Hi,

The theme thumbnail sizes are defined in this file
https://www.screencast.com/t/A3wBGyFtCR
You can add more if that is what you want
https://forum.tagdiv.com/td_api_thumbadd/
Regenerate thumbnails after doing this, so the custom sizes will be created

Thanks

Hi Simion.

I dont want use joost de walk’s plugin anymore – its unsupported, rubbish, causing lost of buggy crosslinks in the wp-database – and very hard to clean off from the database once you activated..

I use the much better plugin WPSSO.

But, my question still about : – how may I can set more sizes if using tagdiv newspaper theme?

If I put my requested sizes in the wp-settings – media sizes screen – it not makes any change, since tagdiv takes over the control of media sizes.
Also, same applies when I put directly the code into the function.php.

Which files I have to edit to add the xtra sizes?

add_image_size( ‘new-custom-size’, width, height, crop mode );

Thank you,

Zoltan

Hi,

The thumbnails will be created and displayed as long as the posts have featured or videos set
https://forum.tagdiv.com/featured-image-or-video/
https://forum.tagdiv.com/thumbnails-vs-featured-image-size/
Also the thumbnail sizes have to be enabled in the theme panel
https://forum.tagdiv.com/theme-thumbs/
So all you have to do is set an image as featured and the thumbnails will be created and displayed automatically.

Thanks

Hi,

I’ve got the request from the magazine authors, and the page owner – to make available more picture thumb sizes.

That is because when someone shares the posts, it shows the wrongly cropped/cutted/chopped off picture or not the proper one.

Share on fb — “head cut off” –
https://www.1000wordsmagazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/wrong-cutting.jpg
Same on Google Plus —
https://www.1000wordsmagazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/wrong-cropping-share-gplus.jpg
Pinterest would acceptable, however can be better if used the proper sizes, which is 800×1600

So, I would ask: how to make it available create more sizes for all media – of course after need the thumbs-regeneration.

600×600
600×315
960×960
800×1600

and – tell to wordpress to give the right picture to the sharing-engine no matter which installed and used ( tagdiv, shareaholic, addthis, socioboards, oneall, custom made, etc, etc )

I tried to saerch after read this post: https://premium.wpmudev.org/blog/adding-custom-images-sizes-wordpress/

But, no luck.

Thanks, Zoltan

@ Catalin – Is correct Chris S affirmation?:

You can disable three of the images create by WordPress by going to admin > media > and then setting all the sizes to ‘0’ … these three sizes made by WP, not the theme.

1. So, if I set from Settings -> Media all to 0 (zero) this will not create extra thumbnails?
2. And when create posts with Newspaper the theme have his builtin cropping feature?

Hi,

The thumb sizes cannot be modified through a theme option, these are predefined for each module and also have a predefined cropping
https://forum.tagdiv.com/featured-image/
https://forum.tagdiv.com/theme-thumbs/
https://forum.tagdiv.com/thumbnails-vs-featured-image-size/
The created thumbnails may produce different results using different modules, because of their aspect ratio and the thumbnail size used by the modules.

If you cannot use any of the available blocks and grids, and you want to modify some thumbnail sizes in the theme or the cropping, this could only be done like this through code
https://forum.tagdiv.com/api-thumbnail-introduction/

Thanks

I have changed every font in the Newspaper Theme panel and managed to change it in certain areas like the menus, blog titles and text etc. However, I CANNOT change the font style using TagDiv Composer for the rest of my elements under the Multi Purpose short-codes (text with image, Icon box, inline text etc). How can I change the font in these other areas?

Hi,
I have gone through number of threads about number of thumbs being created by NewsMag and Newspaper theme and everywhere the staff member tells that to turn off the thumbs from the block setting area. Well this is one solution but even if i have turned on 5 thumb sizes the theme will create 5 variants of each image. The situation gets worse when i have multiple images in my post. Theme will create 5 thumbs for each image in the post. If i upload 10 images in my post for some reason, it will create 50 thumbs. Is it a good solution???? can’t you people just put a code or restrict theme from making/generating thumbnails for the images inside post but the feature image? Why the theme generates all these thumbs for images other than the “feature” image of the post? What is the use? I think a little fixing of code will resolve the problem.

Hi there,

As you can see, the little horizontal white box that appears on initial scroll and then, once my thumb leaves the screen, the background image resizes

Hi there,

My featured images seem to show up in varying sizes. Is there a way to make their size universal?

Thank you,
Jeff

I checked it on my iPhone (other phone) and it had the same problem. What happens is that if you scroll right to the top of the screen and then scroll down the background image resizes for a second showing a momentary white horizontal patch on the bottom of the background image.

