And what are these social icons? are they the ones from our theme? are they other plugins? We do not get these errors on our end so we cannot recreate this issue and thus, we cannot know where they come from. Please disable all plugins except visual composer, clear cache and reset cdn if you use it. Then test again and see if you still get 404 errors.
Thank you!
actually I did not speak of downtowns, but I just wanted to add a cache plugin
Hello,
Unfortunately at the moment the mobile theme will not work with shortcodes. The responsive version will work properly. Just disable the mobile theme and clear all caches and the form will show up. The mobile theme will get updates in the future which will allow certain shortcodes to be used but for the moment you will have to either not use shortcodes on mobile or disable the mobile theme.
Thank you!
Hello OverPress,
I have checked your source page and I have noticed that you are using the child theme, as you can see here -> http://screencast.com/t/iUfmfcZUnbN6 First of all, please try to switch the theme to the main theme, clear all your caches, purge CDN files if you are using the CDN system, clear server cache (if you do not have any access to this process you will have to request it to your hosting provider). Also, if you want to use the Child theme, please notice that you will have to use the latest version of it which come bundled with the theme. Please try to do all of these steps and then try to check again and see the results.
Hope this helps and let us know how it goes!
Thanks for your understanding!
Try purging the cache and hit ctrl-f5 on your browser.
I think the CSS is getting cached, and it is old.

Hey! I think that did the trick. I purged the cache and hit ctrl-f5 and the website is now displaying properly. Thank you for your help, GideonLupine 🙂
Actually, I went into my theme and changed some settings there, then cleared my cache and it when back to normal. It was weird. Sorry to bother.
We are on wpengine.com.
We had to purge cache, and ctrl-f5 the browser after.
Hi,
I am having a problem with mobile theme. Features images are not showing for some of the posts and are displayed normally for other posts.
Thry are all visible on desktop and on mobile if I disable mobile theme.
Can’t find any reason for that. I have tried clearing cache and adding a different image but does not help.
Is there something I am missing?
Thanks.
Mihael
Hello dreammy,
Please ensure that you are using the latest version of the theme (Newspaper 7.2 with Social Counter 4.1 and Visual Composer 4.12) in order to achieve best results. Also, if you are using some untested plugins, please try to disable all of these, clear all your caches and install only the plugins that come bundled with our theme and rule out the conflicting plugins. Also, please check our demo tutorial here -> http://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/ to see that our theme working properly.
Thanks for your understanding!
Hello,
It could be some custom css you had in place for your header or a plugin conflict so please remove any custom code you may have in place and disable all plugins except visual composer, clear cache and reset cdn files.
Let us know if you still have trouble with the header.
Thank you!
Hi,
You have a custom css in place that does not come from the theme. Please disable all plugins except visual composer, clear cache and reset cdn files. Also if you have any custom modifications in place, please revert the theme to it;s default code.
Thank you!
Hello,
Please disable all plugins except visual composer, clear cache and reset cdn files. Then delete the current social counter from the plugins section (delete files) and then install it again from here: http://screencast.com/t/HeuWIAsEtn
As for the mobile theme, please read this guide https://forum.tagdiv.com/the-mobile-theme/
If you do not like the mobile theme layout, you can always disable it as it’s an optional plugin. you will still have a responsive version of the website that works properly on all devices.
Thank you!
Hello,
Please clear your cache and then replace w3 total cache. The recommended caching plugin to use with our theme is wp super cache and these settings: https://forum.tagdiv.com/cache-plugin-install-and-configure/
Let us know if you still have the issue afterwards.
Thank you!
Hello,
Any one of those plugins can cause issues as you use quite a number of untested plugins and in most cases plugins conflict even with each-other. Not only conflict with the theme. Here is a list of tested plugins to use: http://screencast.com/t/LGEVqrzf4GaQ and maybe this guide will help also: https://forum.tagdiv.com/cache-plugin-install-and-configure/
Please try to disable any untested plugins and try to set up wp super cache according to the guide and then test your site again and see if you have any more downtime. You can also check your system status: https://forum.tagdiv.com/system-status-parameters-guide/
Thank you!
Hello,
This usually happens due to caching issues whether its’s an unsupported caching plugin (w3 total cache or wp rocket) or certain settings in the hosting cache or the cdn server. We suggest testing this without cdn or other cache and only with the recommended plugin: https://forum.tagdiv.com/cache-plugin-install-and-configure/
Thank you!
