It seems to me like this theme just grabs the full size for any image. Even small images in sidebars that should definitely be using thumbnail sizes are using a full-sized image. Am I missing something?

Good morning, I have these two problems at http://www.huelvaya.es:
1) My old wordpress theme used a preview image size of 50×50 and this new theme I bought from you uses 150×150. I have installed several plugins to regenerate previews but in the home it keeps showing me the 50×50.jpg
When I change the default sizes, the new images do fit me well, but the old ones continue to be kept from the url 50×50.jpg instead of 150×150.jpg
2) When I enter wordpress I always get a TagDiv banner at the top that says “Bespoke Web Development & Design Services”, how can I remove it?
We ran into this on one of our sites which went all the way back to WP 1.6 (!). We had so many photos, it was impossible to download site via FTP. So, what we did was, make zip backup of size via server panel. Then we set the thumbnail settings in the main WP media panel to 0 for the sub-sizes. Then we turned off any sizes not being used in the theme itself and killed couple redundant sizes. Then we used the regenerate thumbnail plugin to basically kill all the existing thumbs, and regenerate only those we had setup moving forward. So, we ended up with about 5 per story, vs nine or more. That took overnight to run, but wow, killed about 100,000 image files! Your mileage may vary.

My website has grown to the total number of almost 44000 of files.
I would be grateful for some tips how to reduce this number, as I will soon reach the limit set by the hosting provider.
There are around 1300 posts on the website, typically with one illustration/image per post.
I understand that the images are multiplied and resized to fit into different page templates, but even with 10 resizes per photo, it would still be far below 44k files.
Is there any cache that I could delete? Backup copies? A plugin that I could run?

Summary of my post below is that galleries with only two images are rendering on desktop browsers with either too much white space or the image sizes aren’t what I want.
So here is a test page i created:

Note: all of the galleries look good on mobile.
However, the main issue is viewing galleries with two images on desktop. At the link above all three of the “two images galleries” at the top don’t render in an aesthetically pleasing way:
Attachment, 2, Thumbnail, Default – too much white space
Attachment 2, Medium, Default – too much white space
Attachment 2, Medium, Large – images are too large
Once i start using galleries that have three or more images, everything looks good on desktop and mobile from then on.
My question is if it is possible to make adjustments to the two image galleries above. IDEALLY, the images would be centered with some determinable white space between.
I want to see why newsmag does this, as you can see what pagepeed says:

Hi – We have noticed that the images in our tagDiv galleries are stretched in the carousel view but look fine when clicked on to expand. We have checked sizes, all are set to full. A sample post to view would be here and scroll down a bit for the gallery. Screenshot is here. Images tend to look good when logged in, but regular users on all browsers see the stretched versions. I’ve checked all the other forum posts related to stretched images but they seem to focus on images not being set properly to stretch to the full size of the container. Would appreciate any suggestions. Thank you!

First-time Newspaper theme user for WordPress. Loving the customizer and theme panel settings so far, but I’m running into a problem with regards to setting/uploading the logo, favicon or other images.
Whenever I select an image to be placed in any of these places through the theme panel or through the composer, they don’t show up. The preview remains empty. I’ve tried to use images that have the exact recommended sizes as well as other sizes.
When I load a template header (e.g. Romania News Pro) the default logo of the template loads, but the image can’t be changed.
The same goes for an image block. When trying to load a static image into them, the image isn’t loaded.
Additional information:
– WordPress 6.1.1
– Tried with Newspaper 12.0 and 12.2
– Running on a local Docker instance for local development. I made a copy of our live website that has several hundred posts already and I’m tasked with applying a new theme on it. So it contains a whole library of images already. All of them work and load through the default WordPress media library.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Let me know if there’s a log file of some sorts that can be retrieved.

Thank you for the info. I’ve uploaded new images from the media menu and now the theme registers & resizes for those missing two sizes. Cool!
One problem that still persists however though (for the mobile theme), is that when I check the mobile site on Page Speed Insights, the image size alt-tags are properly written as 265×198, but the image src is the 485×360 version. I read most of the posts about the Properly Resize Images on Mobile theme issue and still get the error on the google Page Speed Insights page.
Steps to reproduce:
1. I have disabled and then enabled *all* the sizes for thumbnails (and retinas) from the block settings: https://app.screencast.com/uGvyElTKwkycF
2. I cleared the caches.
3. I then regenerated all the thumbnails using the “regenerate thumbnails” plugin, BUT, apparently 265 X 198 and 741 X 486 sizes are not registered, thus not regenerated: https://app.screencast.com/atOIPpPQCsq3J
4. Anyway, I still clear the server caches just in case.

Don’t you think it’s a stupid feature to copy an image multiple times and upload it to the server? I will upload one image once and use them in different sizes. I bought your theme. And this stupid feature is loading up my server storage. Take an appropriate measure of it. If not, I will be forced to make a review video against this theme and upload it on social media. I am also a YouTuber.
This stupid feature loaded 20 GB of storage in just 1 year. 4,227 news items have been posted in the last 1 year. And 6 thousand of pictures have been used in it. Each file size is kept under approximately 100 KB. If calculated 6000×100 = 600000KB or 600MB of storage to be loaded. If all the other applications use 1 GB of storage, even then that much storage does not run out in 1 year. An image duplicated multiple times filling up 20 GB of storage is not acceptable.

Each thumb that you have enabled will create a copy for that image, so you can disable the thumbs that are not used

We’ve been using the Newspaper theme for over 1 year and it’s proven a highly valuable resource. Nevertheless, while we’ve read your documentation on the topic, but it’s not totally clear to us how the theme works regarding images.
Context:
We are a news website and we usually upload photos from Instagram or screenshots from YouTube in FHD. We’re running your lightbox and the gallery is set this way. Link to: Media File. Image Size: medium.
Our Goal with the Newspaper theme for this action:
We’re trying to delete some of the thumbnails generated by the Newspaper theme because these take up serious space (we’re close to filling up our server capacity regarding sheer size and file count, and we’re not using the majority of them in the first place—more on this below).
Details:
Until recently, all the ticks were On in Theme panel>Block Settings>Thumbs on Modules/Blocks. But our website only really uses 696×0, so we’ve just switched all of them Off and left only that On.
The problem is with all the news stories written until the said recent change. Many unnecessary crops (for our implementation) were created for these and we’re trying to establish which ones to delete from the server and which to keep for properly displaying the stories.
Here’s Example One.
The issue is that the thumbnails generated are come in more sizes than required: (300×0, 696×0, 0x420). At least for us on Firefox (on Chrome they seem to work fine, display a single size, namely 696×0). One of these isn’t even meant for galleries.
And, on top of this, the editor and the thumbnails are like this (it’s a default wordpress size):

Here’s Example Two, for the first image in the gallery (porsche-panamera-rear2.jpg)
If we look in the server, there are over 20 crops generated for the original image, as follows:

This behavior is replicated with all other images (the number of crops per original image—as found on the server—usually varies between 22 and 24 and not 100% of the specific sizes are the same for the various images, even though many are common).
Conclusion (we need your assistance):
-What crops should we delete?
-Can you please explain how the NewsPaper theme works in terms of generating these crops and serving them to the users? This should help us establish the crops we can delete and the ones to keep.
