Hi,
Please check this without any plugins active, leave only Visual composer active see if it works. Also you can check this with a WordPress default theme and let us know.
If this works with a default theme please provide an example of embed so we can take a look.
Thanks!
Hi,
I also checked this and it works fine: http://screencast.com/t/Aiedk9x7X
<video src="http://" width="640px" height="400px" autoplay="on" controls>
Please also check this without any plugins active and leave just Visual Composer active like Christopher already suggested.
Thanks!

Try turning off all plugins except visual composer … and in normal post, in the TEXT editor, NOT the visual editor, put in the proper format code.
One presumes the link you’re inserting in wdbm=”” actually plays in the web browser if you just load the file by itself ?
Maybe try adding the preload variable?
Does the function work on another theme other than this one?
You might try the WordPress forum also.
I don’t see anything on the docs page saying you need [/video] ?

Maybe somebody else with your issue might pitch in on this one !
and again — this issue only impacts *some* websites. Tens of thousands of websites are running themes using the Visual Composer framework. A small percentage have CPU overload issues, as we did.
If your server setup doesn’t have this issue – it’s a non-issue for you. If your server has this issue it will happen with *any* WordPress theme running Visual Composer and you’ll know right away, not months later.
The “shim” plugin provides “some” of the main elements commonly used for homepage for modules; it does not provide for ALL the VC hooks/blocks/elements. So, it’s basically a solution for those few having the CPU issue — it’s not intended to replace Visual Composer.
If you’re running VC now and not getting warnings from your web host already, then you will likely not have to even deal with this issue at all.
Hello,
I’d like to make a category page look like this page:
Basically, I want to add some text description under the category name. So I think I need to use Visual Composer. Can I use pages created with it as category pages?
Is not, please give me some hints on how to accomplish what I want.
Thanks.

Hi,
Do you have any css customization?
If you use latest version of the theme(4.6.3) did you update from an older version? Di you used patch or a fresh install?
I can provide you css to fix this, but may cause cause another issues if you have custom css or did not updated properly. Also please first check this without any plugins active, leave just Visual Composer active, clear cache and check if you still have these issues.
If you want you can use this custom css in Theme Panel > Custom Css after you check what I asked above and without plugins: http://screencast.com/t/PzhbPITU7
.td-g-rec-id-header .adsbygoogle {
position: relative;
top: 0;
right: 0;
margin-top: 10px;
}
.top-header-menu li a:before {
top: -2px;
}
Thanks!
Hi,
Unfortunately Portuguese of Brazil is not available in Theme Panel, but you ca translate manually words from Translation – http://screencast.com/t/ccBL2y8ZC4
If you want to use the patch to update please make sure that you have 1.7 version and update to 1.7.1. You have to upload patch files via FTP.
If you want to make a full update please use this guide(we recommend FTP method) – https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-theme/ and also update the plugins that come with the theme file from /plugins folder – https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-visual-composer-plugin-wpbakery/
Thanks!
Hi,
Please check this also without any plugins active, leave just Visual Composer active, clear cache and check again if you still have this issue. If you have set the sidebars it should appear fine.
If you still have this issue after you test it without plugins please send an email at contact@tagdiv.com and provide wp-access so we can take a look. Paste also a link to this topic so we can know who you are.
Thanks!
Hi,
I have checked your site and found these errors in console – http://screencast.com/t/GVPln4ZRT
Please deactivate all plugins, leave just Visual Composer active, clear cache and check again if you still have this issue with megamenu. If your issue is solved please activate your plugins one by one and see which one caused this issue.
Thanks!
Hi,
@davidewebcenter – The performance issues appeared with the latest versions of VC and only some users reported them. We decided to create a quick solution for the users who were affected by this, the Shim plugin is in beta stage and we are working on it to ensure that it functions properly with all of the theme elements. If you only use the theme elements the Shim plugin can solve this problem for you, if you also use the elements which come with VC then it’s not a solution.
