Hi,
I can’t say what would cause this issue exactly, I don’t recall seeing it before. But I will investigate it. Please send an email at contact@tagdiv.com and provide a link to the website and admin login. Also I may need access to cPanel or FTP, if you could provide access to this as well it may be helpful.
Let me know and I will check as soon as possible.
Thank you!
Hi,
The new wordpress update is a maintenance update, it contains bug fixes exclusively -> https://wordpress.org/news/2026/07/wordpress-7-0-1-maintenance-release/ There’s no major change that would cause our theme or plugins to create problems. We updated as well and everything looks fine so far -> https://prnt.sc/HsRSL5zcamiH
I believe you are using wordpress 6.7.5 now -> https://prnt.sc/qkLmmAxiLrsr So you used wordpress 7 before and it worked fine, then you updated to 7.0.1 and there were problems, and then you installed 6.7.5? Or you updated from 6.7.5 to 7.0.1? Either way however, the theme should not create any problems.
If you want I can take a look at it. Do you maybe have a testing/staging clone of the main website, where wordpress can be updated and the issue can be investigated? If you have a staging or you can create one, then it’s better to test there instead of the main website which works fine at this time. If this is possible, please send the link to the staging and the login user/pass and contact@tagdiv.com Also please include access to cPanel or FTP.
Thank you!
Hi,
I see there was some work done on the review section a while ago in a previous update. The reason was to fix the case when using the points review type, when users were adding commas instead of periods in the values -> https://prnt.sc/zv18e5RW2iYU This lead to calculation problems for the review.
The fix was to automatically transform the commas to periods, intended just for that points input field specifically. But it seems to apply to all the inputs, including the feature name.
I could provide a quickfix for this issue. Please download this file from here -> https://cdn.tagdiv.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/td_set_post_settings.zip
Unzip it and there will be a PHP file. That file must replace the existing file via this path in the composer -> wp-content\plugins\td-composer\legacy\common\wp_booster\wp-admin\content-metaboxes
If you want I can do it on your website, and I’ll also test to see if the issue is solved. You can send us an email at contact@tagdiv.com and provide a link to the website, admin user and pass, also access to cPanel or FTP.
We are very sorry for this inconvenience.
Thank you!
Hi,
Something must be wrong, it’s not normal for the theme to cause such issues. It will have to be investigated.
I suggest to send us an email at contact@tagdiv.com and provide admin login (user and pass) for the website. Also if you have cPanel, or FTP, or something similar for checking the server settings, files, error logs, please provide access to it as well.
Then I will check as soon as possible to try to find the cause of the issue.
Thank you!
Hi,
That’s very unusual, something must be wrong. I’ve tested the theme activation now, it worked fine.
I will take a look the issue directly on the website. Please send us an email at contact@tagdiv.com and provide a link to your website and admin login (user and pass). Also if possible I may need access to cPanel or FTP, to check the files mentioned in the error.
Let me know and I will check as soon as possible.
Thank you!
Hi,
Unfortunately I don’t quite understand what you mean. I believe I checked both your websites before and they seemed to be functioning correctly.
Please mention more details. What layout are you installing exactly? Were there always such issues?
If there are server errors when using the theme on this website https://westfrieslandpraat.nl/ then I will have to investigate them. In order to do that I will need access to the website and to cPanel or a similar server manager, even FTP would be something so I can check the error logs. Please send access to the website by email at contact@tagdiv.com and I will check and try to find the cause of the problem.
Thank you!
Hi,
Indeed, it looks like the social was added in the theme panel, but the icon for it wasn’t added. It should have been included in the Newsmag icon font.
I could modify it and add the icon in the font file. I modified it and I uploaded it here https://cdn.tagdiv.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/newsmag.zip That file can be downloaded from there, and then it must be uploaded in this folder in the theme -> https://prnt.sc/-Mwc1wnWqVb7
So here wp-content\themes\Newsmag\images\icons
The file that is already there has to be replaced.
The last step is to add this CSS code in the theme Live CSS or in the theme panel custom code:
.td-icon-mastodon:before {
content: "\e93b";
}
So here -> https://prnt.sc/hslEwixh94fl
The result should be that the Mastodon icon is displayed. You could give it a try. Or if you want I can do it, I will need access to the website and to cPanel or FTP, these can be sent by email at contact@tagdiv.com
I’m very sorry for this inconvenience.
Thank you!
