Please disable all plugins leave just Visual Composer active, clear cache and purge your files if you use CDN, also please disable all css/js minification and check again if you still have this issue. Not sure why you have this issue. I also checked this with latest theme version and did not found any issues. Please check this without any plugins active, leave only Visual Composer active, clear cache and check again. Also make sure that you don’t use any special characters on the sidebar’s name as we have some reports about this, when a block is added in a custom sidebar disappears.

Also you can check this without any plugins active except of Visual Composer and clear cache.
You can activate the theme also on your test site and when you change to your main website you can use the same code. Envato specifies that each theme can be used for one product (site): http://themeforest.net/licenses/standard but you can use on multiple test sites. If you want to use it on multiple sites/domains you’d have to buy a license for each project.

From version 1.8 of Newsmag also new documentation will be available and you will be able to create a new header style. Unfortunately the theme doesn’t have an option to display a different header on pages and you will need cusotm work.

You can update the theme like it is specified in our documentation, unfortunately Visual Composer can be updated only manually as the plugin comes with the theme’s files and you can’t update it directly from the it’s producer.

If you use a smaller image, please note that WordPress doesn’t enlarge images and you will need to use plugin like Thumbnail Upscale to enlarge thumbnails: https://wordpress.org/plugins/thumbnail-upscale/ For upscale use a combination of plugins Thumbnail Upscale + Force Regenerate.
