Problem with widget order in theme sidebars - reply

Note you can’t easily edit any of the ‘pre-defined” sidebar areas in the visual composer; you need to create new row, e.g.,
[ x x ] [ x ]

then assign home page side bar to either std widget or custom widget for home page, which you create from one of the edit category page; then add desired items to the sidebar.

If you are talking about regular sidebars under appearance > widgets

then likely a plugin conflict?

Category Top Posts Style in Main Blog Index - topic

Hello,

I’m trying to replicate category style top posts grid in main blog page. I have found that this piece of code is responsible. So I copied it inside the container to index page and it shows perfectly.

Except for one feature, it duplicates posts in the blog page. I wonder if anyone know how can I manually disable duplicate posts in index.php in addition to this code.

We don’t use Visual Composer, tagdiv speed booster or any other plugin bundled with theme.
Why? Because I have tried every version but our CPU use still goes crazy and site is non responsive with these plugins enabled. I have waited for a month for updates, got them, nothing changed. I tried nearly every plugin combination, including disabling every other plugin and only enabling these plugins. It’s impossible, page load time goes to 45 seconds to no response. In my previous post I explained that this happens with hundreds of concurrent online users, so normal blogs need not be alarmed. Also it just doesn’t load normally in page edit screen (Checked for that option it’s correctly set) it gets loaded then dissapears out of page. Tried with different browsers too. But solving is not important anymore with high admin ajax use on server it’s done for me.

I like the themes quality coding, speed, style and options. But with in this situation I have to make this simple change because I can’t use VC for this. I would very much love to see some more styling options included for blog and posts section of theme options, instead of relying on VC.

So if you can point me in right direction I want to make this change works.

Site Speed test results: Pagespeed Insight

Hi,

I’m trying to improve the speed of the site, my mobile speed results are currently only 40/100
I’ve got Gzip on, I’m running Total Cache, I’ve compressed all images with EWWW

I have tried the TagDIV speed booster plugin with the steps outlined on this page

However, the list it produced didn’t seem to correlate with the actual page insight results (with the exception of a couple)

I’m wondering are able to provide a list of corresponding id’s for some of the above that I can try adding to the td-speed-booster.php file or should I just take every ID from the list and paste them into the speed-booster.php?

Any suggestions you can make would be greatly appreciated, I was considering trying Better Wordppress Minify Not sure is it’s compatible with the theme or not?

1. contact-form-7/includes/js/jquery.form.min.js (should not be there as it is part of theme package)

You might have noticed above that I have in fact added ID’s of blocking styles and Js at the appropriate place in speedbooster plugin but these are still appearing in Pagespeed insights results.

Can you please guide to resolve the matter as suggested solution is assumingly not working

Hi,

Please make sure that you disable all plugins, leave only Visual Composer active, empty cache and check if in the td_config.php is not changed the height of the featured image, it must be like this: http://screencast.com/t/Q1xoBxdJi and also in the post template file: http://screencast.com/t/ykAcfPT6
If you verified this and without plugins active, upload an image make create a test post.

Also please try this without any plugins active, leave just Visual Composer active, empty cache and check if you still have issues. Let me know!

I tried adding some css to the columns but does not seem to work (td-ss-main-sidebar, td-ss-main-content).

In our folder structure, there is no functions.php file in the wp-admin folder, as there is in your screenshot. However, there is a functions.php file in the wp-includes folder.

That functions.php file does not contain the function

function td_disable_visual_composer_features()

that I would need to edit.

Unfortunately you will have some issues like this if you use Visual Composer plugin also on post pages. The VC is specifically designed for pages so we don’t recommend to be on posts.

4. That space appears because the Popular Videos block is on a different row then Editor block and that space cannot be reduced via css code. You can try to add another block in the Popular videos column or remove Travel Guides block from that row.

5. You can add an extra class to the column and target block 10 using inspector tool.

7. WordPress has some default cropping sizes http://screencast.com/t/ifk8fE1HYk and we added more sizes inside the functions.php file – http://screencast.com/t/2QaaubXnqxL
Those sizes are used on modules and sliders (including the Big Slider), you can read here about the thumbs used on modules and sliders https://forum.tagdiv.com/modules-and-blocks/ It isn’t an ideal image size so it can look good on all thumbs.

mixed content ssl error after update - topic

I updated the theme a few days ago, I notice i see a warning in chrome:

Hi Alin,

I have:
– updated theme to 1.7.
– updated all plugins coming with download package (including td social counter plugin)
– disabled all plugins, and all except JS Composer,

but, the issue persist.

Visual Composer plug-in acting as if not updated - topic

Hi,
I updated the theme but the Visual Composer plug-in is acting as if was not updated:
1/cannot use the front end editor (won’t appear)
2/ grid elements broken and full of errors

Also if this doesn’t solve the issue please try to delete Visual Composer and install it again.

Hi,
I’ve added two custom blocks in my Newsmag child theme using your “td_api_module” and “td_api_block” class inside my functions.php:

I’ve added this module and block using the init-hook. The module then shows up inside the theme panel, e.g. categories. But “block 17” doesn’t appear inside the widget page. What am I doing wrong?

Another problem concerns the typography: Is it possible to change the h4 inside the block_title to h2?
