Hello. I have a question. My WP install shows I am using version x of Newspaper theme. I can’t find the patches to go from version x to 3.8. I realize I can reinstall everything, but there are quite a few customizations I don’t want to lose in the processing of updating.

What is the best approach to this in your opinion? It looks like you had similar issues.

What do you mean ? I’ve updated to the 3.7 but it doesn’t work with cache enabled only when cache is deseabled. But i need cache plugin to make my website faster.

You mean i have to update to 3.8 ?

After The theme update these editing not work. I tryied child theme also but not working. In New theme i have edited files but not theme not work properly after editing.

I would like to inform that when we click the twitter share button, our account that include _ not type by default. So we or reader must edited/add _. Example, the correct one is @News_paper, but the result is: @News paper. So link not to our account but to other account that we dont know.
Any suggest how to fix it?

Same problem.

With Newspaper 3.7 I was able to login.

No changes in my plugins.

Since Newspaper 3.8 update I cannot.

try downloading the latest version of the theme (3.7), inside it you will find the latest td-social-counter plugin, update to the latest version.

Hey ‘Big K’ ! (popping in just to check on bugs for new update) …

I asked about this previously. Because the layout “below the full width navbar” is in three sections for advertising option:

[left] | [mid-body-mid] | [right]

you would basically need to apply a background image to the left element, and the right element to achieve that.

And so to do a gradient background top-down to cover full width, you’d pretty much need to apply gradient to [left] [mid] [right] as three sep divs/sections. Or, to leave center area alone, you’d apply a background to the two divs, sort of like manually applying an image in place of adverts to those two divs – outside the theme options; using custom CSS.

There is answer from marius/radu on this topic on how to do it now, if you’re interested in hunting that down. Sorry I don’t have it handy.

Yes the counter works without cache plugin enabled. But I hoped it will work with this update…

Sure. Glad it’s working for you now. You’re really going to like the features of this theme.

You should go ahead and start enabling the plugins you want to use one by one, testing the site after each activation to make sure things are still working correctly. Once you find the plugin that breaks it again, post the name of it here so the developers know what plugin it is and may possibly be able to fix the incompatibility from their end in the next update.

That would be my suggestion. Many other themes offer this setting in the options panel for this very reason.

Hello! I think it should not be placed via @ Sitename, the site title is long and does not resume the twitter username. I would put an option in the theme settings where you can enter the Twitter username. What do you think?

Still have the problem with the missing images in Visual Composer even with today’s update.

After the update of the template (version 3.8) I have had a problem with “register/log in” button via tagDiv Login Form. I mean when you insert the username and password and subsequently click “log in” there is no response. Previously I’ve also had the problem because of this plugin, and still I can’t register. Do you have any suggestions? In addition, my website doesn’t have many plugins which could possibly cause such errors. I use e.g. ( WordPress SEO, Plugin Organizer, tagDiv Speedbooster, tagDiv Social Counter, Regenerate Thumbnails, WpProQuiz, Compact Audio Player, bbPress, Wp Super Cache, JetPack, Aksiment).
What’s more, this plugin has caused many “artificial attempts” to log in which naturally didn’t take place and due to that my hosting provider blocked my IP for some time. Is there any good solution so that my users could register/log in with the use of this plugin? I’d be more than grateful for your help 🙂

Wish I could say for sure what plugin it was, but I ran into the same problem on a demo site I run. The demo runs on the same server as the live site for testing purposes and had all the same plugins activated as my live site, yet the Twitter follower count was zero while the icon and Follow button in the social counter widget went to the correct Twitter profile.

So, I deleted and reinstalled the social counter plugin – updated from 1.0 to 1.3 and no change on the erroneous count.

I then took a guess and decided to delete to a BUNCH of useless old plugins I have tested in the last six months. None were active but something made a difference. So, for lack of a better option, here’s the list of inactive plugins that I deleted…

Something worked. I would guess maybe the cache plugin??? But I have no real clue. Keep in mind some of these plugins are more than 2 years old since last used so most won’t be helpful in figuring out what plugin is causing the conflict.

I’m running 3.7 with VC and WP 3.9 on this site. Never had a problem before I spotted it tonight.

Hi, I still have Newspaper version 3.6 with WP3.8. Today i want to update my website to WP3.9. But i missed to download Newspaper V 3.7. So, Can I upgrade from Newspaper 3.6 to 3.8 without 3.7?

The “Last Updated” area shows May 1st as the most recent, so it should be out tomorrow.

Happy for it myself. All my customizations are safely stored in the database and child theme and this update is a definite bug fix.

Oh Gosh! Another update? I installed 3.5 a month ago and after proper configuration I had to do TWO MORE TIMES, with 3.6 and then 3.7. It took me couple of days each time. Enough with updates! For at least a couple of months 🙂
