Hi,
Do you use child theme?
If you do please switch to the main theme and check if you still have this issue. Also if you use CDN please purge your files.
Thanks!
Hi,
The megamenu was not designed to work on rows, that why you have this issue. You have changed the number of post displayed on megamenu from the code and get this issue.
You can try this css code in Theme Panel > Custom Css if you want to use the megamenu like that: http://screencast.com/t/BQ0CaXA9PU0
.td_mod_mega_menu:nth-child(6){
clear: left;
}
Thanks!
Hey,
I wanted to replace module 6 within block 3 with module 7. This is because there’s no block that calls on module 7, which I want as my frontpage.
I did this by editing the td_block_3.php file and making it call on module 7 instead of module 6 as well as making it so that it only uses the one column layout. You can see how I did this here: http://i.imgur.com/Tz5JHhu.png
Now, this works when I do this within the parent theme. However, when I try to do this within the child theme it doesn’t work. Could you recommend to me the best way to do this through a child theme to get the results I’m looking for?
Any help is much appreciated, thanks.
Hello,
I hope your day is going well.
Recently, I’ve noticed when browsing to my site using the url: tribyoot.org that I get this message at the top of the browser.
/* —————————————————————————- WordPress booster framework – this is our theme framework – all the content and settings are there It is not necessary to include it in the child theme only if you want to use the API */ if (!defined(‘TD_THEME_WP_BOOSTER’)) { include TEMPLATEPATH . ‘/includes/td_wordpres_booster.php’; } ?>
Can you help be detect what the issue is here? I have been working on it but cannot put my finder on it yet. I’m sure there is a simple solution that I am overlooking.
Cheers.
Philip
Of course it is and thank you. I was merely trying to inform the developers that
1- It is not related to a child theme
2- It needs to be fixed, because the solution provided is temporary
3- Even if you follow the update procedure given on the documentation, it does not work so this is something else.
Hi,
Yes, I have downloaded and then redownloaded the latest theme pack, tried using newsmag as a name for the theme, tried using our typical folder name, even a child theme, but nothing helped.
When I downgraded back to 1.4, everything was back in normal.
Evertyhing was working fine before. I followed the instructions provided in “How to update the theme” section of the documentation. I followed the “B” method. Now I have this search bar problem. I applied the css fix but this is removes the search functionality.
I am not using a child theme and I would like to have the search functionality back. Hiding it is mereley a temporary solution.
My update went perfectly.
@carelpedre
try to delete visual composer, tag div plugins folders, theme folder, and install the new versions from scratch; don’t use child theme; try using my upgrade guide.
It does work!
Hi
no trouble updating to 1.7
One minor CSS bug … with the default WordPress “recent posts” widget, if I place this in sidebar or the footer column 2, there is unusual double line break at begin of each li element.
Other than that, so far, everything works perfectly. 🙂
*FYI:
Not using child theme; mod_pagespeed off while updating; tagdiv speed booster plugin not yet “on” while checking. style.css was minified but otherwise not modified.
NO link to example, as I have it off and using module 9 instead for the moment. Actually needed to do a regen thumbnails for another reason entirely, and sitting here waiting on 9 years of images to regen (!). Ugh.
I’m using a child theme (newsmag child theme) and when I updated to 1.7 I also got that very same issue..Even when I disabled all plugins same issue. I removed the search altogether following a tut I saw on here from the response to another poster, but I’ll go try this instead, since having a search bar is still needed for my site..Hoping future updates won’t be so wonky anymore..
Are you guys using a child theme?
Chris, I’m curious why you don’t recommend using a child theme?
We just updated to the latest version of Newsmag and our site is now blank and the dashboard is blank too.
We get this error message
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘[‘, expecting ‘)’ in /var/www/vhosts/flavourmag.co.uk/httpdocs/wp-content/themes/Newsmag/includes/wp_booster/td_menu.php on line 191
For now i’ve removed [‘show_child_cat’]
What can we do about this?
I personally don’t recommend child theme.
