We updated the documentation for the fonts settings along with newspaper 7 so it shouldn;t have been a hassle at all: https://forum.tagdiv.com/font-customization/
The steps are simple. Download the font, add it in your root wp folder (no path required, just the name of the font in the url field) or a new folder that will require the full path to the font (your browser should download the font if you access the path you type in the field.)
Then name it and select it from the fonts section.
Not too complicated. (I hope). The font you set on pages should affect all pages, not just the homepage. please provide a link to your site so we can inspect the fonts and see why it does not apply across all the site.

I am someone who like to keep my plugins up to date whether I use them or not.. that being said, I see WPBakery came with the theme (which I already paid and arm and a leg for).. When I try to update WPBakery, it claims I do not have a license and need to shell out additional funds to have a license. I have tried to update it and continue to get this:
An error occurred while updating WPBakery Visual Composer: Update package not available.
There is a new version of WPBakery Visual Composer available. View version 4.12 details. Automatic update is unavailable for this plugin. To receive automatic updates license activation is required. Please visit settings to activate your Visual Composer. Got Visual Composer in theme?
Visual Composer also should have a license I assume as it was detected with the theme. But the WPBakery update notification will endlessly bug me until the end of time until it is updated. Please advise on a fix. Visual Composer, when I try to activate it, does not have a license.

I did a search in the forum and saw that other people encountered similar problems with mine. However, my situation is a bit different therefore I created a new topic. If you feel it would be better to move this somewhere else, in a different topic, please do so, by all means!
So to the issue: I just installed Newspaper and Visual Composer on a dedicated server. The problem is that the homepage loads too slow (gmetrix says loading time is 45 seconds!!!), regardless of whether I have caching installed. I tried disabling all plugins with no luck. Then I totally deleted my installation of wordpress and did the whole thing from scratch. The second I enabled the theme and visual composer, the homepage became terribly slow again, even though I haven’t really used it, or created any posts! My gut says that this is more a Visual Composer issue rather than the topic. Please note that i manually installed the Visual Composer and not by the theme page.
The interesting thing is that, on the same server I have another installation of wordpress using Newsmag and the visual composer and it works like a charm! Not only that, this installation is a live website with more than 40 posts per day and more than 25000 visits per day and it works flawlessly! I could really use some help to identify what went wrong! If you need wp-admin access, please let me know!

Thanks, after I installed the demo I got an internal server error. i reinstalled a fresh copy of wordpress but now my media library is empty, at least I still have all my posts. I wish there was a more clear warning. I also did not know that the included 6 months support that came with the theme meant that I had access to a forum.
I apologise for my frustration but I was not expecting this much hassle to come with this theme. I watched the video explaining that all you had to do to install a demo was to click install and it would be beautiful, which is clearly not the case. I have my own content and I dont want to have content on my site that has nothing to do with my site, so if I click on “do not include content”, I have to build the theme from scratch. That kind of defeats the purpose of having bought the bloody theme in the first place!
So, I have set up a page with template “Pagebuilder + latest articles + pagination”. It gets its content from a custom post type. The first page looks OK: it fills with the latest 10 posts. Also, the pagination looks good: it fills with the right number of pages.
But, when I click on ‘2’ (so the second row of 10 posts) I get a “404 Not Found error”.
BTW, on ‘Blocks’ (with AJAX pagination) it works flawlessly, but I want to have it working on the ‘latest articles’ template.

Hello,
I installed the newspaper theme and followed the instructions in the documentation to create a home page. Including the step to go to Settings > Reading and set the newly created home page as the Front page.
However, when I try to access my site, the browser displays an error page stating:
“The page isn’t redirecting properly
Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete.
This problem can sometimes be caused by disabling or refusing to accept cookies.”
This is the same case in all browsers. I tried other themes and did not get the same issue. Can you please help me resolve this problem?
FYI – My site has an SSL certificate installed. Please let me know if you need more details.

Hi,
You should be able to use thumbnails properly without duplication. Our theme displays the featured image on the post itself so there is no need to add the image again in the post content itself. If you want to use the post styles without duplication, please remove the images from your post content. unfortunately there is no automatic way of doing this. if it;s too big of a hassle to delete all of them, then use post style 5 as it will not show the featured image on the front-end.

Unfortunately disclosing the security risk would put all of the theme users that have not yet updated to a major risk as people would know exactly what to do to hack into someone else’s site. That is the reason why the security risks are not released to the public. It is not a major security issue, just a potential risk. We always try to improve the theme and when we discover such vulnerabilities we fix them as soon as possible. The large amount of updates in this period was not foreseen this way. We understand that it may be a bit of a hassle for the user with all these update messages and we are sorry for the inconvenience, but it’s better than the alternative.

Our theme does not add neither http nor https to the site. If you move to ssl, you have to do it properly:
Tip for switching site to https
You need to add the explicit https URL to your wp-config.php file (see the wordpress.org codex/docs on how to edit/customize your wp-config.php file)
Then you will need to do a database search/replace for old/existing images with http://sitename/uploads/image to https://

having installed Let’s encrypt on cloudways using a default wordpress install with Newspaper theme.
having changed wordpress HOME and SITE URL to https
everything is working, but in for example Chrome:
SSL is “green” on the admin (/wp-admin)
SSL is not “green” on the website.
saying:

Mixed Content
The site includes HTTP resources.
”
and sure enough, the newspaper logo, logo-mobile, bg, 8 (etc.) images are still http. So it seems Newspaper theme forces http and doesn’t serve the image files for the theme like WordPress want’s it to (as https://)
is this a general bug in Newspaper theme and if so, are you fixing it ? – is there a workaround for now ? Or am I doing something completely wrong ?
3,4) It seems we have some miscommunication here. I do not ask for customization. The only thing I ask is an explanation of what I have done wrong. I did everything according to your instructions (the steps I did are described above). The only question I have is what I did wrong and what steps were made not according to the instructions? I have already used child themes on 4 other sites I have with 4 other themes. So I have never experienced any issues in it. At other themes it works perfectly. I have read the documentation you provided several times and I did everything according to the manual, but it still doesn’t work. Really hope for your advise.

