I updated my newsmag on my website to 4.9 with child theme on wordpress 5.2.2 and php 7.0. Now I can’t save anything when I make changes to the Theme Panel. When I click Save Settings it keeps running without saving. Have anyone run into this issue and found a fix?
This is a clean install of Newspaper 9 on a brand new updated WP installation
Update all plugins from the Theme (tagDiv Composer etc.)
Hi,
I update the themes without updating the WordPress and then I had maximum chaos.
Can you check that please?
The possibility to make my reports and the option for change text forms and so on was gone.
Then I went to my server company and saw that I had an Backup form this morning and restored it. Somehow the process stopped and I got a mess.
Can you please have a look on it?
Thanks

Hi,
I changed the max_input_vars successfully to 3000 but the system status still shows 1000 and yellow. Even after refreshing, clearing cache and after a few days, the system status still does not update. And I feel this is the one thing that is causing very slow performance of my website from the backend and causing other problems in regards to uploading images and general backend operation.
IS there anything else I can do to make sure the system status updates?
Thanks
Hi,
I have checked and it doesn’t seem to be an update for it – http://prntscr.com/ofnpyf
We investigated the issues with the theme and 6.0.3 and I believe they will be fixed for the next theme update. But if the release a 6.0.4 that works fine, this would be better.
Thank you for mentioning it.
Hi,
In order to hide the comments and author image from the author page and authors elements you can use this custom css
-> https://www.screencast.com/t/HADMeu3pIp
-> https://www.screencast.com/t/Gwdoae5Eqi
.td_top_authors img,
.td_block_authors .td-author-comments-count,
.author .td-author-counters span:last-child { display:none; }
.td_top_authors .item-details {
margin-left: 0;
}
You’ll need to set the code in the Theme panel>Custom code> Custom css
Unfortunately for the moment this is the only filter alphabetical that you can apply using our theme, I think that in the coming updates there will be some more options for sort and filter.
Thank you!
Hi,
Currently that is not possible in 9.7.3. After the 9.7 update most of the theme files were moved in the composer plugin – https://tagdiv.com/updating-the-core-of-tagdiv-themes/
The single files are now there – http://prntscr.com/ofn79q
We will however provide the same child theme capability despite the files being in the plugin, in the coming theme update. So in the next theme update the single files can be copied and customized in the child theme.
We are sorry for the inconvenience. Please let us know if you have more questions.
Thanks
Hi,
So after a theme update for example? Please try to activate the theme again. If the same happens send us an email at contact@tagdiv.com and provide the website and admin login. Include a link to this topic in the email. Let us know.
Thanks
Hi,
I’ll not your suggestion on our suggestions list and maybe in the coming updates this feature will be add.
Meanwhile, maybe consider using a weather plugin that may have such options by default. Some example you could try – https://85ideas.com/plugins/best-wordpress-weather-plugins/

When I first installed the Newspaper theme I was able to access the TD composer and edit pages with it.
Now the composer doesnt seem to load. Whenever I click on edit page and then the edit with TD Composer button I just get grey screen that says failed to load the page.
I uninstalled the theme and plugins, deleted browser cache and reinstalled everything. Now I dont even see the edit with TD composer button anymore.
The other thing is all my plugins say outdated in the Newspaper control panel and trying to update them continually fails.
Hi – Thank you for the reply. These two problems are resolved, thanks to your suggestions. But I also have 3 other questions “while I have you,” listed below.
1) Home page – resolved. There is a header with a top menu and a main menu. Those are OK now. But you might want to know that I made the 4.9 update, the page layout changed and it made some of the items in those menus disappeared. I was able to restore them using the tagDiv editor.
2) The Blog page – resolved. Thanks to the suggestions that you made in your reply, I was able to fix the problem I was having. In the WordPress console > Settings > Reading, I set “Your homepage displays > static page” with Homepage = Home, and Posts page = none ( – select – ). All of the intended appearance and content has returned.
Questions, please:
1) How do I reduce the size of the font for the main menu?
2) Customizing the footer: Please See https://piracymonitor.org. There is a three-column footer. My company information is in the left column, which is OK. For the center column, I can’t find any controls to allow me to “filter” the list of categories for the posts that I expose. In the right column, I want the ‘categories’ list, but again, I can’t figure out how to establish a filter to expose only certain categories. I could not find instructions for this in the online documentation.
3) Footer behavior: Again see https://piracymonitor.org If you click on (any) of the categories listed in the right column of the footer, you are presented with another page (I will call it a “landing page”) that looks like this: https://ibb.co/H7FwSbk …which contains many different blocks and modules. I did not create this landing page – it just “appears” when you click a category. I would like to control the appearance/layout of this landing page so that 1) it shows ONLY the posts that correspond with that category, in a Block 8 or Block 15 format, and no other content, 2) control the number of posts that appears on that landing page, and 3) with no color gradient in the thumbnail images.
Thank you! I appreciate all the help!
Best regards,
– Steve

