSS externally
– I do run UberMenu on main site and ShiftNav on mobile (for a better user experience) – But run NO mega menu or dropdowns
– Currently RocketLoader (Cloudflare) runs and doesn’t break anything
– Only added Google Analytics via YoastSEO not on Theme Panel box – it’s there and working
– ADDED a user text box to point people to how to navigate the site – believe it or not saying ‘Press load more or click coloured category labels or main menu’ actually gets visitors to do that!
Results –
Before – GTMetrix – PageSpeed B YSlow C Page size (Homepage) 3.2MB Requests – 187 – Load time – about 7-10 secs
Pingdom 5-7 seconds
After – Page Speed A (96%) YSlow B (82%) Page size (Homepage) 1.2MB Requests 96 – Load time – 2 secs
Pingdom 700ms-1.3 secs
The theme still looks great on desktop but it’s not worth getting caught up in the aesthetics if the visitors aren’t looking at the pretty views – it looks brilliant on mobile and that’s what matters.
Hi,
i tried to use the booster plugin to defer load my js and css files – dont work. Not one file are moving from his place. I defined a custom wp-content directory as always in the config.php and im using a child theme. i also changed the name of the theme. Everthing works fine – but the plugin dont work. I followed the instruction of the booster plugin manual – no conflict with other plugin – i used it alone….
Then i removed the plugin, because i found following piece of code on stackoverflow to defer load the js files. Works fine:
if ( ! function_exists( 'add_defer_to_js' ) && ! is_admin() ) {
function add_defer_to_js( $url ) {
if ( FALSE === strpos( $url, '.js' ) ) {
// not our file
return $url;
}
// Must be a ', not "!
return "$url' defer='defer";
}
add_filter( 'clean_url', 'add_defer_to_js', 11, 1 );
}
NOW MY PROBLEM and my Hope you can help me out. The only parts of my site, wich does not display correct anymore is the homepage full block AND the (same) Single Post Template (DEFAULT SITE POST TEMPLATE Style 8). This is the shortcode to reproduce it on the mainpage:
[td_block_homepage_full_1 category_id=”” category_ids=”2558″ post_ids=”” tag_slug=”” autors_id=”” installed_post_types=”” sort=””]
I compared the source of my site with the defer code and without – no changes.
QUESTION:
ANY IDEA HOW TO FIX THIS? Nny help would be appreciated
Thank you so much

As image shows you the highlighted(yellow color) author name appears to every post when i am trying to share it.Please can you help me to remove this author tag.Thank you.
Re-read the Google page
the canonical tag tells Google which version of the URL to any page on your site is the correct one
e.g.,
http://www.yoursite.ooo/name-of-post/
vs
http//yoursite.ooo/name-of-post/
are two different URLs
and if you move to https, that introduces yet another variation.
Using the canonical link on all your pages — as per the Google docs, and hundreds of online articles you can review to self-educate yourself, tells the world “which version” is the “primary actual defacto official one and only best link to use page” … this is how you remove any confusion for which is which, and also ensures no duplicate content issues. And if you move to https, changing the canonical helps instantly identify the new corrected URL to use for an existing page, regardless of 301 redirects.
Best of luck ! 🙂

Hello,
@mlgallant Well if the option does not stay selected, that is the reason you do not see featured images. Please try to clear your cache after you change the setting and make use you increase the system status parameters according to this guide: https://forum.tagdiv.com/system-status-parameters-guide/ If you still cannot get the option to stay selected, please send us an email at contact@tagdiv.com and provide wp-admin so we can inspect it. (also include a link to this topic so we can identify you)
@Olak,
Please re upload your images in the media library. edit a post and remove the featured image that does not show up and upload it again. Do the same for the logo and your ad in the header. http://screencast.com/t/WwLgJ0UB55j
Most of your posts do not have a featured image set so you can only see the placeholder image on your homepage.
Hope this helps.
Thank you!
Is there a way to remove or stop TAGS from appearing on the posts on the website?
Kind regards,
Hello smehr,
This kind of option is set it only from Theme panel->Categories section. Please check you category area for each category and if you do not want to have background image you have to remove it and then you will not have the background image for this category nor for the posts from this category > http://screencast.com/t/4wpzpIJwJutw
For more information about category, please consult our documentation here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-category-settings-work/
Hope this helps!

Hi
You can’t target a post with css depending by its categories tags, it can be done only by the post id like in this example:
.postid-129 .td-post-date{
display: none;
}
This code will hide the post date for the post with id 129 but is not the best way to achieve that because if you have many posts from which you want to hide the date there will be lot of code.
This can also be done using a php condition in file corresponding with post template used: http://screencast.com/t/pNPy4Yfnur
if (!in_category('category-slug')){
echo $td_mod_single->get_date(false);
}
Note that this code will remove the post date from post html source, not only hit it.
Hope this help.
Thanks!
Hi
Please check this link, I have posted a solution here: https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/can-i-remove-url-field-on-comment-form/
Thanks!
Hello,
The function I provided is to remove the code from the php files. If you simply want to hide it, then you can use the css. But this will only remove the ad from the tag page. It will not remove the ad from posts that have this tag set to them. That is done with php and the function I showed above.
Thank you!
Hello,
Unfortunately this update from such an old version will be like switching to a whole different theme. Lots of things have changed in the meantime.
1)
a. You can turn off the slider animation from the lazyload setting: http://screencast.com/t/1e7GmiXoK3r
b. You can use this custom css to remove it only from the big mkodule:
.td_module_mx9 .td-post-author-name{
display:none!important;
}
c. The images are to blame here, not the grid itself. You need to regenerate your thumbnails using the “force regenerate’ plugin
2) Unfortunately the gallery format was removed so if you have double images n your posts, you will either have to remove the doubles by hand or use post style 5 which does not display the featured image.
3) This is the position of the pagination in the current theme. Please check how it should display on our live demo here: http://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/
4) Unfortunately the article titles in modules and blocks can only be changed with css as the theme has no option to change their color. (you can change the active hover color from visual composer block settings as seen on our demo homepage.)
You can use this code to change the titles:
.td_module_wrap .entry-title a{
color:blue!important
}
I hope this helps.
Thank you!
Hi Luca,
Glad to see you are making progress. Cludflare could be causing some issues if different settings are used. We have a guide on it with the settings we recommend: https://forum.tagdiv.com/cloudflare-cdn/
Your css above did not work because you use 2 classes that apply to the body. If you use both classes that are used by the same element you have to remove the space between them, so the code will work like this:
.single-post.td-boxed-layout #td-outer-wrap{width:100%!important;}
We use a little tool called live css editor. It’s a chrome extension that helps a great deal with editing css.
As for the implementation request, we try to implement as much features in the theme as we can but at the same time keep the theme as light as possible. It is a very hard decision as we have lots of suggestions and there are lots of cool stuff we could implement but it will only make the theme heavier (and it’s pretty ‘heavy’ as it is).
I will pass this info on to our development team and we’ll see what they decide.
Thank you!
