Hi Guys,
I’m about to perform a 6.7.1 to 7.5 update and I was wondering if you could clarify the following as the best practice?
Prep.
1. full backup.
2. copy custom code from 6.7 child and add it to the 7.5 child files in the code folder.
update.
1. start maintenance mode.
2. delete entire Newspaper and Newspaper child folders
3. FTP the new 7.5 Newspaper and Newspaper Child folders
4. clear cache.
plugins.
1. deactivate and delete VC, then add the new version and activate.
2. td-social-counter and td-speed-booster – Do I overwrite the files with FTP, or do I deactivate, delete and then add new?
3. Add new plugin – td-mobile-plugin and activate – Will this still read CSS code from the child theme?
Finish
1. Take site out of maintenance mode

Concerns and questions-
1. Will my social counter keep its settings? or would I need to re-add all my accounts in the widget?
2. Has the Speed Booster plugin changed since 6.7.1? – is not could I just leave the current one as it is?
3. With the mobile theme active, will all the page content be missing (contact, about, privacy etc.)

When i update 7.4 to 7.5 my site is broken.

First of all, please make a full back-up to your all data from your side to be safe regarding on your content. The latest version of the theme is Newspaper 7.5 which was released today on Envato Market. I’ve searched the forums but can’t seem to change the gradient where I was it in CSS.
I’m trying to alter the gradient on the front page, Block 18:

For example, using this:

background: linear-gradient(to bottom,rgba(238, 62, 62, 0.9) 0%,rgba(238, 62, 62, 0.9) 100%) !important;
}
I alter the gradient in the thumb of block 14, but block 18 remains unaffected.
I think Block 18 is style mx8?, but this still doesn’t work:

I have checked your site and saw that there is a html error in each block . There is an empty paragraph after each thumb. That paragraph is not coming from our theme so it;s probably a customization you made or a plugin conflict. Please check your custom code in the theme panel or your child theme. If you did not update your child theme, please do. This topic explains it better: https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/setting-up-child-theme/
If you need to you can always replace the theme files again if you know there is customization but you are not sure what it is. You can use this guide and choose the ftp method to update: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/

I run a site with seasonal content (i.e., content refreshes every 3-6 months, as opposed to daily or even weekly).
In the Filter Settings, they have a Sort Order > Random Posts (Last 7 Days)
Is there any way I can manually change that in the theme files to make it Random Posts (Last *90* Days), or last 180 Days?

A space appears below my logo and above the Main Nav.
I’ve tried resizing the logo, deleting the logo, deleting all custom CSS, but I can’t seem to get rid of it.

I deleted and then re installed the theme via FTP sucesfully.
But having activated twenty fifteen, I went to themes, in WP, and I can’t enter, it shows me this error:
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected end of file in /home/brunohm/public_html/wp-content/themes/Newspaper/functions.php on line 158
I don’t know what to do.
I can give you access to my WP admin and my C Panel. Because I don’t know, I tried all I can, but I can’t use Newspaper đ

Hello,
It seems you have to delete the newspaper theme from your server using ftp and install it again. Please use this guide and choose the ftp method: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/
FTP is the safest way of updating and replacing theme files. Once you access make sure you delete the entire newspaper folder so there will be no files remaining. Then copy over the new theme files you download from envato. I hope this helps.

I had an very old version, so I began to rebuild the main pages. But in this new version I can’t use visual composer. I can click the icon of it. I try to select an element. But nothing happens. I can’t use colomns etc…

I upgraded theme via ftp but now it says when you open the page: Fatal error: Call to undefined function vc_map_get_attributes() in /home/urbanista.com.tr/httpdocs/wp-content/themes/Newsmag/vc_templates/vc_row.php on line 30
and also it says on admin panel wp booster error: Please update your [tagDiv social counter] Plugin!
but i can’t update it?

You clear the cahe from the cache plugin that you use and purge cd files from the cdn server settings if you use a cdn server. Plugin conflicts can be the cause for such errors or theme customization. We suggest only using the tested plugins: http://screencast.com/t/P7Z75r8deha and try ti restore the theme to it;s default code. Try to re-update even if you have the latest version. Replace the theme files to be sure you remove any modification. Use this method and choose ftp not the wordpress or automatic process: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/

What i want is to show related posts with single post on sidebar. Wanna sort them by tags.
You do it at the widget which is under the post.(related articles widget)
I think it’s not hard to do the same on sidebar too.

As with most custom mods; yes, you need to make them to each version of theme if you upgrade theme.
Just keep list of the files ‘modded’ and then reapply the changes to new version when you do next update, prior to FTP install.
Not terribly painful; but this is the downside to “modifying” code in core files.

I’ve installing through FTP and unfortunately it hasn’t work. The problem remain the same as showed on the pictures i’ve uploaded.
I am a disappointed because I’ve bought the newspaper theme 5 months ago and I could not use it yet.
I’m having dificulties on understand what the problem is, so I can fix it (or pay someone to do it)

I have inspected your website and I saw that you are using an older version of the theme, like as Newspaper 6.6.1. Please keep in mind that our theme has changed a lot until now and if you will have to bring best results you will have to update your theme to the latest version of it (Newspaper 7.4) with come bundled with the latest version of required plugins which is Social Counter 4.1 and Visual Composer 4.12.1. Try to update your theme via FTP because this is the surest method in this regard, according to our documentation here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/install-via-ftp/ , clear all your caches, purge CDN files if you are using the CDN system and check the results. Please keep in mind that our theme is continuously developing and you will have to keep up the theme updatings to bring best results in theme. This type of issue has been resolved in our new updates. Please update your theme.

Please ensure that you are using the latest version of the theme which should have installed via FTP because this is the surest method in this regard. If you are using some untested plugins, please try to disable all of them, leave just Visual Composer (version 4.12.1) to active and install only the plugins that come bundled with our theme and rule out any conflicting plugins. Also, if your problem is still there, please send us an email at contact@tagdiv.com with your log-in information (wp-admin) so we can further inspect it closer your setup page and also, provide there the link to this topic so we can easily identify you.