9. I do understand that. The reason I’m raising this questions is because it seems in your manual there is a discrepancy. So I decided to help you. You mentioned in the manual that we should use CloudFlare, but in the same time you mentioned that gzip compression is required. So if gzip compression is enaebled at CloudFlare by default, probably it would be helpful for the rest of the users if you mention that they do not need to enable gzip compression at the server when they are connected to Cloudflare, as otherwise two gzip compressions will be enabled: at CLoudflare (which is turned on by default) + at their own server. That is the only reason I mentioned it. I believe it really cool when people can help each other, that is why I mentioned it but not because I’m looking for support in the question. When people help each other for no reason, it makes the world better )
11. Isn’t it directly concerns proper work of the speed booster plugin? I believe if we resolve the issue, we will make the plugin better together, won’t we? If we resolve the issue, other users will never face it and will consider the theme as the best in the world.
14. Let me mention that I know the steps required to be made. That code perfectly works at any of my other sites, but it doesn’t work with newspaper 🙁 That is the reason why I asked for support here. For 4 year at my previous theme I gathered hundred of thousands taxonomies. All I want is to make my web site works with the new theme at least on the same level as it worked on the previous one. I would really appreciate if you could potentially consider a possibility of giving me a hand with this unusual question.

If I add the same code in functions.php which is placed in codebase folder — everything works properly. So the question remains — what have I done wrong? The names of the files are the same in both folders child and codebase.

7. Sorry. It seems I wasn’t clear with my question at all. Let me build my question in a different way. The issue is the following, let’s say I have the article about Obama. And I set it to 3 different sections – I made the post featured + I put in Politics category and World category. It means that the article about Obama will appear on the home page 3 times. First time in the section with Featured posts. Second time in the section with Politics. Third time in section with World news. The question is how to avoid duplicating posts on the home page when the post is placed in different categories?

Newspaper works fine with both and has nothing to do with the TLS/HTTPS setting on your web host.
It’s possible there is something in theme trying to load via https. When trying to login to your site, does it show http in top bar when you’re logged in ?
Also possible GoDaddy may be started to enable the new free https for sites and didn’t tell you — but that is unlikely (yet), but something to watch out for 😉
Also, fyi, SSL is obsolete, so think in terms of “https” and not “SSL” moving forward. SSL is actually not secure, and has never been, was replaced by TLS, and the first two versions of that were/are not secure either.
I keep saying “SSL” too, and have to stop myself!
Not sure any of that helps… just some feedback.

I have issue related to https and http.
1) I have hosted my website on godaddy. I do not have SSL or HTTPS enbled on my server. And my website is not opening up. it shows that “connection is not secure”. Although, i am able to see front-end part but i am not able to open my back-end(admin) part. when i try to open admin panel it shows me the error “connection is not secure”.
Now strange point is:
2) I have another hosting server with bluehost which only works on http. there is no https or SSL enbled. But in that hosting i am fully able to open both part(front-end and back-end) of my website.
Question:1) why i am facing this problem?
2) should i buy SSL certification to solve this problem??
3) does newspaper theme works fine for both protocol??
I hope i would get suitable help to solve this issue.

I’m not here that much anymore, but again this week have been doing some pesky web server upgrades for the ImageMagick exploit and we’re hardening our FTP to only work with SFTP and not allow FTP/SSL connections anymore.
There was also a YOAST SEO update this week, too.
ANyway… you won’t see me around here much anymore, but i do pop in from time to time. Glad my past comments here helped somebody.

I made all about moving to https before to write here yesterday, everything working fine only I have problem with Video Playlist Youtube.
the problem is that I obtain Mixed Content because you use http and not https when you save the record at the database. I continue thinking that you have a bug.
I made a routine that check the website using is_ssl() function and return all time “https” in fact all the site work perfect with your variable $http_or_https, I checked and you use that variable all time in the theme and working perfect.
I checked that you use in “td_video_support.php” the function is_ssl() and it seems is working right but when I check at the database the value that you saved in meta_key column (postmeta) I found the record with “http” and not with the value “https” so I guess in somewhere you are losing the value or something ¿?.
I hope I could to explain with my poor english (sorry) Please check the issue ….

Yes, you should just abandon support for Safari/Windows — the issue is not with the site; it’s with Safari which Apple abandoned 4 years ago (!).
So anybody using it will be having problems with the entire internet, SSL, email, Google, Amazon, Netflix, etc.
Anybody using Safari on a PC, will likely get the message by now to switch to Chrome on Windows 7/8, or Edge on Windows 10.
It’s really totally crap and doesn’t support modern security so is an easily hacked browser via malware and bad actors on the web.
It’s a fool’s errand to try to “break your site” to work with Safari/PC as that kind of hacking might break things for everything else.
You can try to add some helper elements to your header to load in legacy code, much like you can for IE6/7.

This depends on how you move your site to ssl. The theme does not add neither http nor https to any pat of the site. You need to make these modifications when moving to ssl.

I have problem with the element “Video Playlist Youtube” when I run my website under SSL Certificate because you are using images with not secure links ….
Example when you build td_video_thumb link >>>>>>>

The correct way is to use href with https:// in that links in order don’t have alert in the browser (firefox for example).
