You cant add anything, the plugin say it doesnt detect any video. They are incompatible (Yoast SEO Video and Newspaper theme using featured video).

The sticky sidebar is against Google Adsense TOS? Thats new for me. I thought the “floating box” was talking about that intrusive ads that pop up in the middle of the screen, never thought about the sticky bar.

BTW, maybe the installation of the theme went wrong or something, I’ve installed this and Newsmag without a problem. Good luck.

The first thing should be to able the gzip compression on the server side. 🙂

I’m also interested in this.

I want to use the video format due to the “play” icon outside the article (visible on homepage and categories), but at the same time display the featured image inside the video post and embed the code manually where I want. It would be really useful if we can set the video format and if not video is set in the right menu, the theme displays the featured image we uploaded.

Is that possible?

The Yoast Video Plugin is a premium addon to create video sitemaps with the Yoast plugin, but If I use a featured video in the theme, the plugin tells me there isnt any video in the post.

Its kind of useles to have featured videos and the video theme if the dont work for a sitemap. 🙁

Great tip. You can creat an aditional sidebar and use it on this posts to secure no more ads on certain articles.

By the way, is there a way to prevent ads appearing on the BBpress plugin? Google is picky with that kind of content.

The schema info is still there.

The problem is the theme makes some kind of check to input the schema info:

-If you select Review, then is a review post.
-If it isnt a Review, its always an article, no matter what. So the using of third party plugins for reviews, recipes or just any other kind of article is useless.

I cant use any review plugin cos the way the theme renders the schema info.

* If I dont use your review option, it renders the article schema, even if I use any other review plugin.
* If I select your review option but dont put any data, it renders the article schema, , even if I use any other review plugin.
* If I select and use your review option… well, that just doest make any sense, cos for that I want to use another plugin.

The theme forces the schema info, and I cant seem to move it.

It would really help me if at least the theme doenst render any schema info in one template, so i can use that template for reviews. Is there any way to do so? Not to render your schema code in just one of the post templates?

BTW. You should really improve the review option of Newspaper. Its the only thing that hasnt change since V4.

I also have a similar problem, general background color reverted and its seems I cant change it anymore no matter what.

Does W3 Total Cache works fine with the theme?

Or maybe a way to force a template (in my case single loop 8) to output review schema always. 🙂

Ah, come on , Chris it was just my “bent sense of humour, bordering on sarcasm”.

As I said in my first post, the updates file should be specific enough: if no changes are made to core files, that info must be there listed. If some files were changed, the list of them must be included.

Not anyone knows when something was forgotten and when there arent any changes. The update info should be specific enough for anyone that buys the theme.

And when someone asks for help, they need help in a good way, Chris, like most of your posts in this forum. Not sarcams that very often is missundertood with mockery. 🙂

And the same goes for 6.6.2. There is no updated files document. So in Chris logic, the new update doesnt update any file. :v

As I said, its not specific enough.

The documentation has two parts, the update log and the changed files. If there are no files changed in the theme, that information should be visible; not everyone has ages of experience updating this theme so this kind of help file is more handy for them than your sarcasm or the “look for stuff” answer.

If some says “I can’t find the usual List of Modified files for the update 6.6.1 that just went live…” it’s because he already looked for the file and wasnt sure about the changes.

No, they arent specific enough. The document only list files changed between 6.5 and 6.6.1, not between 6.6 and 6.1.

Anyways, I guess its just the social plugin but the the documentation should be more specific.

You have to play, know and move the blocks and modules. Its quite possible to make a frontpage like The Verge with this theme. I grabbed a couple of ideas from that site.
