Please notice that our theme uses thumbs and all the images will be cut from center to top, according to what type of thumbs are used by your modules/blocks. You should use big size for images because the theme only cut them and not enlarge them and if you are using an image which has a small size than the thumb you will see these problems. If you want to have only a top image and the rest just titles, you can simply do that with css, no custom coding required. You can simply use one of the theme blocks that has this sort of functionality but with different images like block 1 on 2 columns for example:

You can hide the small thumbs with this code:

You can even target paricular blopcks so you will not affect all blocks 1 at the same time by adding a custom css class on the row in visual composer.

Unfortunately you cannot separate each post by category. Our theme has no such option. You can filter specific posts in a block from the filter settings or specific categories but you cannot make the block pull each post in particular from a particular category,. There is no such depth added to the post filters. Sorry.

1)I guess that you have some problems with theme saving. First of all, please ensure that you are using the latest version of the theme (Newsmag 3.2) and also, the latest version of required plugins that come bundled with the theme, clear all your cache and rule out any conflicts. I;pm not sure what customization you made and how you implement the images but this is not a standard implementation of a featured image. You use post template 1 but there is no featured image shown on the post itself. I just see an iframe. There is no code for the featured image as well in the browser inspector. The blocks need the featured images to be contained in this css class:
td-post-featured-image
There is no such class on any of your posts including the ones that are showing the featured image on your homepage. I;m not sure how you use the theme api to add a featured image but you need to add it by the standard method of pressing the ‘set featured image’ button and selecting a file from your media library.
We cannot guarantee our blocks will work with custom implementation of featured images.

The theme will add a thumbnail of 1068 x 580 pixels. if you do not want this thumb to be available, simply turn off the thumbnail from the theme pane-> block setting sand regenerate thumbs after: http://screencast.com/t/g8AJyhbyW