For the long term we plan to create our own plugin, but it’s not an easy job so it will take some time. Visual Composer will still be available for the peoples who want to use it.
Thank you, Emil G.
Hi,
Please make sure that your page has a title and if not, add one. If you still have issues with this please make sure that you also check without plugins, leave just the Visual Composer plugin active and test again.
Let us know how it goes and also provide your site’s URL.
Thanks
Hi,
As Alin pointed using the theme’s Visual Composer plugin, that VC element along with others should not appear in VC elements list ad they all were disable by. You can check your functions file for this function and check if you have the same: http://screencast.com/t/rES76ro4
All Visual Composer elements will be added and fixed from version 5 of the theme including the post grid elements.
Please also provide your site’s URL or admin login if possible and/or if you want us to look into this to see why those vc elements appear in your editor if we have disabled them and you haven;t enabled them from your function file and you sue the VC version provide by us so they shouldn’t.
Use our email address to send us your admin login details and also include a link tot this tread: contact@tagdiv.com
Thanks
Theia Post Slider WAS working fine prior to me starting to use the Visual Composer on POSTS. Once I started using it for posts is when this issue started happening.
I went to settings and took away the ability to use VC for posts (and left it for pages), and it is now still screwed up.
Thanks,
Issue is not with theme — all themes using Visual Composer as a “drag and drop page builder” are having this issue. And this only impacts some servers. We’re using NewsMag on two high traffic sites right now; one which gets a lot of traffic every day, the other gets large hits “depending on the content.”
Not sure what “SmartMag” is as this is the “NewsMag” forum, but if you read my thread then you don’t need to worry …
a) use the theme with current Visual Composer; might not impact your site/CPU depending on how your server is setup.
b) if you have a large CPU hit you will know immediately, and you can switch to using the SHIM plugin.
c) if you have a VERY high volume traffic website (e.g., millions of page views per day) you should be building a “lean framework” which doesn’t have all the pre-built options baked in, as this is not as efficient as a lean framework where you have as little as possible — e.g., TIME magazine is running on a version of twenty-fifteen theme with some custom plugins to manage editorial matters. No page builder, but lots of stuff running via cloud for fast “edge loading” via the Automattic premium platform. In that situation you would be custom building a theme to fit your needs not buying a $50 off the shelf product.
d) in our case we chose the TagDiv folk to redo our news network sites because 16 months ago when looking around they were one of the VERY few who had some clue about pagespeed optimization beyond so-called “SEO READY” … meaning, some thought given to page speed and not just “feature bloat” with some meta tags built in. We had built our own lean framework which was a pain pre-bootstrap, in 2011; went to Woo Canvas in 2012; went to TagDiv end of 2013 (has it been that long?).
But like all CMS platforms where you have a platform running on top of php, then theme(s) running on top of that, then plugins and hooks going into that, there is always a dev/test process on your end to see what works, what needs to be massaged, and what won’t work at all in your particular environment.
If you’re starting a NEW news site, I don’t think you need to worry about high traffic at this stage, as it takes awhile to build that unless you’re using bots or entirely click-bait with paid adwords per story to drive that.
————–
so, if you reads my thread you know
a) they have a fix NOW that works for those with high CPU issues
b) not all users of Visual Composer have an issue
c) the folks who make VC (not TagDiv) may optimize or fix memory issues in future version; TagDiv has NO control over that beyond working with the WP Bakery developers on the issue.
d) they may “roll their own” sideways version of a page builder which is more ‘lean’ at some point, but obviously that takes a bit of time to develop.
So, have fun and build your site 🙂
We used the Visual Composer version that came with the theme download. ‘Post Grid’ is one of the available options in the editor. So it seems that some incompatible options have not yet been removed from Visual Composer.