Hello
@webpsykologene, I have checked your website and I saw that you do not update your Visual Composer, as you ca see here -> http://screencast.com/t/PtoDeOb5J01 The latest version of this plugin is 4.12 and it comes bundled with our theme, with the latest packet which could be downloaded from Theme Forest, using your account. Please try to update your Visual Composer to the latest version of it, clear all your caches and then check the results.
@slashedbeauty, please ensure that you are using the latest version of Visual Composer.
Thanks for your understanding!
Hello powerchoice,
Please notice that this type of behaviour appears only for Firefox browser. We know about this problem and we cannot do anything in this regard because the Firefox is our of dated and this should upgrade the browser version to work well. Please try the theme to another browser like -> Chrome because there the theme should work as properly. If your problem is still there on this browser, please try to disable all the active plugins, leave just Visual Composer to active, clear all your caches and install only the plugins that come bundled with our theme and rule out the conflicting plugins.
Hope this helps and let us know how it goes!
Thanks for your understanding!
Hello,
This issue is caused by your caching plugin settings. Please use the recommended wp super cache plugin and these settings: https://forum.tagdiv.com/cache-plugin-install-and-configure/
Also if you use a cdn server please check the settings there as well.
Thank you!
Hello,
Please check your caching plugin and it’s settings. We recommend using wp super cache and these settings: https://forum.tagdiv.com/cache-plugin-install-and-configure/
You can also try to disable all plugins except visual composer, clear cache and reset cdn files if you use it. Plugin conflicts can also cause theme elements to not function properly.
Let us know how it goes.
Thank you!
Hello mutebobby,
Try to disable all the active plugins, leave just Visual Composer to active, clear all your caches and install only the plugins that come bundled with our theme and rule out the conflicting plugins. It is possible that your untested plugins to interact with the theme code and cause this type of issue.
After this, if your problem is still there, please send us an email at contact@tagdiv.com with your log-in information (wp-admin) so we can further inspect the problems. Also, please provide the link of this topic so we can easily identify you.
Thanks for your understanding!
Hey Guys, so i recently updated the newspaper theme to the new version 7.2. I updated all the website code to the new update.
I use the w3 total cache plugin to cache the website together with apc and php-fpm. I have been experiencing an error every-time i turn on the mobile theme plugin, the mobile theme displays on desktop devices across all browsers , instead of only moblie.
what could be possibly doing wrong?
Not an issue with the theme but more a question for the developers/community: what’s your preferred caching setup for Newspaper? What do tagDiv run or recommend as an ideal setup? And has anyone experienced random downtime using WP Super Cache?
I’d used WP Super Cache in the past but had issues with my site going offline, which I tracked down to the plugin (although I couldn’t tell why). W3 Total Cache is my favourite caching plugin but isn’t approved for use with Newspaper, and as such has caused me issues with the newspaper dashboard (wiping settings).
So I’m back to WP Super Cache, and the random downtime has returned. Jetpack reports the site went down 6 times in one day, for between 5–13 minutes. Has anyone else experiences this? Google Search console doesn’t seem to show any connectivity errors, but the downtime is so quick I’m not sure it would. I have on occasion been able to confirm the site is actual down, so it doesn’t seem to be a false positive from Jetpack.
Other plugins we run are:
— Akismet
— Autoptimize
— CloudFlare
— Code Embed
— Contact Form 7
— Cookie Law Info
— Custom Facebook Feed
— Duplicate Post
— Google AdSense
— Jetpack
— Limit Login Attempts
— Mailchimp
— Regenerate Thumbnails
— Remove query strings from static resources
— Revolution Slider
— Simple Local Avatars
— tagDiv Mobile Theme
— tagDiv Social Counter
— tagDiv Speed Booster
— Use Google libraries
— Wordfence Security
— WP Smush
— WP Super Cache
— WP-Optimize
— WPBakery Visual Composer
— Yoast SEO
Could any of these be conflicting? There are a few of these that offer caching features.
Interested to hear other Newspaper users’ thoughts.
Hi,
I am trying to figure out why on IPAD, pictures in articles are missing. I am seeing all the pictures as normal on a PC, however if I use both Safari or Chrome on IPAD it is not showing pictures. IPAD is showing only the featured image but not the other images in the articles. Here is an example:
http://jesuscircle.me/a-prophetic-word-the-emergence-of-the-bride/
Any idea what is causing this. I disabled all plugins except visual composer and cleared cache and it still did not work?
Looking forward to your response. Have a great day!
I already contacted my host and was told that there are no server caches for my account.
How would I go about disabling my maintenance mode / coming soon plug in? Is this something that is automatically installed somewhere? I don’t see this option in my plug ins and I am still having the same problem sharing on social channels.
Thanks,
