When you “Add Element” w Visual Composer, one of the items is “WP Categories”

How can you include only SOME categories? Most of the other elements that you can add allow you to select categories by number and that option isnt listed w “WP Categories”

If it isnt possible with this element? Can you suggest one that lets you list only categories that you specify?

Thanks…

Hi

I’ve test the SEO By Yoast plugin V3.0.1 with the theme and seams to works fine: http://screencast.com/t/Q9rO8zFf However we will investigate more the plugin’s behavior with the theme. Please provide more details about the plugin’s configuration that you’ve used so we can duplicate the situation and investigate it in order to find a solution. Also you can test this without any plugins active, leave just Visual Composer and Yoast active, just to make sure that there isn’t a conflict with another plugin.

Thanks!

Hi

I’ve test the more article box on my side and works fine on mobile devices, if I press X the pop up window close down. Try deactivate all plugins except Visual Composer, clear all caches and test again.
Also I’ve tried to accesses your site but it’s not available: http://screencast.com/t/u6UmtxUea

Let me know how it goes.
Thanks!

Hello,

Unfortunately our theme was built using a fixed width and all the elements depend on that width. But inspecting your website i saw that only a few images were full width. The rest of the content is in a fixed width container.
We have a few full width options in our theme as well, like a few post styles that use the featured image at full width:
http://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/td-post-the-new-screen-savers-the-show-that-launched-video-into-the-stratosphere/
http://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/td-post-lenovo-details-new-computers-that-could-be-heading-our-way-in-2015/
http://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/td-post-2015-awards-all-of-the-best-and-worst-moments-from-the-show/
And you can also use visual composer to add full width images to your pages like in our travel demo: http://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper_travel/
In order to achieve this result you can follow this topic: https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/adding-top-area-like-travel-example/

I hope this helps.
Thank you!

Hi posonty,

For solve your problem, please activate the Full Height Row in Visual Composer, like this: http://screencast.com/t/6w1W2NwNN and do not use the background image because when you use this, the layout of the site will become box.

I hope this helps and let us know how it goes!

Thanks!

Hi xmirz0,

I have tested this plugin on our theme and seems to works fine. Below you can find the steps that you need to follow to work this plugin.
After install, in your widgets area you can see it: http://screencast.com/t/1awc8Nj6rk . For instance, i used a cocacola Instagram id and the plugin gives you a shortcode, like this: http://screencast.com/t/ZdmVHJFdwHH . This shortcode you have to put as you wish in posts, pages, in article editor like this: http://screencast.com/t/SkbvnGMGhttp://screencast.com/t/3Z1rTGy26g . Also, if you want to use it on side bar, please follow this: http://screencast.com/t/3RvUnkZKlX0http://screencast.com/t/6MaIg6EUzsp and the result should see here: http://screencast.com/t/4NTKUU7H0 .

Before use this plugin, i suggest to clear all active plugin except visual composer because maybe cause an conflict.

I hope this helps and let us know how it goes!

Thank you!

Hello,
The screenshots you presented are visual composer settings but the link you provided is of a post. For posts, the best way to chieve your goal is to change the post template to make the featured image be displayed full width:

http://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/td-post-the-new-screen-savers-the-show-that-launched-video-into-the-stratosphere/
http://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/td-post-lenovo-details-new-computers-that-could-be-heading-our-way-in-2015/
http://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/td-post-2015-awards-all-of-the-best-and-worst-moments-from-the-show/

If you use visual composer on posts and you do not want to use another post template, you can use the full width row, but it will not work with a background image. If a background color or image is set, the website becomes boxed. It will not be able to display VC elements full width.

I hope this helps.
Thank you!

Hi

The latest version of theme is tested with WP Super Cache and works fine. Please make sure that you configured the plugin according with our documentation: https://forum.tagdiv.com/cache-plugin-install-and-configure/ Also try to deactivate all others plugins except Visual Composer and WP Super Cache then test again.

Let us know how it goes.
Thanks!

