Hello everyone.
I just updated from 6.5 to 6.6 and all my custom sidebars are disapeared and can’t create new ones. Nothing happens when I try to create or recover sidebars already created. On widgets section are missing too.
10x in advance.
Hi StockFanatic,
We are sorry for the inconvenience but Facebook changed a few things that made the social counter not work anymore. This was fixed in the current version of the theme which went live yesterday.
Please update your theme to the latest version (6.6) and also update the social counter plugin by deleting your current one and installing the one that comes with the theme: http://screencast.com/t/Zo16smkGYD2 .
For more information about how to update our theme to new version, please consult our documentation here: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/ and here, http://tagdiv.com/newspaper-6-6-update/ , you can see the new content updates.
I hope this helps!
Thank you!
Hello,
Sorry for the inconvenience. This is a known issue. Facebook made a few modifications that cut access to our social counter. This was fixed however as of yesterday when the new theme version was released. Please update the theme to the latest version (6.6) and also update your social counter plugin by removing it from your plugins area and installing it from the theme panel: http://screencast.com/t/Zo16smkGYD2
Thank you!
Hi
I suspect that you added this button: http://screencast.com/t/su3fY2emkW using a plugin. I am not sure what plugins you’re using and how it works so please provide more details about the way you added the button and maybe I can help you. However if you’re using an untested plugin there is a chance to not work properly with the theme and you may need additional customization to correct it. Unfortunately we cannot offer custom work as we work hard on the development, updates, fixes and support but you can always get a freelancer from sites like: http://studio.envato.com/ to do this for you.
Thanks!
Maybe this is a silly question but I need some help…
I recently updated my Newspaper Theme from 4 to 6 and have since noticed a considerable drop in traffic reported in Google Analytics since making the upgrade. See pic below… Traffic drops dramatically the very day that I upgraded (28th Oct)!
http://hotcued.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/Screen-Shot-2015-11-25-at-11.11.56.png
Could updating the theme actually cause a drop in traffic?
Or is it more likely that it has upset the tracking code somehow and GA is now reporting incorrectly?
I am concerned that maybe I only have the tracking code setup on my homepage now and not on any other pages of my site but I’m not sure how to check or modify this… Surely I don’t have to add it to each page individually?
Can someone help please? Gary
and i have been tried to update my Visual composer, and the thumbnail still not show.

Hey I am wondering, how did you update visual composer? Did you use the new version from the new theme files?
Like this: http://prntscr.com/96ph59
if not from theme files then it wont work.
Hello,
The main reason we found to cause this error is the Photon feature of jetpack. Please try to turn it off as it is known to cause issues with our theme. If the problem is still there after you deactivate photon or if you do not use it at all, please try to disable all plugins except visual composer and check the smarlist again.
Another thing you can do is update your theme to the latest version (6.6).
I hope this helps
Thank you!
Hello,
Unfortunately due to facebook changes we have many reports of issues. You can try to update the theme to the latest version as many improvements were made.
Please set the OG tag from the SEO Yoast plugin as Chris suggested and check sharing again.
Let us know if the problem is still there after.
Thank you!
Hello,
Unfortunately the code was changed since that version of the theme. I think you are reffering to this topic: https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/co-authors-guest-author-and-author-link/#post-14146. The theme had 2 major updates since then. The code was changed and that method does not apply anymore. Plus it was made for newspaper. Newsmag is a different theme.
Thank you!
Hi InfinitCode,
I’ve checked the Css Style on our theme and everything seems to works fine. I am not fully sure about what kind of Css Style you mean. Please provide more details about this problem so i can be able to provide a more accurate response. If you have a Custom Css style, there will not be applied on our version because they changed some classes. Here, you can see that contains our update: http://tagdiv.com/newspaper-6-6-update/ .
Thank you for your understanding!
Hi, I love the theme and have run it for a few years on my magazine website. Today I updated to the latest version and lost all of my customizations and settings so its looking a bit sad right now đ
Anyway I’ve figured out how to get it back to a somewhat functional state however I can’t find how to create a new sidebar.
If I remember correctly its in the widgets page and you drag and drop what you want, however my page only shows;
‘Newspaper default’
‘Footer 1’
‘Footer 2’
‘Footer 3’ with no option for a sidebar although there is an option to drag inactive sidebar widgets to an area down below.
I know that Newspaper Default is a sidebar but I have 200+ posts all displaying a sidebar I created in the past called ‘Post Sidebar’ I ideally I want to create a new sidebar with that title so it automatically updates all posts.
Thanks for your help.
Hello,
Please update your theme to the latest version usaing this tutorial: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/
Also, as Chris suggests (thank you Chris) update your plugins: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-visual-composer-plugin/. Remove the current version and install the new version which comes with the theme.
Let us know how it goes.
Thanks
Hello,
The code i provided is a css code and requires no alteration of the php code. You simply put the code in the theme panel->custom css box. Or if you already updated your theme to the latest version, it’s called the ‘custom code’ tab now: http://screencast.com/t/ParnmwE4N
Thank you!
Hello,
Please make sure you also update the social counter plugin. Please delete your current social counter from the plugins section of wordpress: http://screencast.com/t/dH3xHlzhHxy and then install the new social counter from the theme panel: http://screencast.com/t/bcNRjwguP
Let us know how it goes.
Thank you!

