Thanks Vlad – I’ve changed the ‘Leave a Reply’ message as suggested.

Another couple of issues that you could pass to the developers is the ability to change the ‘Comments are closed.’ message and modify its css.

If you check my post Property sales collapse hits all markets and scroll to the end of the comments and inspect element, you’ll see the problem – there’s no css to change.

I have tried to follow your instructions but the header css gradient menu contains no dropdown menu in my version of the composer (latest version). There is just a blank field. When i fill it with “hidden” there is no change…

I’ve made some further progress:

I’ve included the following in my child theme’s css:

.td-pb-padding-side {font-family: pt serif; font-weight: 700; font-size: 16pt;}

Which should display the ‘Comments are no longer being accepted’ as I want.

However, when I view the post and inspect the element in my web browser, the code:

echo ‘<p class=”td-pb-padding-side”>’ . _etd( ‘COMMENTS ARE NO LONGER BEING ACCEPTED’, TD_THEME_NAME ) . ‘</p>’;

is shown as:

<div class="comment-pagination"> </div>
COMMENTS ARE NO LONGER BEING ACCEPTED
<p class="td-pb-padding-side"></p>

I don’t know how to fix this.

Any thoughts?

Thanks – it seems to be caused by the Leaky Paywall plugin, which causes a lot of problems in Newspaper. So when will Newspaper offer an integrated paywall facility? It seems an important feature for a newspaper site…

Can you tell me if this setting for Leaky Paywall looks correct? Activating ARH prevents one problem with Leaky Paywall (but causes the YouTube squash-up):

Hi Calin – thanks for getting back to me. There are three things I’d like to achieve as shown in the image at https://imgur.com/uUutA2x

1. Change the text ‘LEAVE A REPLY’ to ‘LEAVE A COMMENT’.

2. Change the text ‘Comments are closed’ TO ‘COMMENTS ARE NO LONGER BEING ACCEPTED'(and change the font size to the same as #reply-title – but I can’t find the css?)

3. Include ‘COMMENTS ARE NO LONGER BEING ACCEPTED’ on posts that have no comments when comments have been closed (which I’ve set to 10 days in WP Dashboard/Discussion Settings/Other comment settings.)

I’ve checked my child theme – all is OK.

I’ve copied comments.php from the Newspaper theme directory to my child theme and edited as follows:

Line 78: $defaults[‘title_reply’] = esc_html__(‘LEAVE A COMMENT’, ‘newspaper’);

Line 35: <p class=”td-pb-padding-side”><?php esc_html_e( ‘COMMENTS ARE NO LONGER BEING ACCEPTED’, ‘newspaper’ ) ?></p>

These changes do not work.

(You will note I use a plugin – Advanced Comment Form – that inserts text into comment form. Disabling the plugin doesn’t solve the problem.)