Hi,
I’ve seen such an issue before. The solution was to copy the code from the bottom of this guide -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/requirements-for-newspaper/ this one -> https://prnt.sc/VrfXD1L7AeIi and paste it the htaccess file, normally after the existing code. It can be done using the file manager from cPanel, or FTP.
Then the problem should be solved. I suggest trying it.
Or, if you want, I can do it. You can send an email at contact@tagdiv.com and provide admin access to the website and also to cPanel or FTP. I will add the code and test to see if the issue is solved.
Thank you!
Hi,
That’s not normal. I will take a look at it directly on the website. Please send an email at contact@tagdiv.com and provide admin access (user and pass) for the website. I may also need access to cPanel or FTP or something similar. I will check as soon as possible.
Thank you!
Buna,
Pare ciudat din start, nu ar avea ce cauta un functions.php in folderul themes. Acel fisier e normal in folderul temei din folderul themes, de ex:
Aici: www/wp-content/themes/Newspaper/functions.php
S-a rezolvat problema?
O zi buna!
Hi,
This can be done with the Newsmag theme only if you are not using Auto Ads, as those cannot be controlled by the theme.
If you are using banners or standard ads, they will be displayed on any page or template where the Ad Box element is added. So, if you want a specific page or template to have no ads, you’ll need to create it without adding any ad elements.
As mentioned, this approach works only if you are not using Auto Ads.
Also, you can try dedicated plugins for ads, like Advanced Ads or Ad Inserter to set display conditions (Advanced Ads: Go to the edit screen of the page, locate the Ad Settings meta box, and check the option to disable ads. Alternatively, in the plugin settings, set display conditions to “Specific Pages” and choose “is not” to exclude it.)
Google AdSense Auto Ads Exclusio. If you are using Auto Ads, you can exclude specific pages directly through the AdSense dashboard.
– Ads > By site
– Page exclusions > Manage
Click Add exclusion, paste the URL of the page, and select “This page only” or “All pages in this section”.

Hi,
I see, thank you for the details so far. Could you please create a staging environment and provide access to the wp-admin, along with cPanel or FTP credentials for the staging site, so we can investigate the issue?
If possible, please send the access details via email to contact@tagdiv.com. Also, include as many details as you can about the issue, it’s especially helpful to know if you’re using a child theme, any custom code, or additional plugins.
We’ll review everything as soon as possible and determine the cause of the problem, along with the best solution.
Thank you!
Hi,
First, please make sure that the theme plugins have not been modified. To do this, go to Plugins and delete all currently enabled TagDiv plugins. Then go to Newspaper → Plugins and reinstall the plugins you just removed. This will ensure you are using the correct versions and that no changes have been made to them.
Next, test the website using only the TagDiv plugins to see if the issue persists. In some cases, another plugin may be interfering with the theme.
If the problem still occurs, please contact us via email at contact@tagdiv.com and provide access to your wp-admin as well as cPanel or FTP. We will check the issue as soon as possible.
Thank you!
Hi,
As far as we can determine, there is no bug in the theme related to this behavior.
Please create a full backup of your website and then contact us at contact@tagdiv.com, providing your wp-admin and cPanel or FTP access details. Our team will investigate the issue as soon as possible.
Thank you!
Hello tagDiv Support,
I need help with a serious issue that started after updating Newspaper. I have spent hours troubleshooting this and I want to give you a clear, detailed summary so you can understand exactly what is happening.
My site:
MarryCaribbean.com
Theme:
Newspaper
Problem summary:
After the update, my single post pages began crashing and showing the WordPress critical error message. At the same time, several layout behaviors changed unexpectedly, including my post hero styling and category/archive display.
Here is what I observed and tested.
1. Single posts started failing after the Newspaper update
Before the update, my single posts were working normally.
After the update:
* Single post pages began showing “There has been a critical error on this website.”
* This was happening under Newspaper, while the site worked under a default WordPress theme.
* Category pages and other parts of the site were not failing in the same way at first, which made this look specific to the Newspaper single post rendering path.
2. Debugging pointed to td-composer
I enabled WordPress debug logging and found fatal errors pointing to td-composer, specifically memory exhaustion in this path:
/wp-content/plugins/td-composer/legacy/common/wp_booster/td_util.php
I also saw repeated notices for translation loading from other plugins, but those did not appear to be the main cause of the front-end post failure.
The key fatal I saw was memory exhaustion inside td-composer.
3. Default WordPress theme worked
To isolate the issue, I temporarily switched to a default WordPress theme.
