Dear Christopher,
You are helping me a lot. Many thanks for that.
Unfortunately i haven’t got a solution for the problem.
I managed to upload the theme via another domain wp dashboard. It worked. But i haven’t activated it. cos i don’t want to put it there. Newspaper theme is meant for another domain.
I tried to upload it via ftp. i put the file in public_html [wp-content/teheme]. when i try to go live, i see nothing.
i cant access or create wp login. http://www.awashpost.com/wp-admin.php returns 403 error.
i also tried http://www.awashpost.com/public_html… i get nowhere.
Can you plz solve this mystery? I want to know how to get to wp login so that i can upload the theme from there.
Thank you so much.
Nesru
FileZilla is an FTP tool. If that is not working, there might be something wrong with your settings if you need to use a different FTP tool. Uploading plugins to your wp-content/plugins folder should not impact any other plugins. You should likely check *ownership* permissions of all your WordPress directories via your filamanager in your hosting account to whether something might be “owned” by Apache vs the “FTP user” account. This can be fixed by having your hosting provider change those via command line to fix it.
I did everything manually and my site is up and running now but with a number of problems.
1) The theme would not upload through wordpress, it would also not upload through filezilla, so I did it manually in my FTP.
2) When the theme was uploaded through my ftp i tried uploading the plugins through wordpress, I got the same errors, so I uploaded the included theme plugins through my ftp. However now none of my plugins can be updated, also I am running my theme with all the plugins deactivated because the plugins are breaking the theme, that includes the plugins that were included in the theme, as soon as I activate tagdiv speed booster the site looses all CSS. I am running the theme without the plugins because I have a very popular site with 20,000 visitors a day and cannot afford to have the site down any longer. I also went in and deleted all my old theme files from my ftp, thinking that somewhere they were conflicting with the new theme, but this made no difference.
The site is now significantly slower, with my previous theme I had a speed of 98 and now site speed is 37.
Could you let me know where I can send you login details so I can have you look at it. I need this resolved as soon as possible. I love the theme and would hate to have to switch back to my old theme. I never had any of these issues on my site before with my old theme.

Christopher, thank you for your help over the weekend, learnt a hard lesson about using shortcodes, had to manually change them all which is why I wasn’t on here lol…what a pain that was.

Well….
1) make sure your folder has writable permissions (like 755)
2) make sure you upload the correct folder – obviously you just want the theme folder, and NOT the big archive with all the docs, psd files, plugins, etc.
3) make sure you have enough space on your hosting account
4) try simply creating a folder called Newspaper in the wp-content/themes folder via FTP — if you can’t do that then it’s definitely a permissions issue
Hi,
Could you please give wp-access and also FTP access so we can check this? Please send your wp-admin and FTP login credentials to contact@tagdiv.com and also specify your issues details or send a link to this topic.
Thanks
Hi,
Please make sure that you do this right and install/update the theme using this guide: https://forum.tagdiv.com/installation/ If this is the first time you install the theme and you don’t have any settings you can remove theme files and then re-upload them again via FTP to prevent overwriting. If you want to update it please make a backup first.
Please let me know if this helps!
Thanks
Hi,
If you update it using a patch or overwriting the files via FTP should not affect the CTP template as it will not be overwritten.
Thanks
This is an issue with your WordPress install, not a theme issue.
You likely need to check your wp-config.php file and make sure it’s correct; also check your .htaccess file. Make sure you turn off any caching used by your hosting account.
Assuming your wp-config.php file and .htaccess file were not compromised or broken somehow and don’t need to be restored from your backup (you are making backups, right?)
Try
1) remove the theme folder via ftp or hosting filemanager
2) login to your admin, choose default theme (e.g., twenty fourteen)
3) make sure you do download/export of your site dbase for extra backup (unless it’s a new test site)
4) resave your permalinks just because that can reset things
5) again, clear ALL your caching; if using a plugin, or CDN, and in browser
6) upload theme correctly via FTP
7) upload the plugins which come with the theme via FTP
8) login to your admin panel again, activate only the visual composer plugin
9) activate the theme

Thank you
Now I have version 4.5, but still I am not able to achieve what I wanted to. Can you please look into it. I hope you already have my FTP details. let me know if you want it once again.
Looks like the CSS isn’t loading for your site. Be sure to possibly upload the theme via FTP to ensure all the files are actually up on the server. I personally have a lot of problems with *all* themes installing via ZIP method. FTP ensures all files are uploaded individually from your hard drive to your website. I don’t use child theme, so generally best to start with activating the MAIN version of the theme.
If using any caching — including in your web browser — you may have the old style.css “cached” and so not loading the new styles in your browser.
Hi,
Thanks Christopher!
@BobbieSeacrist Please make sure you install the theme right as this should not happen, please follow this guide and upload the theme files via FTP: https://forum.tagdiv.com/installation/
Please let me know if this is still happening!
Thanks
Might be due to uploading the wrong zip file — meaning, there is zip with just the theme, and there is zip with all the docs, psd file, etc. — using the ‘big’ file it won’t work. But I don’t think it gives that error.
Typically turning off all plugins when activating theme, but making sure you clear all caches, and CDN elements before activation makes the difference. I personally also usually do the ‘preview’ of a theme before activation, just to see if it’s borked or not.
Often uploading manually via FTP, is good option, too, to ensure the right files get up there and completed.
That might not help, just food for thought 🙂
All other icons will load on the page, the placeholder will load, but when you go to a category page it won’t. I’ve even changed the image through ftp to another and it doesn’t work. When trying to see the image I get an error 404

Any ideas?
Hi,
Thanks Christopher!
@koch Please also make sure that you have active only the Visual Composer plugin as this may happen due to a plugin conflict.
If this still dose not work please send us you FTP and wp-admin login credentials so we can check this, please also state your issue s detail or send an URL to this topic.
Thanks
I can provide access to the administration panel and FTP access to the site. if necessary.
Well, since something is missing from the visual composer plugin folder; I’d likely try uploading manually via FTP, since if something isn’t “all there” (sometimes happens if trying to auto install the plugin via the theme or WordPress panel). I always do this myself since I always trace these kinds of gremlins to a missing or corrupt file from unzipping on the server. Betcha it will work … as there is not anything wrong with version of VC included with v4.5 of theme; unless the zip file or install goes awry.
Hi,
Please make sure that you have WordPress installed in your language: http://codex.wordpress.org/WordPress_in_Your_Language
After you set WordPress in your language upload the theme. You can connect via FTP and remove it from themes folder then upload it again or do it using WordPress panel: https://forum.tagdiv.com/installation/
Also please make sure that you make a backup of your current installation and if something goes wrong you can revert back to it.
Please let me now if this helps!
Thanks
@nightwing2303
If you do all this and still get an error please make sure you unzip the file and upload the theme folder manually via FTP, like this: https://forum.tagdiv.com/installation/
Thanks
Hello Rhino99
This issue is simple to fix.
When you download the copy of newspaper theme from themeforest as below shown hierarchy
– child-theme
– documentation
– Licensing
– licesing
– patch_4.4_4.5
– plugins
– psd
– changed_files_4.4_4.5
– Newspaper <============= You have to extract this and upload via FTP to themes folder
– update_log
