Thanks! That worked perfectly!

Also, that code you gave me didn’t reduce the font size on any posts that don’t have videos. So for some reason the page settings (as opposed to the post settings) in fonts was being affected by it…

Thanks, Bogdan. The theme wouldn’t accept that CSS. It told me to delete the “cite” and the “p”. But when I did that it didn’t change the font size within the video playlist; all it did was reduce the font size in the copy above the playlist (the actual intro post copy). To correct it I had to delete the code and then go into Fonts -> Page content and change it back.

Any other suggestion for reducing the size of the titles within the video playlist?

When I called my host (Inmotion Hosting), they said that they could just switch my site from http to https without doing any 301 redirects. Is that true? From what you said above it sounds a lot more complicated…

Chris, first of all thanks for all the comments you put on the forum. I read yours all the time and they’re truly useful. Second, I saw that you use MailChimp popup forms. Do you use any other popup (like Optin Monster) for email lead capture on your Newspaper site? I see that Mailchimp has a very basic popup form that I’m not totally satisfied with visually. Until now I’ve been using the paid SumoMe popup, but it seems to be slowing down the site a lot and opening it up to hacking attempts more…

Best,
Travis Ward

Re: #1 — No I want to delete the fuzzy gray line between the navbar and the body content.

See http://www.patchofearth.com

It automatically comes with the theme

What happens on mobile to the Mega Menu? I’d love to have MegaMenu on desktop view but not on mobile. Is that possible?

I have been running my website with the theme, not a child theme. I have only made CSS changes within the custom CSS pane in the Theme Panel. Do you recommend that I create a child theme instead? I figured that since I’m not customizing the CSS beyond this, that there wouldn’t be any need. Please advise. Thanks!

That would be very useful to have a list of all the default settings!

Congratulations! Tagdiv has done a wonderful job developing it and the support is great!

I have a related question:

I set up the permalink manually on a post as this:
http://www.patchofearth.com/food/pasta/authentic-italian-lasagna-recipe-ground-turkey-ragu-bechamel-sauce

I assigned it multiple categories because I want it to show up on all of those category pages. The highest level category is Food.

This is the permalink that shows up when you click on the post:

http://www.patchofearth.com/food/authentic-italian-lasagna-recipe-ground-turkey-ragu-bechamel-sauce/

Why isn’t is showing the URL I specified manually? Is the problem that the manual permalink gets overriden if there’s a higher level category checked?

Thanks! That’s what I figured but you never know… 🙂

How much does SumoMe affect things like page requests and render blocking? I have it installed and just ran a Website Grader test. The site got a really high grade except for these two things and the lack of an SSL certificate.

Bogdan, you said for the home page to add a text box and set the title to H1. I’m using custom headers set to H1. I’m assuming this will achieve the same thing. Am I right?

I love this theme!

travisnw

Are post and page titles automatically assigned the H1 tag by the Newspaper theme?

Can you please start testing quiz plugins so you can recommend one? I’ve been trying to use a quiz plugin that’s glitchy and it seems that maybe the Newspaper theme is having a problem with it. It would be GREAT to know of a plugin that will definitely work.

So I got the Instagram post to show up in my post just by pasting the URL into a text block. I guess that the HTML embed interferes with VC…

travisnw

I’m having this exact problem when I embed Instagram code into a page in VC — i.e. the VC rows not showing up after the first one. Has anyone here been successful at embedding Instagram codes and not having this problem with VC occur?

travisnw

Another update: This problem is not occurring if I create a new post and add text blocks. It seems to be the Instagram code messing with it. I tried posting it in as raw Javascript and the same problem happened. Anyone else had this problem with Instagram and VC?

Update: More specifically:

I’ve created a template in VC that includes raw HTML blocks. I’m pasting in ebmbed code from Instagram. It seems to work fine until I hit “save draft.” At that point it stops showing everything I’ve done in VC. It still shows up in Classic Mode. Could it be that the Instagram HTML is somehow messing with VC?

Ignore the previous post! I got this to work by making the URL http:// instead of https://

Now it’s generating the featured image from it.

Here’s what the headers look like now:

Here’s what my Theme settings look like where you described it:

Does that help?

Thanks! I got around this by inserting individual photos into columns and linking each one.

Thanks, Steven, but I can’t because it’s under construction.

Nice site! Do you know how to reduce the white space around the items in Block 9? It’s the block that lets you just put headlines of posts, no photos. Also, there’s a faint dotted line that I want to turn into a solid gray line. Any ideas?
