Hello Truman,
Please keep in mind that until now, we have a lot of bad reports regarding on WPML plugin functionality with our theme and found this plugin is not supported by the theme. Please notice that our theme does not have any problems in this regard, also this type of plugin does not have any problems but when the plugin is used in our theme appear these types of issues (Newspaper+WPML=problems). Please notice that our theme is a very complex one which has a lot of code lines and the possibility to create a conflict with another untested plugin is very high.
As a hint, you can use Q Translate X plugin because most of our customers use it and they are satisfied with its functionality. Also, please notice that nor it is not a tested plugin and we cannot provide support for it and also we cannot say for sure that this will work 100% for you. Also, if you do not want to use this plugin, you have to find other plugins with this functionality and test how it works fine for you because we do not have any recommendation in this regard.
I hope that you understand the case with my explanation.
Thanks.
As I said above, I don´t think it is a wPML related problem. It is more a probleme, why the theme shows an additional sidebar in the german version and not in the english version.
So for me, this looks more like a theme related problem.
Hello Catalin,
thanks for your feedback.
I know, that you are not supporting WPML. But still I wonder, whether the language switching just works fine for the post view and the category view. Even for the english language it works fine on the homepage, which is based on Visual Composer. The only thing, which doesnt´t show up right, is the german version of the homepage.
I just don´t understand, why this should be a problem. For me, this doesn´t look like a WPML related problem.
Even the quick view of the german homepage version just shows up fine.
Regarding the second issue, I just removed the custom css. Now the map is visible (see: https://www.offroaddance.com/kanab-point-arizona-strip-english/), but it is not scaling the height of the map. This was taken care about with the css code, I posted before.
This worked fine in all themes, I used so far. Just with Newspaper, it is not working.
Hello Truman,
Unfortunately, the WPML plugin is not tested with our theme and we cannot say for sure it this type of plugin will working fine with our theme, sorry! Also, please notice that we cannot provide support for untested plugins. For your second request, I am not aware of your Maps and how it should be displayed on your theme, sorry! Please notice that all of these settings involves custom work and we cannot provide customization in this regard, at the moment, sorry! If you want to display more levels in our theme and you are not aware of the steps in this regard, please consider hiring a freelancer/developer to help you. Usually, we recommend the developers from studio.envato.com.
Thanks for your understanding!
Hi,
I just installed your theme and face some problems. I am using WPML to switch between english and german language. I know, you told me, that the theme is not certified for the use with WPML.
Still, I wonder, why the english page (https://www.offroaddance.com) looks fine (besides the thumbnails which I have to regenerate), while the german version (https://www.offroaddance.com/?lang=de) looks completely smashed.
The preview of the german home page looks just fine. German and english version are identical besides, that I gave the german category id´s for the different blocks.
Do you have an idea, what could be the problem or how this can be solved ?
Additionally, I am having some maps on my post pages (i.e. https://www.offroaddance.com/black-rock-mountain-road-arizona-strip-english/). The map should show up below the text “And here is an overview of the area, we visited:”.
The maps are loaded in a div element as iframe and I am using the following custom css code to scale them for the content area width:
.embed-container {
position: relative;
padding-bottom: 56.25%;
height: 0;
overflow: hidden;
width: 100%;
height: auto;
}
.embed-container iframe {
position: absolute;
top: 0;
left: 0;
width: 100%;
height: 100%;
}
Unfortunately, the maps are not showing up, if I use this custom css. If I remove it, the map shows up, but uses the complete width of the content block + sidebar area and doesn´t stay within the content area.
Maybe you are also having an idea about this ?
Thanks in advance for your help.
Thanks for the input.
I’ve read on this forum that wpml had issues with Newspaper though… Do you know anything?
Anybody using wpml or polylang could say anything about them?
Thanks!
Polylang or WPML
Hi
We didn’t tested the theme with WPML plugin and we’re not aware of its functionality in order to provide an answer. There might be a chance to appear some issues when you’re using the plugin with our theme because they weren’t tested to work together.
Unfortunately time does not allow us to provide plugin implementation support so if you really want to use this plugin we suggest you hire a freelancer to help you with implementation. You can hire one from studio.envato.com
Thank you for your understanding.
I just found it your theme panel seems like bugs.
When i click Block Settings, background, etc not response. Is your theme compatible with WPML ?
For menus i already solve this problem, before we change menu we need to sync first with wpml
WPML -> WP Menus Sync
I’m create duplicate my home page from english language to another language, what i found that between english language to another language is different on page composition
on english language post describe as latest articles (this is wrong) but different language how the page serve post is correct.
can we communicate this via PM ? i quite difficult to discribe it.
I just integrated WPML to my wordpress, the main problem i cant adding / Modifiying td-demo-header-menu
so my menu totaly blank.
How to solve this problem / can you check it to my web ?
