Update:

I installed the theme in my localhost/development website and tried it vanilla (no plugins etc) except only with Wp-Visual Composer. Still the tabs are broken. Please update immediately.

It was because I activated the child theme first! If you have this problem activate original one, install, then child

Attention: If you are using tabs, I wouldn’t recommend to install this update! I’ve wasted all my night because of this.

To update to v 3.7 please follow this steps

Upload the new theme or the patch over your existing theme.
Please make sure to delete the /newspaper/wpbakery folder from after you update the theme.
Install the required pagebuilder plugin

On your Dashboard the theme will require to install WPBakery Visual Composer plugin. Click on Begin installing plugin

After overwriting the Theme directory and deleting the /wpbakery there is no hint in the backend to install the plugin.

Is there an manual way to do it?

If you are working with a child theme, deactivate it before attempting to install Visual Composer (activate Newspaper parent theme).

After installing the theme for the first time I run into several issues (mainly customizations) and used the search function in this forum a lot.

I could save myself and the newspaper-team a lot of time – because you already answered several questions.

You need to install VC as a stand alone plugin now.

the authors are registered in wordpress not in our theme.
however how stupid this may sound you need to install a plugin too add a pictures for authors : https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-user-avatar/ (how stupid is this?)

for your second question, modify the code :

this pre-supposes that the user knows how to actually find the plugin to begin with. So, might be worth noting WHERE that actually is in the zip package.

Actually, a “recommended” and “included” plugins list might be useful, especially since, for example, for those of us who upgraded from v2 to v3 — what of those original plugins are still needed? Is the animated GIF plugin still needed? It’s not included with v3, so not sure?

This might be also useful since you’re now going to break out the visual composer as plugin.

After installing the theme it suggested me to install only Animated Gif resize, Contact Form 7, TD Speed Booster and TD social Counter plugins.

There wasn’t any suggestions to install Revolution Slider plugin..

if you installed wordpress 3.9, we also found some bugs (like shortcodes from post doesn’t work, the text in text editor is white).

shorcodes are not visible in wordpress 3.9, we hope to have a fix for this in the next update.

revolution slider in available for installing after you have installed the theme (take a look at the top of the page, the theme will ask you to install it)

do you have any plugins installed? if yes, please try to disable or remove them and try again.

also, can you please install the theme on your computer (no pluggings) and change the colors and the logo? see if it duos the same.