Result:
* The single posts loaded
* The content itself was fine
* This suggested the problem was not with WordPress core or the post content itself, but with Newspaper/tagDiv rendering
4. Backup restore did not solve the issue
I restored a backup using UpdraftPlus, including:
Database
Plugins
Themes
However, this did not restore the previous Newspaper behavior on its own. The single post issue remained. What actually made individual posts load again was manually opening them and explicitly selecting a post template such as FROM PANEL or DEFAULT and then updating the post.
5. tagDiv Composer / Cloud Library behavior was inconsistent
After the restore:
* tagDiv Composer and tagDiv Cloud Library had to be reactivated
* Header/footer/custom appearance behavior changed depending on whether these plugins were active
* At one stage, single posts worked with Composer off, but the custom header/footer/design was degraded
* With Composer on, other design pieces came back, but single post behavior was still unstable or altered
6. The biggest discovery: post template behavior changed
This appears to be the most important clue.
I found that many posts would work again only after I manually opened the post and explicitly selected a post template, for example:
* FROM PANEL
or
* DEFAULT
If I manually selected one of those and updated the post, the post would usually load again.
This strongly suggests the update changed or broke how post template settings were being inherited or interpreted.
What is especially concerning is that this appears to affect many posts, not just one or two.
7. “From Panel” is not consistently broken, but behavior changed
I originally thought FROM PANEL itself was broken, but after more testing I found:
* Some posts work on FROM PANEL
* Some posts work on DEFAULT
* Some posts needed to be manually touched and saved before they would work at all
So the issue does not seem to be as simple as “FROM PANEL is broken.”
It feels more like the update disrupted how template/layout assignments are being inherited or loaded on a per-post basis.
8. My hero/header layout on single posts changed
Even after I got the posts loading again, the visual layout is not what it was before.
Before:
* My post hero had a stronger designed look
* The title, author, tags, and hero image styling appeared more integrated/overlaid
* There was more of a styled hero presentation
Now:
* The posts may load, but the hero/header presentation is simplified or degraded
* The featured image sits more plainly
* The old styled hero treatment appears to be missing
So even when the post works, the layout is not the same as before the update.
9. Article Display View options appear to be missing
In the Theme Panel, under areas where I remember having many layout/style choices, the “Article Display View” area appears blank or missing its usual options.
I specifically remember having many appearance/layout choices there before. Now those options do not appear to load properly.
This makes me think some template/module UI in Newspaper is no longer loading correctly after the update.
10. Category/archive behavior also changed
After the update:
* My category/archive sections changed layout
* I had 3 items per row before, but now it is showing 2
* I also started seeing little comment count boxes with “0”, which I never wanted and did not have before
I checked Block Settings and global module meta settings. Show Comment Count appears to be off globally, but the archive/category output is still not matching what I had before.
This makes it seem like the archive/module style or template behavior changed during the update as well.
11. Cloud Templates screen appears empty
In Cloud Templates, I currently do not see cloud templates assigned in the way I expected. For example, the Single Templates area appears empty.
That is confusing because I know my site had a more customized appearance before, and the current theme behavior no longer matches it.
12. Main concern
My biggest concern is that this update appears to have:
* broken or altered post template inheritance
* changed single post rendering behavior
* removed or failed to load layout options I previously had
* changed archive/category display unexpectedly
On a larger site, this kind of behavior is extremely disruptive because it can force manual repair of many posts.
What I need from you:
1. Help identifying exactly what changed in Newspaper that caused single post template behavior to break or stop inheriting correctly
2. Help restoring the original post hero/layout behavior I had before the update
3. Help restoring the archive/category display so it matches the previous layout
4. Help understanding why the Article Display View choices appear missing/blank
5. Guidance on whether this is a known issue in the current version and whether there is a patch or recommended fix
I would appreciate a serious look at this, because this has taken a lot of time to troubleshoot and it clearly appears connected to the Newspaper/tagDiv update path rather than WordPress itself.
Thank you,
MarryCaribbean.com
Hi nuevo116, if you can make a backup and contact us via email at contact@tagdiv.com and provide wp-admin and cPanel or FTP access. We’ll take a look and see what could be the problem, it is possible to be a conflict between plugins or with some option from the plugin.
Hi guys,
I’ve just updated Newspaper to v12.7.5, and I’m hitting a wall with the tagDiv Opt-In Builder. The update fails consistently through the Theme Panel.
