Hello djgruber,

The Pinterest is not part of our Social Counter, sorry! In a future update, it is possible but we cannot say for sure if it will get done in the next update because it is not a simple task and also, we have a big list of fixes, improvements, and suggestions to implement. It’s hard to filter them and select which one gets implemented now and which one gets postponed. The developers will decide if it gets done or not, though.

Hope this helps!

Thanks!

Hi,
You can update the theme directly using this guide: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/
As for the customization, you need to re-add the modifications as theme files get modified when updating. you can make a back-up of your file and check the updated files list here: http://tagdiv.com/td_deploy/Newspaper/changed_files_6.6_7.0.html and if your modified files are on this list, it means you have to re-add the modification. If the file is not on the list, you can replace the new file with your modified one.
Thank you!

Hi

Make sure you update the theme according with our documentation as page source seem to be incomplete. Also if you made any changes in theme’s core file make sure that they don’t break its functionality.

Thanks!

Also I have custom modification. Do I need to download the files and replace them after update or I can save them other way?

Thanks!

Hello,

I haven’t updated the last time before 7 version. Can I update now to 7 without updating previous?

Thanks!

Hi,
If you do not have any custom modifications made to the theme files, then please follow this guide to update your theme: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/
Please be sure to hit the save button in the theme panel after the update is complete. Also make sure to update your visual composer plugin: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-visual-composer-plugin/ and also the social counter plugin (using the same method)
Thank you!

Hi,
Please make sure you update your theme to the latest version and update the visual composer. Make sure you have version 4.11.2 of visual composer.

Please, where can I find the 4.0 version of the Social Counter? I try to update from panel and all I get is the version 3.2…
so my facebook counter only shows 0:
http://futurhobby.com/magaz/

I have updated theme, plugins, deleted cache… what am I missing, please?
Thank you!

Hi,
Please try to disable all plugins except visual composer, clear cache and reset cdn files.
This will rule out a plugin conflict. Next, hit the ‘save’ button in the theme panel again for the theme to grab the settings from your previous install. Another thing to try is to activate the main theme if you use a child theme (a child theme is not update proof and it will have to be updated as well)
Let us know how it goes.
Thank you!

Hi,
Please make sure you update the social counter as well. Disable and delete files for your current version from the plugins section and install it from here: http://screencast.com/t/UDsnctOhOY2 Please check in the plugins section to verify you have the correct version (4.0)
Thank you!

Hi,
Every update no matter the size, if it’s a dot revision or not, will require you to update the child theme if the files get modified. A child theme is basically a copy of the files from the main theme. If the files in the main theme will get updated and the ones in the child theme do not, then conflicts can and will appear as you cannot run a new version of the theme with old un-updated child theme files. If you use a child theme you have to pay attention on every update to see the modified files and if one or more files that you have in your child theme get modified, you have to replace them with the new files and re-add the customization. A child theme is not update proof. In big updates such as this, it;s recomended to simply re-create it from scratch using the child theme provided in the theme files: http://screencast.com/t/lj7QEZ29
Then you can follow this guide to re-create it: https://forum.tagdiv.com/the-child-theme-support-tutorial/
Thank you!

Hello alexander-greco,

Please ensure that you have done your update via FTP and also, please check if you are using the latest version of Social Counter plugin (v. 4.0) After checking the results, please try to clear all your caches, purge your CDN files if you are using and then you can check the results.

Hope this helps and let us know how it goes!

Thank you for your understanding!

Hello,
It depends on the settings you have on your site. If these are just theme panel settings, then they will not be lost as these are kept in the database. It is however recommended doing a back-up of your instalation forst just in case. Theme files customization however will probably not work anymore as lots of files got updated so customization probably will have to be re-made.
After you install the new version of the theme make sure you click the save button in the theme panel for it to grab the settings and display properly.
Thank you!

Hello ilnegozio,

Unfortunately, as a general rule, we recommend always doing backup for each update to be more safety in this regard.

1,3)If you have a custom CSS in your CSS box, please try to re-save it again as the code to be regenerated in the new version of Newspaper (v. 7.0).
2)Please ensure that you have correctly updated your theme via FTP and also, please check if you have the latest version of Social Counter installed on your side (version 4.0).

Hope this helps and let us know how it goes!

Thank you for the message!

Hi,
The old version of the social counter will not work with newspaper 7. Please Update your plugin by deactivating and deleting files and then installing it again from here: http://screencast.com/t/BVV4Uwsm8dp
Make sure you have social counter version 4.0: http://screencast.com/t/1ml2JAEDF
Thank you!

Hello,
The social counter works as expected. Please try to set it up properly by following this guide: https://forum.tagdiv.com/tagdiv-social-counter-tutorial/
Then either clear your cache or wait for it to update as it;s not a live count. It makes a few request per day to grab the count.
As for the mobile theme, we have no reports of this yet. Was this issue with the mobile theme installed or without the mobile theme plugin?
Thank you!

Hello pietro89,

The latest version of WordPress ‘break’ the Visual Composer. Please try to update the theme to the latest version (v.7.0) and also, the Visual Composer to the latest version (4.11.2), clears all your caches and check the results and see how it works.

Hope this helps and let us know how it goes!

Thanks.

Hello sindrimyr,

For each update, before doing that we recommend doing a backup to be in safety mode in any case. Please check this documentation here -> https://codex.wordpress.org/WordPress_Backups and then do a clean update, meaning that we recommend that you delete the old version of the theme before uploading the new one – https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/ update also the plugins that come with the theme files from the /plugins folder. Please notice that all your settings which are made it from your panel are loaded in your database. Also, if you have some customization through code, you will have to do a backup and then you should try to re-implement this in Newspaper 7 files.

Thank you for your understanding!

Thanks for your response. Please can you direct me to the documentation on updating child themes as I did not see anything on that in your update process information, or your v7 readme.