Hello,
I checked your post and shared it. Again without problems: http://screencast.com/t/x0pUSda9f.
It seems that you need to hit the share button a couple of times until facebook can grab the image.
Thank you for reporting this issue, but unfortunately there is little we can do about it. When facebook gets overcrowded, issues like this can happen.
A new update for newspaper was just released and it fixes a few important issues. Please update to the newest version and see if this sharing issue still exists.
Thank you.
Hi Lucian, the old post is not quite clear on the method, you mention css and I can’t tell if that is an additional fix for something else or for the date etc.
Could you please repost the exact code to remove the date and in what file please.
Also what about this method?
1. Using Code in Functions File
This can be considered as the aggressive version of removing date and time-stamp from your WordPress blog. It is very powerful and removes the function of every php code, that helps to generate date. Date displayed in the comments will also be completely removed.
/** Start of Remove Date TimeStamp from blog posts */
function remove_post_dates() {
add_filter('the_time', '__return_false');
add_filter('get_the_time', '__return_false');
add_filter('the_modified_time', '__return_false');
add_filter('get_the_modified_time', '__return_false');
add_filter('the_date', '__return_false');
add_filter('get_the_date', '__return_false');
add_filter('the_modified_date', '__return_false');
add_filter('get_the_modified_date', '__return_false');
add_filter('get_comment_date', '__return_false');
add_filter('get_comment_time', '__return_false');
}
add_action('loop_start', 'remove_post_dates');
/** End of Remove Date TimeStamp from blog posts */
Add this code to functions.php file in your theme and update it. Wait for Google Search Bots to crawl and index your blog posts. Date will be removed from meta description of search results.

I read this article How to Remove Date From Google Search Results
Itâs a better idea to remove dates from last year content, and for all latest content (ex: 2013 posts), let the date remain intact.
Note: I donât recommend hiding date, rather show last updated time.
This is getting confusing…. Many sites say don’t hide it, some say don’t delete it and leave space, google hates space…too confusing….
I guess I’ll leave it in, there’s a reason why it’s coded in, maybe i shouldn’t mess with it and hope google doesn’t punish bloggers for having a date in their snippet.

I updated Newspaper 6 and have run into many problems. After the update, I could not access the theme panel. When I tried, I got this error message:
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected end of file in /home/awakene0/public_html/jaywalkingtheglobe.com/dir/wp-content/themes/Newspaper/includes/wp_booster/external/class-tgm-plugin-activation.php on line 1131
I tried many things to rectify the problem, usually I’m able to solve computer problems, but the situation got worse. Now I can’t even deactivate a plug in or access appearance – themes to reinstall the theme from scratch. In fact, I can’t access anything. I get the message:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function add_action() in /home/awakene0/public_html/jaywalkingtheglobe.com/dir/wp-includes/functions.php on line 18
How do I solve this problem?