Hi,
I checked it and i think the issue it at the contact form side. There are more people talking about it also. Do you have any advice, because changing strings etc. is a little too difficult for me at this stage.

Thanks
Hi
thanks again for your reply, and, don’t worry, I don’t get you wrong.
what I’m trying to say with my poor English is not that I need support for WPML or Types, but that the latest Newspaper release includes a buggy version of Visual Composer plugin (because, I repeat, it’s NOT a Newspaper bug what we’re talking about).
In the past months, in a very short time you’ve updated Newspaper many times: I would have expected a further update also for a new version of Visual Composer, because VC is a key part of your excellent theme, and the current version generates problems that I’ve never had before.
However, I understand that you’ve to test external plugins: I sincerely hope that the test would end quickly, because it’s really difficult to develop and maintain my sites under these conditions.
Thanks and best regards, Luca
Hi
thanks for your reply.
I’m a bit surprised you have no idea about WPML, it is one of the most popular wordpress plugins for multilingual support, but it’s not the point.
I’m not asking for support about WPML: although not officially supported, it works quite well with Newspaper, I developed several multilingual sites using Newspaper and WPML, and in any case the compatibility issue is NOT between WPML and Newspaper, but between WPML (and many other plugins) and 4.9.2 version of Visual Composer.
I believe that also Visual Composer producer, WPBakery, has noticed that 4.9.2 release has some issues, and in fact the current version of Visual Composer is 4.11.
But I can’t update the plugin because I’ve purchased as part of Newspaper, that’s all.
Thanks again, Luca
Hello lpecchi,
Unfortunately, the WPML plugin is not a tested plugin and it is not found through our list of tested plugins as you can see here -> http://screencast.com/t/MvYoE9pBqaUN We have no idea about the functionality of this plugin and about the impact over the behaviour of the theme and we cannot provide support for this types of plugin, sorry!
Unfortunately, we cannot say for sure when will be the next theme update and the next update for the Visual Composer sorry! Our developers work hard and only they can decide the exact date when the update will be released.
Please notice that on every theme/plugin update you will be announced through mail.
Thank you for your understanding!
Hi
any news about Newspaper new release or about visual composer update?
it’s not directly connected with your theme, ok, but bugs and compatibility issues related to Visual Composer 4.9.2 (we’ve just found another one, this time with WPML plugin) are becoming really annoying: it is hard to develop sites in these conditions, having to disable and re-enable plugins to do tasks that before the last update worked perfectly.
thanks again, Luca
Hello,
Our theme has no options for this unfortunately so you will have to make use of a plugin. However, wpml has created problems with our theme in the past and we made some tests with qtranslate x (not official though). Try it out with qtranslate x or another translation plugin.
Thank you!
Hi,
Unfortunately WPML is not tested with our theme and we have no idea of it’s functionality. I cannot provide an answer as to why it searches the root folder and not the translation folder. I think the plugin author will be the one who could answer this question.
Thank you!
Hello, Thanks for the .mo and .po files. What I don’t get is the location of the files, as WPML is looking for them in the site/wp-content/themes/Newspaper folder and not in site/wp-content/themes/Newspaper/translation, where all the other .mo and .po files are.
The site (offline) uses WPML plugin for multilingual content (English is the original language, site also needs to be in Italian). On the Newspaper theme translations page, there is a full list of Italian translations, but there is no theme specific MO file for Italian.
On the WPML plugin page for Theme and plugins localization, in Language locale settings, there should (apparently) be two it_IT files but in fact only one is found:
MO file in site/wp-content/languages – OK
MO file in site/wp-content/themes/Newspaper – not found
Is this MO file available for download from tagdiv?
If not, how should I proceed?
Hello Catalin,
thanks for your answers. Probably we have to by WPML, it seems the standard and best usable plugin for multilanguage, like your theme is the best for news portals.
The events calendar seems working fine, thanks for your tip!
best regards,
Tibor
Hi,
which FREE multilanguage plugin do you recommend to use with Newspaper: Polylang or WPGlobus?
(please don’t answer WPML 🙂
Is there an Event Calendar plugin preferred by you?
thanks
Tibor from Hungary
Hello Manfred,
Unfortunately none of these plugins are actually tested. We ran a few tests with qtranslate-x but they were not official and not in depth. You will have to try them out with a bit of trial and error. Maybe WPML got updated in the meantime. We cannot make any recommendations based on just a few quick tests. Unfortunately we cannot offer support for plugin implementation.
Thank you for your understanding.
Hi guys, currently I´m testing qTranlate-X (on your recommendation) and it works well. Only one issue: The translation for subtitle (posts) is not working correctly. If I translate for example to german language, it will change, but on all other languages as well. Can you recommend a solution? Thanks for reply, Manfred
PS. Is WPML actual working without issues?