I’ve already gone through the “manual update” ritual as described in your documentation (https://forum.tagdiv.com/newspaper-how-to-update-a-plugin/), but no luck. While the plugin installs, it refuses to activate. WordPress throws a Fatal Error every time I try to toggle it on.
What I’ve tried so far:
Manual update via FTP/Plugin upload.
Complete removal of the plugin folder via FTP followed by a clean install.
Downgrading the theme to the previous version (the issue persists).
I’m currently stuck with a broken opt-in system. Could you please look into this or provide a fix for this specific version conflict?
Thanks.
Thank you so much. There seems a lot of errors. Perhaps because I uninstalled and installed again twice due to my Issue with Google who restricted my site URL (Perhaps the errors caused by the installing of too many plugins and Ad codes place incorrectly…) hours before I sent you a message for help, I had disabled your Theme and some plugins via SFTP FileZilla (During restriction, not allowed to access normally that’s why… After that, I cleared files, Caches… And reinstall Your Newspaper Theme and plugins… I didn’t check widget before the disabling of the Theme… But after reinstalling, I checked the widget and it was locked, grey out and when I tried to edit Theme with the TD editor, I couldn’t scroll down the whole theme (stick at half of the theme)… Is this error? Also I watched all the video tutorials on your web page and Youtube still cannot find a way to show Header Ad on Mobile and 2 more ads placement on homepage do not show up or I can’t find where to place them in Theme panel… If you scroll down on my home page realspill.news you will see no ads pop up ( I can’t find how to place ads on those placement)…. Sorry for this long complicated response.
I haven’t installed tagDiv Mobile Theme plugin yet… I wanted a Header Ad showing on Mobile devices. So do I need to install this tagDiv Mobile Theme plugin or not?
I was getting stuck the whole night.
Thank you for guiding me
Hi,
Unfortunately, in your situation, it won’t be easy, and most likely you’ll need a developer to update the theme from the old version you are using to the latest version, 12.7.4.
Normally, you should update both the theme and the theme plugins. In your case, you need to install the following plugins: tagDiv Composer and tagDiv Standard Pack. If you are using any other theme plugins, those also need to be installed or updated. This can be done from Newspaper > Plugins.
When the theme is updated, it will be replaced with the new version, so all changes made directly to the theme files will be removed. If a child theme is used, it should be disabled and updated to the latest child theme version provided in the theme package from ThemeForest.
If you would like one of our developers to update the theme for you, please contact us at services@tagdiv.com and provide FTP and WP-Admin access. One of our developers will check your setup and let you know if we can help and how much it will cost.
Thank you!
Hi,
This warning can appear when debug mode is enabled in your wp-config.php file. Please check if the WP_DEBUG option is set to true. If it is, change it to false and see if the warning disappears.
If the problem persists, please make a full backup of your site and contact us via email at contact@tagdiv.com . When you do, please provide: WP-admin access, FTP or cPanel access. Include the details from this topic. We will investigate the issue as soon as possible.
Based on what you’ve described, it’s possible that the issue is caused by a mismatch between values, one being numeric and another not, which could be causing a sum operation to fail.
Hi,
If the debug option is set to false and you have also added the YouTube API key in the Theme Panel, but the message continues to appear, please proceed as follows:
Make a full backup of your website.
Contact us by email at contact@tagdiv.com
In your email, please provide:
– wp-admin access
– cPanel or FTP access
This will allow us to further investigate the issue.
Please also include a link to this topic in your email so we can identify your case more quickly.
Thank you!
Hi, thanks so much for your help. Basically, the plugin should show the map and, by selecting one of the hotspots, display the corresponding list underneath. Currently, however, it shows the map twice (without the hotspot) and all the lists are visible one after the other.
Using the DETECTIVE plugin, I discovered that the plugin causing the error is “TagDiv Composer.” Without that plugin, everything works, but as soon as I enable it, the map stops working.
I made a short video to show how it behaves now and how it should work: https://somup.com/cOVD6FSvPj
Thanks for your help, I hope you can figure out what’s bothering the plugin.
P.S.
Of course, I can provide my WordPress and FTP credentials if needed.
Thanks again

Too bad, I wanted to use your template for other sites too but at this point it won’t be possible

Hi,
That method normally should work, but if is not, please try the method I mentioned, delete the plugins and reinstall them from Newsapper > plugins – https://i.imgur.com/wYk6ELT.png
IN case it is still not working, please contact us via email at contact@tagdiv.com, provide wp-admin access and FTP, and we’ll further investigate it.
