Hello Edragon,
Please notice that our child theme comes bundled with the theme packet and this version is only available (tested) with our theme. For more information about this, please consult here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/the-child-theme-support-tutorial/
Thanks for the message!
@Edragon
I think you got seriously lost someplace.
When you go to ThemeForest, on the downloads page, you can choose multiple options including “all files and theme” or just “the theme.”
As stated, you need to download the main “all files” zip and then unzip that on you hard drive.
In there is a folder called plugins, which clearly contains
1) revolution_slider_5
2) js_composer.zip
3) td-mobile-plugin.zip
4) td-social-booster.zip
5) td-speed-booster.zip
I assure you it is there as thousands of other people here can attest.
You don’t need to ‘update’ the Visual Composer plugin just because an update is available; as it might not be tested to work properly with theme. So VC is only updated when the entire theme package is updated, unless you buy your own VC license separately. So once you install the version included with theme, you don’t need to ‘activate’ it with WP Bakery; but I’m guessing that is not your issue if you didn’t even locate the plugins folder.
## here is the readme from the td-mobile-plugin, once you unzip that folder:
Welcome to the TagDiv Mobile Theme plugin
TagDiv Mobile Theme plugin extends our themes to offer you a better experience on mobile devices. We are in a continue research
in our work, doing our best for fitting your needs, and because the mobile environment is growing up quickly,
and also your expectations, we come to you with a mobile theme that has been tested to load fast using only the necessary components.
The mobile templates files are in the ./mobile theme directory, the TagDiv Mobile Theme plugin detecting and working with them.
From the Mobile Theme section of our well known theme panel, all important mobile theme settings can be set.
Without activating the TagDiv Mobile Theme plugin, the responsive version of our theme is used on mobile devices.
###
ALSO, from the theme docs here for install via FTP, it does tell you to download the -tf version of the zip (all files):
Install via FTP
You can install the theme in two ways: through WordPress or via FTP.
The Newspaper WordPress Theme installable file is Newspaper.zip. Please see the following sections for each method and watch our video tutorial on how to install the Newspaper Theme.
Download the Newspaper files from your ThemeForest account. Navigate to your Downloads tab on ThemeForest and find Newspaper. Click the Download button.
On your local computer extract the ZIP folder called Newspaper-tf. After extracting files you will open the folder called Newspaper-tf where you will find more folders (child-theme, documentation, licensing, plugins, psd).
Locate the Newspaper.zip in the Newspaper-tf folder (this is the theme you want to install).
##
good luck and welcome to the giant Newspaper family of users here — I’ve been lurking here since end of 2013 ! 🙂
The problem is: changes in td_module.php cannot be done via child theme this they are not update safe.
Please unpack the theme to a folder after you download NewsPaper from ThemeForest. You will find a folder called “code”.
Inside that folder you will find another folder, called “Newspaper-child”. Upload that via FTP or from CPanel to your theme folder. Then go to Themes in WordPress and activate your desired child theme.
Hi,
We are having problems with newspaper theme since two weeks now, it slows our server big time and in logs we have noticed more child process and reached MaxRequestWorkers setting errors.
Need help fixing this.
Thanks
In documentation myou wrote that you have child theme support, but can not find anywhere any information about it, where I can activate and use child theme? Or does it work differently from other themes like valenti who adds autonatically child theme and let’s you activate it.
Hello, Please try one more thing:
disable all plugins except visual composer, clear cache and reset cdn files if you use it. Please also check any custom code you might have added to the theme panel or the theme files. If you use a child theme, please switch to the main theme to make sure it does not affect the proper functionality of the theme.
Then test again and see if the translation work.
Thank you!
Hello,
I don’t think there is a bug in the theme but rather a plugin conflict or a config issue.
Please increase your system status parameters as follows: https://forum.tagdiv.com/system-status-parameters-guide/
Then test again. If the issue is still there please disable all plugins except visual composer, clear cache and reset cdn files if you use it. Please also check any custom code you might have added to the theme panel or the theme files. If you use a child theme, please switch to the main theme to make sure it does not affect the proper functionality of the theme.
Thank you!
Hello,
The theme does not show double images except when you add the featured image and insert it in the post content as well. Please do not insert the featured image in the post content, but only in the featured image spot as shown here: https://forum.tagdiv.com/featured-image/
If you do not add the featured image inside the post content as well, and it shows up double This could be a plugin conflict so please disable all plugins except visual composer, clear cache and reset cdn files if you use it. Please also check any custom code you might have added to the theme panel or the theme files. If you use a child theme, please switch to the main theme to make sure it does not affect the proper functionality of the theme.
Thank you!
Hello,
Please try one more test.
Disable all plugins except visual composer, clear cache and reset cdn files if you use it. Then switch to the main theme (not child) and test the password protected page again.
If you still encounter issues please let us know.
Thank you!
Hello, Yes the problem is still there .as i have said i ghave installed the theme via ftp, disabled childtheme and all plugins.. still the same.. even tried csutom css align text but it did not work either.. where i can send the screen shots? you want me to send you screen shot of centered text?
Hi, I appreciate your response. I did some testing.
I put the Twenty Fifteen WP theme as active, and I cannot replicate the problem when that theme is on. So the password-protected login page does work with the default theme, and does not work when Newspaper (Child) theme is active currently.