Hello,

I tested the gallery myself and it seems to behave like that even on a WP default theme. The responsiveness and positioning comes from the visual composer plugin. It calculates them based on the image sizes. You will have to use different sizes for your images to fit the screen properly.
I will add this issue on our list of updates and we will try in future versions of our theme to implement a few responsive options for these VC elements.
Sorry for the inconvenience.

Thank you!

Hi

Thanks @Chris for the suggestions.

@gojira68
sorry for the delay, we somehow missed your post.
In addition at @Chris’s suggestions you could also try do deactivate all plugins except Visual Composer, clear all caches and test again. Some plugins may consumes lots of resources so you can enable them one by one and check if this issue appears again. Also try using a plugin like WP Super Cache for cache and check the values from system status: http://screencast.com/t/M7ehnoxZ
max_execution_time should be at 300 and max_input_vars should be above 2000.

Let us know how it goes.
Thanks!

Hello,

The image number is for the image i set. I showed you above how to use a single image element in visual composer. Just create a blank page, add a single image element, select your image, apply some settings/styling to it, then enter classic mode and text mode(not visual) and you will see the code for your image.
You can use the same method on posts. The posts have 2 files that correspond for one template. There is the single.php files and the loop-single.php. For this you have to edit the loop files. http://screencast.com/t/Dq6GqnpUBQ3O

Thanks.

Thanks for the quick reply, Bogdan. The following are all screenshots of my wordpress backend including visual composer. Also included are shots of what the image gallery looks like on mobile.

Composer Row Settings
Firefox Web Inspector
iPhone 6 Plus Screenshot
Safari Screenshot
Visual Composer Backend

I tried using the responsive row settings dialog box to no avail. It would push the gallery 1 row to the right when I used the ‘1 column offset’, but this was still not centered; close, but not centered.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Hi

I’ve checked this on my side and for posts the drop-caps works fine even if I use a text block (if I have Visual Composer active for posts): http://screencast.com/t/iUc11Z99TMhttp://screencast.com/t/E5ysxMijj
The drop-caps weren’t designed to to work on pages, the css classes are different that’s why the css doesn’t applies. Please provide a link where this issue appears so I can investigate it closer and maybe I can provide a solution.

Thanks!

Hello,
As you know the plugin just updated an hour ago. We had no time to test it thoroughly, but i did install the new update on my end. I have tested the problems you mentioned right now and everything seems fine. It works as expected.
You can check if it creates conflicts with another plugin. Try the usual disable all plugins except visual composer and SEO and check again.
Thanks.

Hi,

If you want the first thing on the page to be the image, then you need to add your code in the category template files: http://screencast.com/t/Jhqe3L6t

<?php echo do_shortcode('[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image="223" img_size="full" css=".vc_custom_1447858280464{padding-top: 20px !important;padding-bottom: 20px !important;}"][/vc_column][/vc_row]');?>

I just added a few more option to the image in visual composer like full size and padding.
Place it like so: http://screencast.com/t/gH5GgPEb
Just be advised that this will generate the same image on every category that uses this template.

result: http://screencast.com/t/jNBgRk8D

Thanks

Hi

Sorry for the inconvenience, we try our best to provide the best quality themes and support.
First please backup the whole current theme installation as well as the database and wp install: https://codex.wordpress.org/WordPress_Backups
Version 1.7.1 which you have it installed: http://screencast.com/t/BUr9CmZE have this plugins included in its path: http://screencast.com/t/tpdW0mTb You need to delete them, also delete the old theme: http://screencast.com/t/xrHoImmmQZ and install the V2.3.1 of the theme. After this step install the new plugins, only Visual Composer is required, install the other ones only if you need them: http://screencast.com/t/bMVnQrywyhttp://screencast.com/t/V8j2YSlZt1

The differences between V1.7.1 and the current one are major. Lots of files are changed, lot of code was modified and your customizations from child theme may not work properly with the latest version of the theme.
The point of a child theme is to keep the customization even if the main theme it’s updated. But this is not always valid, because once in a while the child theme it’s also updated, or if the main theme pass through a major update it’s possible that some customizations not work well anymore.
Since V2.0 the include system for css has been changed in child theme: http://screencast.com/t/UKZpoPCiw and using the old child theme instead of the updated one could cause issues with theme’s style. That was the reason why I have mentioned the child theme update.

