The files from your child theme will not be deleted. But if you make an update to your theme that means the main theme files will be replaced. This also means that the files you have modified got modified in our update, you will have to replace them inside of your child theme and remake the modifications. The child theme is not update proof. There is no such thing as a modification you can make and have constant updates without it affecting your modification. The code gets changed, so if you keep your modified file with the old code, your website will break. What you have to do is make a list of the files you modified in the child theme to keep track of them, then check the modified files between the theme updates: https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/updated-files-from-6-6-4-to-6-6-5/
If you modified any of those files, you need to download the new file and modify it again and replace it with the one from your child theme.

I have moved my site over to HTTPS. I have altered the DB as i usually do to add https to the url. This has updated all of the URLs on the site, but all of the CSS and JS files are being blocked because they are being included as http files. I dont think its a major error, but based on the help i have gotten so far people are blaming the theme for this. I have checked header.php and functins and there are no lines that could be causing this.
In rooting through header.php i found <?php echo td_global::$http_or_https?>. What triggers this to be https? Is this the cause of the site not including external files as https?

IF can also try activate the main theme if you have a child theme active. On old and not updated child theme can also cause issues.

Please check if you have not disabled the images from the theme panel.
@Olak Your problem is very different. Your images cannot be found in the specified path, that is why you get the small icon . Please make sure you have the specific images in the original path. If not, please add your images again in the media library.

So you mean, I have to download all files under the “childe theme” directory and after the update, I create another child theme, and upload my files I downloaded first?

Do you have any modifications in your child theme? that is an important notice as if you do please check the modified files between versions and remake your modifications to the new files. (you will have to replace modified files in the child theme as well) It is recommended to recreate your child theme every few updates. There is one included with every update.

If you do not have any other modifications, then you can simply replace all files and that’s it. You can update directly via ftp and replace all the files. Or maybe you have other modifications and you know the files modified for those ones so you would not replace all files. (best to always keep track and back-ups of your modifications).
There is another way to find modified files. If you have the latest version of the theme, then you can use this tool: https://forum.tagdiv.com/compare-theme-files-winmerge-tutorial/ to compare theme files from the default theme to yours.

I have added this suggestion on our list of improvements but we cannot say for sure that in the next update this option will be implemented because this is decided only by our developers. We have a big list of fixes, improvements and suggestions to implement. It’s hard to filter them and select which one gets implemented now and which one gets postponed. The developers decide if it gets done or not, though. Until we can do it, you can try in the way shown above. Please notice that is not a simple task and if you have no idea about the steps, please hire someone to help you because we cannot provide customization services at the moment, sorry!

I have a version of this theme that I cannot update to the latest version (at least for now) because it causes a lot of problems with the site since it’s had a lot of customisation over time.
The version of Newsmag we’re using is 1.7
I would like to know, if possible, what parts of the theme were changed to fix the pagination issue when Big Grid not being used that was addressed in version 2.3.3 so that I can factor the fix into the theme we’re using.

You can add multiple conditions to the code if you wish to change it.
As for the plugin, we are not sure how the plugin works. You will need to use the implementation method specified by the plugin author. If you want to modify this behavior, we cannot offer any suggestions as we have not tested the plugin and have no idea of it;s functionality.
For the third part, there is no benefit at all, as different versions of visual composer will not work with pur theme properly except for the one that comes bundled with our theme. I’m a very happy tagdiv customer and I’m writing to ask you if it’s possible, using newspaper 6, to make something like this:

If you follow the link you will understand better what I want to say!
1. The link, altough it was only 1 url, opens at least 2 articles (the other appear when you scroll down).
2. When you scroll down and you enter on the next article zone the url changes (this is very important because it counts as a pageview and reloads the ads!)
3. While scrolling down, the website loads 2 more articles and, once more, the url always changes when you enter the next article zone.
4. Note that the articles number 3 and 4 are loaded when the user is not even on the middle of the article 1 (wich is also very important)
So… it’s easy to do something like this? Do I need to pay a freelancer to do it? If so, can you recomend me someone?
By the way… It would be amazing if you guys ad this feature to a next update. It’s used by the major websites of the world. Please think about it!

So I changed the name of my Facebook, Twitter and Instagram and updated in the theme panel but those changes are not reflecting on the site. What do I do?
Update : Published a fresh post to go in the gird – still no change – there are girds on my category pages too – they all work perfectly – but when hovering on any story on home page grid – browser link shows westbridgfordwire.com not full url

2) You can create your pages for the categories in visual composer and create a simple 301 redirect for your category links to the specific pages you want.

the revolution slider plugin is bundled with the theme so updates can only come through our theme updates. You can get the latest version we can provide from the latest version of the theme (rev slider 5.1.5)

Hi, I have 2 development suggestions for next theme updates:
1.) Selectable “blank_page” style for pages: a whole white page without logo and menu for landing pages and special project pages.
2.) Theme panel categories: optional substitute page for category pages.
I mean, that create a specific page with Visual Composer, and set this page as a category page for one or more categories.
Then make the other one page for another category(ies).
And the other categories got the default category page.
I hope you understand what I think. (sorry, my English is poor…)

The option will work with the stretch option as well. This was fixed in newspaper 6 but the documentation did not get updated. I removed that part from the docs now. You can use the stretch option with the background ad without problems.

2) The best thing to do is replace the file you modified to implement the google search. You can download the theme from themeforest and replace the file. Might want to update your theme with this occasion.

The child theme is most useful when you want to do some additional customizations in theme. The idea of creating a theme right after you’ve just purchased one that you like might seem a little weird. However, when using a child theme you can make changes to the theme without altering the original theme’s code. If you create a child theme you’ll make a completely different set of files that you’ll use without ever having to touch the original theme. This will make it so much easier when it’s time to update and it will make it so that you don’t accidentally damage the original theme. Also, if you mess up the child theme you can just revert back to the original, or parent, theme. It’s most useful to use a child theme when you’re customizing a theme. Most of the themes that WordPress offers for free, like their twentysomething series, are simple. With a few adjustments they can fit your purpose, much better. If you use a child theme, you’ll easily be able to revert back to the original theme if you make a mistake, or even if you just want to change something back to the way it originally was. Some themes aren’t really meant to be customized, since they’re purchased for a specific reason.

Unfortunately, our theme has not been designed to support as feature video from Facebook, only from YouTube, Vimeo and Dailymotion sorry! You can do this only through some plugins with this functionality or you can try to implement this function in our theme if you want. Please notice that is not a simple task and require to know solid knowledge about hard coding ->PHP/JS/HTML/CSS. If you want to display more levels in our theme and you are not aware to the steps in this regard, please consider hiring a freelancer/developer to do this for you because we cannot provide custom services at the moment, sorry!