If you made changes to the core theme files, you need to make those changes again.
Updating won’t destroy your current settings, but obviously you SHOULD be keeping backups of your theme settings and your CSS customizations.
Follow my upgrade guide as best way; over-writing is not best method — you need to DELETE old theme folder, then upload NEW theme folder.
This may be a stupid question, but if I update the theme by just ftp overwriting the folder, what is that going to change with how the site is set up? I see the note about using a child theme, which I haven’t done, and don’t really understand.
Is it safe to just update as suggested, or is that going to mess stuff up?
Hey Guys,
I am not sure if this is a theme issue or my own issue but thought I’d run this by you.
I had about 800+ users on the site at once and it was running slow and intermittently giving errors about not being able to connect to database , so I called hosting who had a look and advised there’s an issue with td_module_9 in the child theme having so many php connections to the database that haven’t been closed for more than 2 minutes, and they said these connections should usually close within a few seconds.
The strange part is that I believe I am not using module 9 at all !
Again , I do have some mods in my theme , so this could be my own issue and sorry to waste your time .. if the solution would be to delete this module from the child and main theme then I could do it.
I will flick you a separate emails with the site details.
Cheers,
Hi,
If you use header style 2 please modify header-style-2.php like this: http://screencast.com/t/J1hj7mSkP1Cy
<?php if (! is_single()){
locate_template('parts/header/ads.php', true);
}?>
Please modify this in the main theme files not in child theme, at the moment modules and parts files can’t be overwritten via child theme.
Thanks!
Documentation is very simple: “Copy and place the code in the HTML-coding of your site in the location where you want to place the selected social buttons”.
This is the code:
<script type=”text/javascript”>(function() {
if (window.pluso)if (typeof window.pluso.start == “function”) return;
if (window.ifpluso==undefined) { window.ifpluso = 1;
var d = document, s = d.createElement(‘script’), g = ‘getElementsByTagName’;
s.type = ‘text/javascript’; s.charset=’UTF-8′; s.async = true;
s.src = (‘https:’ == window.location.protocol ? ‘https’ : ‘http’) + ‘://share.pluso.ru/pluso-like.js’;
var h=d[g](‘body’)[0];
h.appendChild(s);
}})();</script>
<div class=”pluso” data-background=”none;” data-options=”big,square,line,horizontal,counter,sepcounter=1,theme=14″ data-services=”facebook,vkontakte,google,twitter”></div>
I repeat my question: where I must place this code?
Hi,
Please check your child theme files even your child theme is current version, you may have to update those files in the child theme and add the custom modifications again. Also purge your files if you use CDN.
Thanks!
Hi,
Since (I think) we don’t have individual licence codes for VC I can’t make a support account, so I decided to post here.
I notice that when I use VC row shortcodes in posts, I get extra <p> tags added before and after the columns.
You can see this on this (temporarily visible) post here: http://themedium.ca/magazine-articles/kids-these-days
The photos are in five rows, each with 1/3 columns, inserted using the shortcode. If you inspect source you can see that there are empty <p></p> tags between the row opening and closing and the columns.
The problem is that this makes the first column no longer the first child of the row div and so the style doesn’t set its left margin to 0. Because of this, there’s no longer room for the third column and it gets pushed onto the next line.
I assume the reason this happens in posts and not pages has something to do with the the_content filter or something?
Thanks! 🙂
Hi,
Unfortunately those files aren’t editable via child theme, you can find more details about child theme here: https://forum.tagdiv.com/child-theme-documentation-newsmag/
Please note though that the overwrite system for modules has been changed within latest theme update. As Emil also stated we will write a documentation on how to do this soon.
Thanks
Hi,
Unfortunately this file cannot be overwritten by the child theme.
Thanks!
Hi,
Please note within the latest theme version we have changed the child theme system (for which we will have a documentation available soon) and because of that at the moment module and parts files can’t be overwritten via child theme.
Sorry for the inconvenience!
Thanks!
hello,
the template is in the current version, the same as a child theme.
The same problem also turned off all plugins.