Hi,
You can find Visual Composer plugin in the theme’s files that you have downloaded from themeforest in /plugins folder. The latest version provided and tested with the theme is 4.4.4 version. Update it using this guide – https://forum.tagdiv.com/update-the-visual-composer-plugin-wpbakery/
Like I said above check this also without any plugins active, leave just Visual Composer active, empty cache and see if you still have this issue.
Thanks!
You talk about the WPBakery Visual Composer plugin ?
Because when i want to upgrade to the latest version it ask me to enter a CodeCanyon Visual Composer license key. But i didn’t have that.
http://bm-integrateur.com/uvb/monde-des-bouchers/bouchers-francais/hugo-desnoyer/
I use the element tab at the end of the page.
Thx
Hi,
I also tested this with latest theme version(4.6.3) and Visual Composer plugin(4.4.4) and did not found any issues – http://screencast.com/t/mnNKUuvUwF – http://screencast.com/t/h3cweb2Nbg2K
Please check this without any plugins active leave just Visual Composer active, clear cache and see if you still have this issue.
Also provide a link so we can take a look.
Thanks!
Hi,
Please deactivate all plugins leave only Visual Composer plugin active, clear cache and check if you still have this issue. Also please check this without any css/js minifications.
I also tested this with latest version of the theme 4.6.3 and and latest version of Visual Composer plugin tested and provided with the theme files (4.4.4). Please make sure that you also use the latest versions.
Thanks!
Hi,
1. Please clear cache if you use a cache plugin and your browsers cache.
2. You have to use custom css in Theme Panel > Custom Css to change:
*Current menu item – http://screencast.com/t/Gcy8WaNfXqFR
.sf-menu > .current-menu-item > a, .sf-menu > .current-menu-ancestor > a, .sf-menu > .current-category-ancestor > a {
background-color: red;
}
* Hover background color for menu item – http://screencast.com/t/U9fmTXb7OSA
.sf-menu > li > a:hover {
background-color: blue;
}
*background color for submenu – http://screencast.com/t/Qk5OG7dN8UCY – http://screencast.com/t/fMJgD1qtayP
.sf-menu .sub-menu {
background-color: red;
}
*hover subcategories in mega menu – http://screencast.com/t/qLGsETvKyWP8
.td_block_mega_menu .td_mega_menu_sub_cats .cur-sub-cat:hover {
background-color: #CB8E1F;
}
3. Unfortunately the theme doesn’t have an option to add logo image there, you will need custom modification for this and we cannot provide custom work at this moment, sorry!
4. Please follow this solution to display more subcategories in the megamenu – https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/sub-categories-number/#post-48648
5. Unfortunately Newsmag theme has only 2 formats like you already know. If you need to add more post formats please take a look here – https://codex.wordpress.org/Post_Formats and try to add more formats in theme functions: http://screencast.com/t/7tKL3tcQiu
6. Not sure what you mean, please provide more details.
7. You can remove this code – http://screencast.com/t/PXj2Z7pxq3yJ – http://screencast.com/t/8IEfHItJXfv
Or you can hide it via custom css – http://screencast.com/t/zzEfIvhLC
.td_top_authors .td-author-post-count, .td_top_authors .td-author-comments-count {
display: none;
}
8. Unfortunately we did not tested THEIA POST SLIDER or any similar plugin so I cannot recommend any.
Please check this without any plugins active, leave just Visual Composer and THEIA POST SLIDER active, clear cache and see if it works.
Thanks!
Well… looks like some of your images are NOT actually there …
404: http://meteoserwis24.pl/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/15045201-100×65.jpg
The plugin doesn’t “destroy” your thumbnails and images only moves JS to footer and enqueues elements for better page loading.
Suggest:
a) turn off all plugins except visual composer
b) clear server cache; refresh CDN or similar if in use
c) if thumbs not back, use the regenerate thumbnails plugin
My presumption on this is that the shim will be for those folks like us who — for whatever reason — end up with a CPU spike of doom with current versions of Visual Composer running full time if we get upsurge in traffic — like 100x normal. For those without the CPU issue, likely not a big deal. So, this is a solution for that — but *not* a full-on replacement for VC.
