I sent an email yesterday and hope to hear from you soon. Thank you~

Yes I tried that multiple times. And your steps are the same as what I have been trying. Nothing displays when I add [ccpw id=”828″] and save. Very odd.

Hello: I have already activated the theme 9 months ago on both websites. So all is fine for the websites.

But I only registered 1 user/license on this tagdiv forum. I now want to register my developer on the forum with the other license. But when we try to do that, tagdiv says the 2nd license is already activated on the tagdiv forum. I think my previous developer used the 2nd license before to get on the forum… so how do I cancel that user and give the license to my new developer so he can participate in this forum?

Thank you for your help. Even on my big monitor I failed to see that in Chrome or Safari, but when i reduced the screensize (command -) I could see the X to close it. But it fails to do anything.

I guess I should be more specific. I am trying to add the shortcode for the Cryptocurrency Widget like this:
https://www.screencast.com/t/VCdsy32fPK

When I add the shortcode and close it, nothing changes on the green box… no widget is shown. Any idea why?

Thank you for your help! Is there a way I can send you the link privately?

I love the Newspaper theme, but there are fundamental tenets of coding. One of those tenets is clear changelog:
https://wordpress.org/news/2009/07/improving-your-plugin-changelogs/

Keeping track of deprecated functions is a very very big thing. I’ve been part of the WP community for more than 13 years (I have a very old username on wordpress.org) and I have built and funded dozens of plugins over the years. It’s very very very imprtant for Newspaper, which is a very very popular plugin, to have accurate data given to consumers. Please let me know fi I can assist you — I want to see you guys do great!

paperweight

Ahhhh, this is frustrating. Not only does this appear to blow out child themes, it also is not following best practices in keeping track of deprecated functions…

@ncalex
the wording on your response is unclear. Do you suggest FTP is better than using Envato plugin?

I see on https://themeforest.net/item/newspaper/5489609 that there are 2 additions:

new: Introducing the Header Builder. Now you have the power to create completely different headers for various pages, sticky headers on desktop and mobile, but also special headers for small screen devices.
new: The Header Manager. This feature allows you to have a different header on templates (think of it as your Headers Assign System :p)

Perhaps this is related to the errors we see?

paperweight

I also just updated 9.2.2 to 9.5.0 and have the exact same error:
Uncaught Error: Call to undefined method td_api_header_style::_helper_show_header()

Right, keeping track of deprecations is a *must* šŸ™‚

Hello:
Yes, I am using the latest theme version and I meet or exceed all requirements.

But I am using a new version of PHP. I’m using PHP 7.2.14.

I found my site and service running much better and faster when I moved from 7.1 to 7.2 a few months ago. Any plans to support 7.2 soon?

Thank you!

Thanks for your advice. I would much rather rely on a child theme. I instead just used my current child theme file td_category_template_8.php and added a lot of conditional code to display content on specific category pages.

paperweight
tagDiv Member

I see the API info here:
https://forum.tagdiv.com/api-category-top-section-style-introduction/

But I’m unsure how to register my new file. Does it go in functions.php?

paperweight

My Default Template always displays the headline for the Page…. so both ‘Pagebuilder + page title” and the “Default template” display the headline/title for the Page. Is this supposed to happen?

paperweight
tagDiv Member

I solved this with If Menu plugin:
https://wordpress.org/plugins/if-menu/

I make some menu items only display on Mobile device.

But it would be easier if I could just have a Desktop menu and a Mobile menu and then select those in the Newspaper settings. I have had other themes that do this šŸ˜‰

paperweight
tagDiv Member

Ah, I solved the problem. There was a conflict problem. I deactivated the “Core Extend” plugin for the previous theme that was on this site and all worked for Newspaper now. šŸ™‚

paperweight
tagDiv Member

Sorry for my delay. Do you mean deactivate all my plugins? Or a particular one? I hope only a particular one, since this is a high trafficked website that will go down if plugins are all disabled. I have this working fine on one my licensed Newspaper sites, but the other has Template Settings missing.

paperweight

Is there a way to hide a response if I send you the direct URL? I don’t my site name or details to be sown on the forum.

paperweight

Yes it’s odd I am missing that selection. Any idea why? See this:

Ah, any way I can do it with WPbakery and not use the cloud template?

Sorry, I found the answer here:
https://forum.tagdiv.com/unique-articles/

I think Unique Articles will work and I will test it later… but how exactly does it work? For example does it work from the top to bottom of the page? If a post is at top it doesn’t place it in a block below?

If I want to have a block at the bottom with a specific cat=4 and the latest post, will it also display cat=4 latest post above? What overrides what?

paperweight

Yes, I actually have the theme installed on 2 different websites (I own 2 licenses). Both of them were added with FTP, and yesterday I also copied the theme over again via FTP to make sure.

Site is loading fine, but the errors are appearing in my log file. That Line 6 is related to the header(), so any idea what it could relate to?

paperweight
tagDiv Member

No problem, I solved it. I used the default them for the plugin (plugin has a few choices in its admin area) and their default layout and theme works well with Newspaper and doesn;t show an error šŸ™‚

paperweight
tagDiv Member

Right, I think you misunderstand me. I’m saying AMP is good. But AMP is the only reason to have a ā€œmobile websiteā€. There is no need for Newspaper to have a separate mobile theme because it is a responsive theme. Because it’s responsive, it works on mobile sites. So I’m suggesting instead to just add a conditional statement to show an alternative menu on smaller devices šŸ™‚
