Hi,
Please make sure that you do not have a plugin conflict with untested plugins, please deactivate all non theme plugins and child theme ( if you are using ), clear all cache and try again.
Let me know the results!

Hi
Thanks. This article is a bit out of date as it references Child Themes. I can do the coding but would like to know which Flex Block 1 td_ php file contains the code that services the title display. Am going mad and can’t find it.
Best
G
Thanks for your response, Vlad. It didn’t work. Both of the required plugins will not install even when the new theme is activated instead of the child theme.
What could be the case? Again, let me remind you that my live site is doing just fine with this child theme up through 9.7.2. But, I’m having all of this trouble with 9.7.3.
How much of a security risk is it by my staying with 9.7.2?
Thanks Calin. In the case you decide to not to change the link, at least provide a filter (or another method) to update it ourselves from a child theme (could be useful to add default parameters).
Meanwhile I’ve replaced the code.
Thank you!

Hello !
Please make sure that you do not have a plugin conflict, please deactivate all non theme plugins, also if you are using child theme or cache plugin, deactivate them, clear all cache and try again.

Hi,
Normally it depends on the setting in the post edit screen. If the post template is set like this
– http://prntscr.com/of6xy9 it will inherit the general post template setting from the theme panel.
However currently there is an issue in this matter. If a child theme is active the post templates won’t apply correctly. This issue will be fixed in the coming theme update, but for the time being please deactivate the child theme if possible. Sorry for the inconvenience. Let me know if you have more questions.
Thanks

1. Yes, you can import only the demo settings and yes, your content is safe, but notice that if you import the demo with content and you make changes in this, after you uninstall or change the theme the changes made in the demo content will be lost -> https://tagdiv.com/newspaper-theme-installing-demos/

Hi,
Starting from the 9.7 theme update there have been changes made to the the file structure. Most of the theme files were moved in the composer plugin, we posted an article at the time here – https://tagdiv.com/updating-the-core-of-tagdiv-themes/
Also we mentioned it in the theme changelog – http://prntscr.com/of41i7
A consequence of moving the theme files in the composer, is that the child theme now has limited use. We will try to provide more capabilities for the child theme however, in coming updates.
Now the file you are looking for is here – https://prnt.sc/nyqald you could modify it there if needed.
Let me know if you have more questions.
Thanks
Hi,
Depends on what the child theme contains. If you have custom CSS in it’s stylesheet you could move it in the theme panel dedicated CSS section. If you have code in it’s functions file, you could move it in the main theme functions for the time being.
In the next theme update the issue with the child theme will be fixed, also we will add more capabilities for it. So you can activate it then if needed.
I tried to translate the footer page with polylang, I created a page in two languages, but I can’t seem to find a way to change the ID of the page when the language is changed. I believe the string must somehow be added first, polylang doesn’t seem to find theme strings as WPML does automatically.

I want to enable Whatsapp sharing button on desktop. CSS should not be a problem, but the link starts with whatsapp://send?text=H, I’d like to override it to https://wa.me/?text= in a child theme.
May I know why the theme is not using the latest form of the link?
Hello,
Yes, you are right. It’s the “Newspaper 9 Child Theme” which is activated. How could I desactivate it without affecting the website ?
About the footer, I see that your suggestions are concerning the String Translations which can be modified throuh the database of the website. Unfortunately, I don’t know how to code. We paid someone to do that. If I could know the procedures how to do these string Translations, it coul be great.
I thought a child theme is active – https://www.digitalbusiness.africa/wp-content/themes/Newspaper-child/style.css?ver=9.7.3
I could be wrong however, since the post templates seem to be applying properly.
Did you try the footer page suggestions that I mentioned above? I see that the footer page is still not changing per language. It should be possible with the polylang string translation, I didn’t make tests with this plugin unfortunately.
Please, what is a child theme ? we use newspaper 9.
Thanks for your response!
Hi Vlad,
Issue – 1 – mobile header
On the mobile, the problem still persists. It did not change it at all. PLease can you confirm on https://searchgo.co/signature-townhouse-hyde-park/ for example?
Request – 2 – date
I placed the code in the child functions.pho – see screenshot:
It works on the posting page – however, on the homepage, it shows above the images see screenshot: https://pasteboard.co/InCr8n2.png
Also, is there a way on the posting page that it can be darker or bold? SO that visitors notice that it was updated.
Here is the code in child theme functions: https://pasteboard.co/InCocUS.png
Thank you
Vincent
That should work fine. I tried that as well, looks alright for me
– http://prntscr.com/odze0w – http://prntscr.com/odzeh5
Are you sure you removed the entire script? You could try and remove the whole code from here – http://prntscr.com/odzg5l to here – http://prntscr.com/odzhve
Most of the post templates are located in the composer plugin at the moment
– http://prntscr.com/odzijo
In coming updates we will try to add the possibility to customize them same as before, in a child theme. At the moment it is not possible to modify them except directly.
Hello @jbaldera,
You should insert this code on your functions.php on your child template:
add_action( ‘wp_enqueue_scripts’, ‘theme_enqueue_styles’, 11);
function theme_enqueue_styles() {
wp_enqueue_style(‘td-theme’, get_template_directory_uri() . ‘/style.css’, ”, TD_THEME_VERSION, ‘all’ );
wp_enqueue_style(‘td-theme-child’, get_stylesheet_directory_uri() . ‘/style.css’, array(‘td-theme’), TD_THEME_VERSION . ‘c’, ‘all’ );
Hi @jbaldera,
Please make sure that you’ve installed the theme according to our documentation -> https://tagdiv.com/how-to-install-newspaper-theme/
Please make sure that all the settings are like in our requirements, please follow the guide carefully

Do you maybe use a child theme? There is an issue currently, the post templates don’t apply correctly when the child theme is active. We will fix this issue in the coming theme update. For the time being it would be best to keep it deactivated if possible.
I see the problem with the footer. It should be like this, if the initial language is French set the French page version in the footer. Then translate the footer page field with the plugin’s string translation (should be an equivalent in polylang similar to WPML)
– https://polylang.pro/doc/strings-translation/
The string that has to be translated (the one that contains the ID of the page used as footer page) is called “tds_footer_page”. When translating it for English enter the ID of the English page – http://prntscr.com/odxo12 so when the language is changed the footer page will chnage as well.
With WPML it works fine, but I haven’t tried it with polylang.
