Unfortunately the plugin you are using is not tested with the theme and it could be conflicting since the new version of WP. We usually recommend ‘qtranslate x’ as we ran a few tests with it and it seamed to work properly. You can try to disable all plugins except visual composer and wpml and see if another plugin is the cause of the issue. As Chris suggested above, we usually want to rule out a few things before we request wp-admin as most of the issues can be solved by removing certain plugins and modifications that interfere with the theme functionality. Even when we request wp-admin the first thing we do is disable all plugins except visual composer and go from there with our tests. At the moment we do not have any reports of such issues with our theme since wp 4.4 The only errors we found were related to category pages and pagination/infinite loading. These were fixed ion the current version though.

Do you use WPML bilingual?
I’ve updated the theme, I can’t disable WPML as Chinese is a core functionality of this site, which has hundreds of pages.
All the posts in English display as video posts, all the posts in Chinese display as images only. httv.us is the domain.
Even when I create a new video post in Chinese, it will not work. Nor when I create a new post in English then translate to Chinese. Nothing else has changed in the background except WordPress updating automatically, and me updating newspaper to the latest version. I don’t have automatic plugin updates, etc…

Unfortunately we do not own a version of WPML and we did not do any test with it yet, we did a few tests with qTranslate-x though. (that is why i suggested it).
Unfortunately i cannot say exactly if WPML works 100% with our theme so i cannot provide a precise answer.

I am interested mainly for the translation of the theme’s core (blocks,date, widgets, menus, etc.) I have managed to do some of the things withe the polylang plugin but still cannot have the Menus in different languages. Could this be solved with the WPML plugin?
Is the WPML plugin supported?
In the advertising page of the Newspaper theme it is implied that multi-language translations are possible and that was the reason I purchased the theme.
Unfortunately this not true. The theme’s Blocks and Menus cannot be translated through the “Theme Panel”.

Note that we didn’t test the theme with WPML so is possible to appear some issues with it.

1) I’m having troubles in translating the input value of the search form in the main menu (now is in English but the website in translated in 6 languages, so I have to fix it). I’m using WPML but in the String translation I translated it, but it doesn’t work…
2) In the mobile version of the theme, I’m not able to show the top menu (I have login/logout, social networks and language selection in it), how could I fix it?

Hi,
Unfortunately the theme was not tested with this plugin and the plugin was not adapted to work with the theme, so I cannot provide a solution for this. As far as I know you need some custom modifications to translate it using WPML and I suggest to contact the plugin author maybe they can provide a solution.

I would like to change the titel name of news ticker. From “TRENDING NOW” to “Europe’s leading website” in English version and in Polish from “Na topie” to “Europejski Portal”. I am using WPML plugin.
I can translate Trending Now from Theme Panel > Translations but it works only in one launguage.

We’re sorry for the inconvenience and all the trouble unfortunately because the recent update has been redesigned so because theme’s grid has been changed and with it the whole css, there were lots of new elements and we had to take this decision. Sorry for this.
The wpml plugin wasn’t tested with the theme and the theme doesn’t have any built in support for it so using it unfortunately could need additional customization, anyways I’m glad to hear you’ve managed to solve them.
Looking at your site I’ve noticed some shortcodes not being recognized by VC and this could happen if the importing script hasn’t worked fine: http://screencast.com/t/03OoauPYWGP and the shortcodes that now appear there are different from the ones used now: http://screencast.com/t/hK74HaET If the script isn’t working you could have to recreate the page and remove the old shortcodes and use the new ones.
I can see that on category pages the grid and posts display well: http://screencast.com/t/pmjvr8Qy3EG so you can use build the pages that don’t work again and check the result.

All the rest is really very frustrating,
You discontinue updates on a version I bought due to particular features you had and release a newer version that no longer offers the same set of features??
- I followed the steps on that guide you linked too in the first place (removal of the old version + older VC plugin, installation of the newer version & plugins + the update script which led me to this point
- The previous version had some problem with Multilanguage but eventually I found I could rectify any small issue using WPML (which also cost extra) – but made everything work perfectly.
- Old RTL support needed some work on the CSS side – but I also had that fixed rather easily but that’s about it.
- I haven’t done any other unique changes to the old theme 🙁
I can also see the post and the categories in the admin so – the data was not effected it seems like the modules don’t handle the structure in the same way and the fact you say it was rewritten suggests that may be the cause and you may be able to solve this.
Since I don’t have the skills to fix this myself which was the whole point of buying a theme that supported what I needed to begin with – please help me understand if this is something you think you can resolve or I should start looking for another theme?

Unfortunately we did not tested this plugin with the theme, I suggested to try this without any other plugins active only with Visual Composer and WPML(sorry that I haven’t specified it), maybe it is in a conflict with another plugin. You can check this also on a default theme and see if works and also address to plugin support.
You may need additional customization to work fine with the theme and unfortunately we cannot provide any type of custom work at this time, sorry!

is a descendant of qTranslate, which has apparently been abandoned by the original author, Qian Qin.
Unfortunately we aren’t considering switching to wpml plugin and we will add a new translation system built in the theme, based on .po .mo files which will come with theme already translated in several common languages (via theme panel, .po .mo are also provided). All this will be available from theme version no 5 and this changes should also make the theme work with other translation plugins.

It is very unfortunate that there is no desire on your part to find a solution to this since WPML is so widespread. I truly wish your attitude about the problem was different.
I believe by looking at all issues that if your Theme had no “Translations” options built-in (which are truly not helpful at all), that almost all Translation plugins would work with it, including WPML. You have tried to reach too much…into areas that you were unwilling to develop properly, and give the appearance that all the options were worth more $$…but in the end, your theme actually loses value. And when support questions come in, the answers are very dismissive and no willingness is shown to truly abate the issue.
Well, I truly wish I could use yor theme…I will try to see a bit longer if solution can be found…without your help.

We really do not own a version of WPML and we didn’t do any test with it yet, the theme was tested with qTranslate.

You may try to replace it in the theme with the one used by WPML, unfortunately i cannot say exactly what WPML uses so i cannot provide a precise solution to this, you can also try to ask about it on their forum.
If you can’t find a solution to this i can offer a refund.

For the moment we don’t plan to integrate wpml 100%, because of this we can’t integrate only a small modification like the one presented on your second comment. I don’t own a version of wpml so i cannot say what that function may do. To integrate something like that in the theme we need to add an extra condition so that it applies only when wpml is installed and active, this way it won’t affect the usability for users which are not using wpml.

Now, I would find it really hard to believe that you do not know how to configure your Theme to work 100% with WPML in this day and age (April 2015), or that you do not own WPML and have not tested it with it.
Your Theme offers a basic “Translation” help in Theme Panel. — So, when WPML picks up String Lines across the website, you can translate them in the backend, but these translations then don’t show in the front-end. Still, WPML picks them up, so it means WPML is doing its job…but your Theme is blocking front-end display of translations and overriding them with your Theme Control “Translation” help, which is empty. (This means this information you provided is false: http://screencast.com/t/928QuPRfAO )
To test this, I used your Theme Control “Translation” help, and these translations DO show in the front end…but they are permanent, no way to turn back to English. This means somehow, your code is forcing the theme to only show what is inputted in your Theme Control “Translations” page.
At this time… Can you please tell me what configurations I must make to disable all of your Translation help and remove it from code? Where can I find all the code and what should I delete without damaging Theme? I truly believe this will make WPML work with your Newspaper Theme.