From the hints that Radu has made, I think he has it in mind (well the TagDiv team) to come up with possible sideways solution — basically their own version of VC, essentially to not use the VC product at all, but with their own coding since I can imagine there would be some odd licensing issues and they are not the dishonest sort who would reverse engineer VC then bypass WP Bakery folk and use their tech. So, presumably they would come up with their own framework but MUCH “lighter” than how VC does it, where probably 70% of VC stuff isn’t used by most folk (in our case anyway).
Just my impression of where that might go.
I think this “fix” is there for those of us who need it but not a “hey everybody — stop using VC” — which is still needed to build out the layout for home page in first place.
Right now this just takes on the complaint I’ve had the past 18 months with VC, where I’ve often suggested a “design mode” and “deploy mode” … meaning “everything on” for design, then at deploy only use the 20% of stuff you’re actually using. Why load all that crap you don’t need with every load of home page. Kind of like having every option in Bootstrap but only using a quarter of the functions would be dumb. Same idea.
But I ramble ….
working for me so far, and CPU/server happy as a cat in a new blanket with paws full of catnip. Well, I might be exaggerating … 😉
While this should be obvious …. and assuming you already checked all your Yoast settings, but:
be sure to turn OFF the “remove stop words” setting in Yoast SEO as that is known to cause issues since it does in fact change the actual permalink on the page.
May not be related to your issue. But I did notice on at least 2 of our sites with a Yoast plugin upgrade that got switched to “on” by default, which we do not want.
The conflict with Visual Composer and Yoast SEO is an issue not yet resolved by the two plugin makers, apparently which seems to have started after all the XSS patches done to WP and various plugins.

Hi,
Not sure about the accordion shortcode, please provide wp-access so we can check it and send you wp-admin login details via email at contact@tagdiv.com and also provide a link to this conversation.
We are aware of the VC buttons elements issues. This happens as the Visual Composer the classes have changed and the buttons that we haven styled lost their css, we have this on our todo list and we are working on it unfortunately we still have incompatibility issues regarding VC style. Note though that all Visual Composer elements have been restyled in the newspaper theme version 5 and all incompatibility regarding VC elements have been fixed.
You can find a solution for this in this topic: https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/buttons/#post-21804 or use this custom css code in theme panel > custom css section: http://screencast.com/t/SWo34rkap8 – http://pastebin.com/YwyC14Zp
Thanks
Hi,
I see you use an very old theme version (1.7) while the latest version is 4.6.3 now available on themeforest: http://themeforest.net/downloads so you need to change this sign theme’s customizer: http://screencast.com/t/ZIeLRKDWf2q If this cusomtizer isn’t working for you then you would have to update your theme and use the latest version’s features and panel to change the copyright date and text as you like.
To update the theme please follow the theme update guide paste below and make sure you backup your current theme an WordPress installations so you can revert back to them if something goes wrong: https://codex.wordpress.org/WordPress_Backups
Use thew instructions from this guide and update the theme to the latest version: https://forum.tagdiv.com/newspaper-documentation/ – download the latest theme from themeforest: http://themeforest.net/downloads then use the FTP method and remove the old theme files and upload the new ones. After this you’ll or you can use the Visual Composer plugin to build you pages/posts content and layouts: https://forum.tagdiv.com/update-the-visual-composer-plugin-wpbakery/
Make sure you go trough all theme’s documentation here: https://forum.tagdiv.com/newspaper-documentation/
If you don’t want to update the theme then you can change the copyright text and date hard coded and replace the $tds_footer_copyright variable with a string 'Copyright 2022 - your text' like this: http://screencast.com/t/JR6vKdsX – http://screencast.com/t/yE0HIIS2
Thanks