I installed the mobile theme and it seems to work well. Unfortunately, it wants to use 741 x 486 images, which are used nowhere else. My news site has 25,500 images, and I have 12 sizes turned on because of the blocks and styles I use. So now, just to fer two top of page images on mobile, using the plugin means I have to allow the 741 x 486 size and I have to regenerate 25,500 images and pass them through ShortPixel so they are optimized.

Why can’t mobile theme use 696x 385, the same as Slider2 ?
By the way, although this size is listed in the Theme Panel, it doesn’t say the mobile theme needs this.
Could you make this sizing based on the sizes in use, or allow it to be set in the Theme Panel, or, What about making this the size of a mobile phone? What mobile phones are 741 px wide? not mine!

Hi,

I have a few examples where I can’t seem to change the text’s font style and size. Mostly with titles. I’m checking with “whatfont” extension to make sure, and there’s very surprising settings that have never been set by me in the backend. Also cleared cache in shop and did control + F5.

I basically have 2 fonts that I want to use: PT Sans (in titles) and Georgia (in body). I checked the font setting repeatedly in backend to no avail.

Issues:

– Blog Article titles (posts are working well tho)
– In composer (on homepage specifically): homepage blog post, image blocks TITLE incorrect
– In backend text editor (when writing posts) I see old settings, not the font I see in the frontend
– Footer social media text (open sans?)
– in category pages (ex. https://www.dimitrovadam.hu/elet-tudas/): the category body text, article titles (with thumbnail, and in the list below the thumnbails too)

Apart from this the only issue I have is that in 1) Mozilla 2) Chrome incognito mode the logo disappears from the menu, and only the top menu appears. Sometimes it appears.

Hi there,

RE. https://www.syrupbee.com/

When viewing my website from my Android Motorola Phone that uses the Google Chrome app, the colourful background image jumps when scrolling down from the top of the page. Once it jumps (a white box appears at the bottom of the screen then it resizes the photo) it then works as it should and stays fixed & static as you scroll down.

Is there any way to stop it from jumping at all?

Chris

If none of the image sizes and positioning fit your style, then please use another element instead. You can try to implement an image inside a text box or try another image element as there are others to choose from: https://www.screencast.com/t/E3ON773WaUS

Thanks.

Hi, im changing the website layout and hanving issues whit the thumb sizes.

At first, I set a row whith 3 colunms, 1/3 + 1/3 + 1/3, and set 3 block 15 to show 6 posts each.

Like this: https://imgur.com/rp0CvZI

I need to change to 2 colunms, 1/3 + 2/3, but, when i did this, and set the second block to show 12 images, the thumbs becomes bigger, even if i set to show less posts. For example: https://imgur.com/eIuTYn4

How i set the thumb sizes to keep the same size, like the first block at 1/3 space?

Thanks

Hello,

I want to reduce the number of thumbnail sizes for my website, so I was wondering if it ’s possible to disable the live search thumbnail (80×60) and set it to use the 100×70 thumbnail instead (which is also used elsewhere), even if it scales down the image in live search to 80×60.

Thanks in advance.

We are using your theme with specific appearences that wont change in the future.

How we can recognize which image sizes are not being used and which are still being generated even if they are not usefull?
Also, how to prevent those from being created, after getting them recognized?

Hi,

1. That would be the demo header ad, it can be replaced with your own ads in the theme panel ads section
https://www.screencast.com/t/Th0h0Snzd4
Or simply replace the demo image and set the link you want in the demo ad code
https://www.screencast.com/t/ynUvB1yK
More about it here – https://forum.tagdiv.com/using-other-ads-non-adsense-ads/

2. Enter the ad code as provided (like Adsense for example )in the ad section you want. If you do not use Adsense but a different ad implementation, the same applies. If the ad code is valid it will be displayed (in some cases additional steps have to be taken, follow ad provider instructions).

3. The sizes of Big grids are fixed, they will always look the same. There are 10 Full big grids that can be used for full width
https://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/full-big-grid-1/
Also blocks have predefined design, however the rows in which they are placed can be stretched and they will adapt
https://www.screencast.com/t/n7MpHTGdFB

4. Regardless of image size used for featured images, the theme will create thumbnails from them. These thumbnails will be loaded, not the full image. Still there are methods to optimize the thumbnails, see point 3 in this guide for example
https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-make-the-site-faster/

Thanks

Hi,

You can inspect the live demo, see what image sizes are used there. For example this post featured image