I’ve already managed this on my own by manually copying the settings – but if you have an update that fixes this, that would be great as I do need to EXPORT/IMPORT one last time.
Thanks Calin. In the case you decide to not to change the link, at least provide a filter (or another method) to update it ourselves from a child theme (could be useful to add default parameters).
Meanwhile I’ve replaced the code.
Thank you!

Hello !
The white spacing issue seems to be very strange, on mobile emulators works fine everywhere, on mobile devices it shows the white space. Please contact us via email at contact@tagdiv.com and provide admin login, as well as cPanel or FTP if possible. We will take a look. Include a link to this topic in the email.
I’m sorry, here is the CSS to bold out the last updated text:
.last-updated {
font-weight: bold;
}
I hope this was more helpfull !
Thank you !
Hi,
I’ve made some investigation for EXPORT / IMPORT problem and indeed there is a issue, if you want you can send us an email at contact@tagdiv.com and provide admin login, as well as cPanel or FTP if possible. We will take a look and fix this problem. Include a link to this topic in the email.
This problem will be fix in coming updated.
Thank you for your understanding and sorry for the inconvenience!
Hi,
That should work while the modal image is set to off. Please check if the general modal image is active in the theme panel – http://prntscr.com/of74xs
Try disabling it if it is active, then check again. Currently there is an issue with that setting, which will be fixed in the coming theme update. Let me know.
Thanks
Hi,
Normally it depends on the setting in the post edit screen. If the post template is set like this
– http://prntscr.com/of6xy9 it will inherit the general post template setting from the theme panel.
However currently there is an issue in this matter. If a child theme is active the post templates won’t apply correctly. This issue will be fixed in the coming theme update, but for the time being please deactivate the child theme if possible. Sorry for the inconvenience. Let me know if you have more questions.
Thanks
Hi, The problem is still there on mobile – you need to go into the site not homepage and see the top of the page it is a large white space.
The updated date is now hidden on the homepage, thanks. – maybe somebody else here can tell me how to make it bold on the single posts page.
Thanks for your help

You could simply download the full theme package and the plugins will be there, shouldn’t take much time do download and extract the package. The theme plugins have to be updated when the theme is updated, it is required to so.
WPBakery is usually updated only when the theme is updated as well. We don’t recommend to update just WPBakery, this could cause problems

Let me know if you have more questions.
Hi,
I add this request on our feature request list; I think that this feature will quite useful, maybe this will be add in our theme in the coming updates.
Thank you for your suggestion!
Hi,
Starting from the 9.7 theme update there have been changes made to the the file structure. Most of the theme files were moved in the composer plugin, we posted an article at the time here – https://tagdiv.com/updating-the-core-of-tagdiv-themes/
Also we mentioned it in the theme changelog – http://prntscr.com/of41i7
A consequence of moving the theme files in the composer, is that the child theme now has limited use. We will try to provide more capabilities for the child theme however, in coming updates.
Now the file you are looking for is here – https://prnt.sc/nyqald you could modify it there if needed.
Let me know if you have more questions.
Thanks
Hi,
Depends on what the child theme contains. If you have custom CSS in it’s stylesheet you could move it in the theme panel dedicated CSS section. If you have code in it’s functions file, you could move it in the main theme functions for the time being.
In the next theme update the issue with the child theme will be fixed, also we will add more capabilities for it. So you can activate it then if needed.
I tried to translate the footer page with polylang, I created a page in two languages, but I can’t seem to find a way to change the ID of the page when the language is changed. I believe the string must somehow be added first, polylang doesn’t seem to find theme strings as WPML does automatically.
Hi,
Please make sure that you have install/update the theme according to our guide
-> https://tagdiv.com/update-newspaper-theme/
-> https://tagdiv.com/how-to-install-newspaper-theme/
Also if you made any changes in the theme core, please revert to the original files.
Thank you!