My online research shows that the solution has been solved in the past by editing the functions file of the theme. I understand this may not be the same problem now, however logic indicates the theme seems to be causing the problem, so I still believe I need some help from you.
Can I provide you with guest login so you can recreate the problem and see that switching between child theme and default theme causes this password protected page to break: http://mauimagazine.net/digital-access/
(You will also need the password to the page to test it.)
Thank you.
Hi I have treid swithc off all plugins, and laso swaped the theme as i am susing child theme..- with all plugins switch of and childtheme disabled the problem is still occuring:/ any other ideas?
Hello,
Sorry but I cannot access your site: http://screencast.com/t/FeaC4ZXte
Please let us know when we can access the site and see the error.
Until then you can try to disable all plugins except visual composer, clear cache and reset cdn files if you use it. Please also check any custom code you might have added to the theme panel or the theme files. If you use a child theme, please switch to the main theme to make sure it does not affect the proper functionality of the theme.
Thank you!
By default posts sort by publish time. I need sort it by asc. How can i do it? I use child theme and custom td_module_15.php template.
Hello,
It’s no theme bug as we do not get this error.
It’s probably a plugin that is not compatible with the new version of WP .
please disable all plugins except visual composer, clear cache and reset cdn files if you use it. Please also check any custom code you might have added to the theme panel or the theme files. If you use a child theme, please switch to the main theme to make sure it does not affect the proper functionality of the theme.
Thank you!
Hello,
I suggest reinstalling the theme using ftp: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/ and then testing without plugins: please disable all plugins except visual composer, clear cache and reset cdn files if you use it. Please also check any custom code you might have added to the theme panel or the theme files. If you use a child theme, please switch to the main theme to make sure it does not affect the proper functionality of the theme.
Thank you!
Hello,
Please make all of these tests without plugins. Plugins are the number one reason the theme functionality is affected. Please disable all plugins and only leave visual composer active. Then clear all caching from the cache plugin (we only recommend wp super cache), from the cdn server and from the host if there is any hosting related cache.
Then after all this test if you can save anything in the theme panel, check if you can disable the ads or add other ads, check if the social icons can be deactivated: http://screencast.com/t/5r8ZPkZdCbV
If you use a child theme, that can also cause issues if it’s not been updated.
If you still have trouble please contact us on our email address at contact@tagdiv.com and provide a link to your site and wp-admin (login information and admin rights) so we can login and investigate. Please also include a link to this conversation.
Thank you!
Hello,
I tested the password protect on my end but it works fine with the new version of WP so the theme is not the cause here.
This could be a plugin conflict so please disable all plugins except visual composer, clear cache and reset cdn files if you use it. Please also check any custom code you might have added to the theme panel or the theme files. If you use a child theme, please switch to the main theme to make sure it does not affect the proper functionality of the theme.
Thank you!
Hello,
This probably happens because of the modifications made to the menu or a plugin css conflict. Please disable all plugins except visual composer, clear cache and reset cdn files if you use it. Please also check any custom code you might have added to the theme panel or the theme files. If you use a child theme, please switch to the main theme to make sure it does not affect the proper functionality of the theme.
If the issue is still there please provide a link to your site so i can inspect the menu.
Thank you!
Hi, I updated to a new version of WordPress yesterday and noticed today that my page using the basic WordPress “add a password” to this page function is not working. It’s creating a loop pushing to: wp-login.php?action=postpass
Page: http://mauimagazine.net/digital-access/
I did some research and it’s easy to find enough information on the subject, showing this as the solution:
The solution is to change your theme functions file (/wp-content/your-theme-name/functions.php), replacing the reference to wp-pass.php with wp-login.php?action=postpass.
However, I wasn’t able to find the wp-pass.php anywhere in my Newspaper theme or child theme files. So I am unable to fix it so far.
Can you help with this? THANK YOU
Of course it will still ask. You have to ignore it. That is what the guide sais. It does not instruct you to do anything about it: http://screencast.com/t/paVAiyyUej
If your plugins does not work, then that is a different matter altogether.
Please disable all plugins except visual composer, clear cache and reset cdn files if you use it. Please also check any custom code you might have added to the theme panel or the theme files. If you use a child theme, please switch to the main theme to make sure it does not affect the proper functionality of the theme.
Thank you!
Hello,
This could be a caching issue. Please disable any hosting cache (contact your host) and only use wp super cache and these settings: https://forum.tagdiv.com/cache-plugin-install-and-configure/ If you use a cdn: https://forum.tagdiv.com/cloudflare-cdn/
It could also be a plugin conflict so please disable all plugins except visual composer, clear cache and reset cdn files if you use it. Please also check any custom code you might have added to the theme panel or the theme files. If you use a child theme, please switch to the main theme to make sure it does not affect the proper functionality of the theme.
Thank you!

Hello,
Well you do not have VC installed at the moment so I cannot say for sure what is happening. please try this test:
disable all plugins except visual composer, clear cache and reset cdn files if you use it. Please also check any custom code you might have added to the theme panel or the theme files. If you use a child theme, please switch to the main theme to make sure it does not affect the proper functionality of the theme.
