Also, my WPML Top Bar Country Switcher Menu disappears now and then… Don’t understand why nothing is sticking.

Hi, I am trying to design the theme panel for each country. I’m having trouble because the changes do not stick.

Just to be clear, can you confirm the following? Just want to make sure I’m doing everything correctly…
1) I’m using WPML. I am making changes in Theme Panel for each country. The Theme Panel settings are INDEPENDENT for each country correct?
2) String translations in WPML are just for headlines, titles, and labels correct?

Hi,

Please try using the WPML plugin if you want to create another language version of it. Please check here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/newsmag-is-wpml-compatible-using-theme-translations/

Thank you!

Hi,

I have translated the authors bio from italian to english, but they doesn’t shown up.
I already contacted WPML support, but they were unable to locate the code to assist me more.
Here you can find the topic:
https://wpml.org/forums/topic/author-box-description-in-newspaper-theme-doesnt-translate-correctly/

Is there a way to translate the autor’s bio?
You can visit for example this page:
https://www.ranierisdesk.com/yazio-funziona-app-contacalorie-e-non-solo/

Switching from italian to english, the bio remain the same.

Hi,

Does the same happen if you try it with a default WordPress theme? From what I can find there could be some causes for this to happen, mostly at database level. Maybe these topics are helpful for you

If you just want to translate the title of those elements, it can be done. Access the WPML string translation settings – http://prntscr.com/o0hcn0 then locate the footer titles
http://prntscr.com/o0hd0g and add translations to them. They will chnage when the language is changed.

Hi,

It isn’t difficult, depends on what you want to from the above. One way is to use widgets per language. WPML will add an option to them where you can set this.

So for example begin with a empty footer template. In the footer columns add the widgets you want for one language – http://prntscr.com/o0aqay then add others for a different language – http://prntscr.com/o0aqv2
In my example They will appear depending on the language, the first one will appear when the language is English, and the second one when the language is French
http://prntscr.com/o0asxfhttp://prntscr.com/o0atcz

If you have more questions let me know.

Hi Simion,
In that case, it seems that the footer translations isn’t working bc of my WPML plugin.
The links you sent to me seem a bit technical. Is there any way you can go in and help me with this?

Hi,

Some footer templates have predefined content, this content can’t be edited
https://forum.tagdiv.com/footer-templates/
https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/how-to-modify-the-elements-of-a-footer-template/

1. The editor picks is a block sorted by featured, so if there are no posts in the featured category, it will be empty – https://forum.tagdiv.com/featured-posts-2/

2. Seems to work fine – http://prntscr.com/nzxzub Maybe try to clear the cache, and force refresh the page where you are checking in (Ctrl+Shift+R).

3. Works on my end – http://prntscr.com/nzy11t As long as the theme panel saves the setting it should appear in the website.

As a note, if the WPML plugin is active, the theme panel translations will not work
https://forum.tagdiv.com/using-theme-translations-together-wpml/
Some helpful topics here – https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/wpml-footer-and-block-translations/
https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/footer-translate/
You can set widgets to display by language, instead of translating them. You can even set footer pages that will switch when the language is changed
https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/translation-of-footer-pager-does-not-work/

Thanks

>>The posts, pages, templates and theme panel won’t be affected by a theme update.
Good to know!
>>The actual date should translate automatically, when the language of the post is changed.
There was a setting with WPML which had changed but now it’s working fine again.
Thanks, Simion!

If you translated or duplicated the page for example with WPML, then that is expected to happen. The pages will be different, so each can be built in it’s own way and contain different elements and design. The pages will be switched when visitors select different languages.

Simion C.
tagDiv Staff

Hi,

That can be done. When WPML is active there will be an option to translate pages
http://prntscr.com/nvrqqb
So you can create pages in each language, with the tagDiv composer, and they will be switched when needed (when visitors use the language switcher usually).

If you have more questions let me know.
Thanks

I installed WPLM Plugin and integrated a language switcher into my top bar. The desktop version is doing great but on the mobile version the language switcher does not show up. The same happens when I move it into the main menu. The theme should be supported for this plugin. How can the language switcher be visible on a mobile menu?

Hi Vlad,
Well I do have the same issue with my footer as well. I am using the latest version of WPML, Newspaper 9.7.2. My footer is in Albanian language and I have translated everything just fine but when I make the changes to english they do not show on the live website. Please any suggestions how to fix this issue?

Regards,
Cesk

I consistently get this notification “WPML Plugin is active! When the plugin is active, the *.po – *.mo files are used instead of Theme Panel Translation.”. When I dismiss it comes back after reloading the page. It appears to be a message from Newspaper rather than WPML.
Any thoughts on how I could get rid of this message? Thanks!

Hi,
I have installed and configured WPML and I need to translate the pages to English. With td composer I only get the main language and how to translate pages to English same with td composer?

Hi,

I tried using the widget per language settings, seems to work fine. I use the latest theme and WPML version (http://prntscr.com/nudhsj)

Maybe the problem is with the content you enter in the widgets. Try as a test to remove the current widgets and enter a simple block for example, set to appear by language. Check if that works, if it does the problem might be with the code used.

Thanks

We are working on local with tagdiv composer.

Using the category templates from the cloud library can not be individually customized per category for the sides bars therefore, we are using standart post and category templates.(We were individually placing different banners on per category and cloud templates for categories do not allow this)

So, WPML gives an option to display banners on your chosen language. You can select the widget element to display either on first or secondary language.

İn the first image, you can side that 1 side bar contains 2 custom html box containing banners. We were able to display the banner as we like according to the language. However, now this give an error as seen in the image 2. Do we have to double the side bar number to make it work with different language?

Hi,

Please check this similar topic for setting different footer page using WPML plugin -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/translation-of-footer-pager-does-not-work/

Thank you!

Hi Calin,

you described usual translation procedure using WPML and that is ok.
But after that …
In the Theme panel in FOOTER section in FOOTER PAGE dropdown I choose one of those pages and that page is shown in each language … it doesn’t switch as user switches site language.
Every other page works as usual but footer doesn’t.

Using WPML I localized website in 4 languages.
I’ve created 4 different footer pages with different names and url slugs.
In the Theme Panel in Footer section I want to load different page for different language but my website shows only the last page I put in the Footer section.

So, how can I call different page in the footer section for different language?

We have moved our site to local today to develop new designs by using the Newspaper Theme’s Tagdiv composer but no luck.

You can see the issue attached in the image. We disabled all the plugins and whenever we activate WPML Multilingual CMS and classic editor we get the fault.

https://pasteboard.co/IfZxSWA.png

In addition, If we are to import demo site without contents. And try to edit the existings pages(designed with wp bakery) with td compser, we only receive ‘this page is not created with TD composer’ and we can start editing page. but of course this is not we want.

When we try to create a new page from scratch we receive the fault below. We found no possibility to work wpml cms – classical editor and td composer together.

This issue was also existed in the live server. So theres no problem with local.

Thank you
