The logo file is 3000+ px wide and displaying at 170px – 98% saving there.
There are about a doze other images with the same issue.
Get a trial copy of photoshop.
Save for web (legacy) and scale to correct size and usually about 60/100 setting.
Download Enable Media Replace plugin and swap out all the problem images with the new versions.
Site will be much faster (700kb smaller page)
Add the additional adsense code in header.php file as per Google guidelines.
Place this ad code in the <head> tag (or at the top of the <body>) of the pages where you want to show the ads. It’s the same ad code for every page and site, and you won’t need to change it even if you adjust your Page-level ads settings.
What SEO plugin do you use? You just need to “noindex” archive sub pages.
I use AdRotate plugin and it does that. You can also weight some ads more than others.
You didn’t hit a brick wall, you just chose not to accept Chris’ advice. It was all you needed to know to move forward.
Google will give you plenty of warning about when it will become a signal, just like with mobile friendly.
Yes, you should be planning ahead. But keep in mind you will be planning for an event that could be still 6 months away.
I read this blog article from Yoast this morning and thought of this post from a month ago.
Some misinformation in this thread about Google ranking because of AMP.
AMP is not a ranking signal yet. If your competitor is outranking you it’s for other reasons.
ecase, your traffic loss isn’t being caused by the theme. It’s being caused by whatever you are doing in your social channels and offline marketing. Your traffic from search only accounts for 22% of your traffic.
You are comparing your traffic to December, but that was an abnormal month for you at nearly double previous months.
You should compare your December analytics data to October, that will tell you what your problems are.
I have Yoast Premium and the suggest internal linking feature works fine on my site.
Any answer on this TagDiv? This has been requested for over two years now.
Are you using a responsive only ad, rather than a specified size?
I can’t comment directly with the plugin you’re using but with adrotate I would put the shortcode in the header spot and then use the themes device size settings to set the container width.
I only used the mobile theme for a week though and swapped back to the desktop version.
Use this script https://interconnectit.com/products/search-and-replace-for-wordpress-databases/
This is about the best article I have seen explaining what to do changing to SSL https://www.keycdn.com/blog/http-to-https/
You can use Adrotate plugin to achieve what you want.
You will need to create a category where you don’t want ads to show, then just de-select that category from all the groups you set up.
The result will be no ads anywhere on that page or post.
Just on the AdRotate plugin suggestion, it won’t allow you to do that either. You would also have to have a different sidebar for each post.
There are more advanced plugins that will do it but it will turn into a management nightmare once you start getting 200-300 posts or more. I have a different sidebar for each category and even that takes a bit of time to manage changing ads.
Waste of time for Amazon anyway, their native ad system is smart enough to work out what you’re selling or writing about 90% of the time.

Slider Revolution and pretty much any slider will be slower than an equivalent hero image or the TagDiv type big image post grid.
And, they have lower click through rate. That’s why you don’t see them used a lot on news sites. Sliders are actually more popular being used to sell themes than actually being used in real situations.
You can probably tell I don’t like them, on news sites or the business sites I work with.
The biggest problem with your site speed is the hosting platform, you’re on a server with 2,000 other sites and best test out of four was a server response time of 2 seconds. The other three times the server timed out.
I would be sorting that first before anything else.
You don’t need a license, it’s bundled with the theme. Just dismiss any message you have and activate it via the Newspaper plugins panel. Menu item under dashboard in wordpress.
If you use Facebook comments, or DisQus it will just replace the existing comments section, no need to turn them off (WordPress > Settings > Discussion).
I wouldn’t switch to Facebook comments though, you will find it reduces the number of people who will comment. Use Disqus if you replace the wordpress comments.
I did the update via ftp and there were no issues whatsoever, a quick look at those comments (they are open btw) and I would imagine they are on very poor hosting plans that are timing out or can’t handle the file size. There are no missing files.
It’s not an issue with the theme, I changed my site over to SSL during the week and it all works fine. Did you do a search and replace of all the old http to the new https?
Follow the steps in this guide, it’s one of the best I have seen https://www.keycdn.com/blog/http-to-https/
Make sure you have cleared all web, CDN and browser caches as well.
No you won’t lose any of the user selected options from dashboard or theme panels (incl your Analytics code). You would only lose things like if you had manually edited a header.php file or functions.php file or similar.