Let me know how it goes!
Thanks!

Just checked and this behaviour seems to be caused by Visual Composer. If you add a Text Block through VC and try to do a Dropcaps I get this wrong output. If however I go to the ‘standard’ editor and use the Dropcaps style it is rendered properly.. Please investigate 🙂

Hi

it seem there’s lot of problems with new update of Yoast Seo 3.0

The screen of the articles does not allow changes and seo features are locked.
In the pages no longer works visual composer.

Do You find same problems with the update Yoast 3.0?
Until 2.3.5 was all ok

Thanks

Hello,

I understand your request now. The example above only placed an image on the category page.
You will need to edit the top post files located here: http://screencast.com/t/5V35g4r7aO
Every file corresponds to a top post style you set from the theme panel: http://screencast.com/t/Koefd7FWIm
The shortcode i used was from a visual composer single image element. You can see visual composer shortcodes in text mode when editing a page. You can add a single image element in visual composer when editing a page and style it as you want: http://screencast.com/t/VBHhKVZuk2Oy -http://screencast.com/t/yv4uWDhsMH
Then after you are done with the image settings, you can enter text edit mode and copy the code created for the image to the files as i have shown you above using do_shortcode. You basically copy and paste a visual composer element which is responsive by default.
But the code will not set the feature image anywhere. It just places an image on the category page.
If you want to set the featured images on all 8000 post, besides the manual version, one thing you might try, if you already have an image “in the post” of some type, use the “auto post thumbnail pro” plugin which will automatically take first image from post (or from external site, if necessary) and then generate thumb and assign as “featured” image in every post.
Unfortunately there is no other option for this. You can maybe find a free plugin to do this as well.
I hope this helps
Thank you!

Hi

The theme doesn’t control the file’s size which is uploaded in media library, this is controlled by WordPress and usually should be a higher limit: http://screencast.com/t/pcA7GxBCSrk I am not sure why this issue occur but you can try to deactivate all plugins except Visual Composer, clear all caches and test again.

Let me know how it goes.
Thanks!

Hi

1. You can change the header background color from theme panel > theme colors: http://screencast.com/t/Df7P0aCbahttp://screencast.com/t/3W5DO3M8hQfs

2. The latest article sections don’t uses elements from Visual Composer, that section it’s generated according with settings from post loop settings: http://screencast.com/t/bjlWMMDoU1
The theme have an ad spot for footer ads in theme panel > ads sections: http://screencast.com/t/fSqD3AhyGohttp://screencast.com/t/eLb6IhnwEsa

Let me know how it goes and if this is not what you mean please provide more details.
Thanks!

Hi,
Try to deactivate all plugins except Visual Composer, clear the caches then check if this errors still appear in error log.
The last two errors occur when you try to access the theme’s index.php file directly and this is caused by the theme’s inability to locate the WordPress get_header function as it dose not passed trough WordPress when the request is made and in that case the function doesn’t “exist”.
You can read more about this and also have a solution for this here: http://ardamis.com/2011/06/02/fix-for-php-fatal-error-get_header-in-wordpress/

Hope this help.
Thanks

Hello,

Posts already have that option. The featured image does exactly that. Use a post template with a big featured image and you will have the desired effect: http://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/td-post-if-you-only-knew-how-much-your-relative-churn-rate-matters/
For the categories, you will need to modify the top post files in order to achieve your goal and you can add a condition to filter your categories and images: https://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/is_category
You can also use a do_shortcode to place you images. For example:
The category number represents the category id. You can get it from here: http://screencast.com/t/OKsDtKVi3G5

<?php
if (is_category(13)) {
echo do_shortcode('[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image="887"][/vc_column][/vc_row]')
}

elseif (is_category(14)){
echo do_shortcode('[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image="886"][/vc_column][/vc_row]')
}
?>

You can add some padding to the image from visual composer from design options in order to make it fit the content.

I hope this helps
Thank you!
