The featured image is not being scaled down to 300 px width when displayed in the post view.
This is for post settings > when using style 1 (image in the left top corners).

This results in not optimized images, e.g.
https://www.photoworkout.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/pictorem-1-696×464.jpg is resized in HTML or CSS from 696×464 to 300×200. Serving a scaled image could save 35.0KiB (81% reduction).

See content example post: https://www.photoworkout.com/pictorem-canvas-review/

How can I serve the image at 300×200?

Hello, I run a very busy website and I want to disable post_views_count completely to optimize mysql speed.

I have SHOW POST VIEWS disabled in the theme Post Setting options, but I still see queries running wioth it.

Can it be entirely disabled?

I am getting slow timers from MYSQL:

[Wed Feb 20 19:00:56 2019] [hphp] [13524:7fb8dcfff700:26:000001] [] SlowTimer [1343ms] at runtime/ext_mysql: slow query: SELECT SQL_CALC_FOUND_ROWS wp_posts.ID FROM wp_posts INNER JOIN wp_postmeta ON ( wp_posts.ID = wp_postmeta.post_id ) WHERE 1=1 AND ( \n wp_postmeta.meta_key = ‘post_views_count’\n) AND wp_posts.post_type = ‘post’ AND ((wp_posts.post_status = ‘publish’)) GROUP BY wp_posts.ID ORDER BY wp_postmeta.meta_value+0 DESC LIMIT 0, 3

Hi,

Please notice that the speed of your website depends on how well your site is optimized.

Notice that is not a simple task and if you do not have any experience in this regard you will do not bring good results for the theme. Also, notice that we have a speed optimization tutorial but this is addressed only to advanced users. So, if you follow the steps which are presented in this tutorial here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-make-the-site-faster/ you can increase the page speed loading and if you are not aware of the steps in this regard, please consider hiring a freelancer/developer to help you because the speed optimization services are not covered by our support policy, as you can read here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/support-policy-2/ Check our documentation here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/requirements-for-newspaper/ regarding on dedicated server to fit our requirements.

Unfortunately, our theme does not have such an option to minify the style.css file and we cannot recommend any plugins with this functionality because is not tested with our theme. For minifying this file, we are using CloudFlare for our demo and works fine. If you want to read other views from our users, please check this topic -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/tip-how-to-easily-minify-your-css-without-breaking-your-site/
Also, check all of your Ad Spots and if you have entered any suspicious code through them, remove all of them and check the results without them.

One of our top members here on the forum wrote his own optimization tutorial here:
https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/tutorial-chriss-custom-optimizations-for-functions-php-etc/ and here -> https://www.infophilic.com/get-almost-100-pagespeed-newspaper-theme/

Basically, these are the theme requirements
https://forum.tagdiv.com/requirements-for-newspaper/

Another useful guide for increasing the page speed can be found here -> https://kinsta.com/blog/google-pagespeed-insights/

Lately, Google Page Speed Insight seems to change the layout and is not always reliable.

Thanks for your understanding!

Hi,

Please notice that’s not a problem which comes from our theme, sorry! Please keep in mind that AMP is a built-in plugin which was optimized and integrate into our theme according to the official requirements so far. It would be preferable that you use large images on your site to get the best results. More recently, it seems that Google has put these warnings for the images which are less than 1200 pixels wide (likewise, the height of portrait images should be at least 1200 pixels). The best solution, in this case, would be to manually replace your old image with another one which has minimum 1200px wide, sorry! For more information about this case, you can check the following topic here -> https://tehnoblog.org/how-to-fix-google-search-console-amp-image-size-smaller-than-recommended-in-wordpress/ because this aspect has also been discussed here.

Thanks for your understanding!

i am working with the Newspaper-Theme and i really love its.
Since we are building a video news platform i want to optimize the video solution.

I used in the passed the “Feature Videos” field to embed the video.
How can i change here the default player?

I am testing right now some players like FV, JW-Player and Brightcove. But for all solutions i need to add the shortcode inside the article field.

Is there an option to change the videoplayer setting in the code so that i can just add in the source in the featured video field?

Thanks for your feedback in advance.
Best regards

Hi Catalin! Thank you for your response.

You are right, it’s not a bug, but the latest update is using much resources from server.
In this guide you are suggesting that WP_MEMORY_LIMIT parameter should be set to at least 256MB, but for me 256MB were not enough (on the previous version were enough but not after updating to version 9.5). After I increased that value to 512MB the error was gone.

I’m sure that you guys will optimize the theme in the new versions that will come (overall the theme is using a lot of resources).

See option 5 here on how to set it up https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-make-the-site-faster/ (I don’t use it and prefer autoptimize or fast velocity minify).

I have tried the single post cloud library but removed again. Poor update. It can’t add the customized sidebar, proper inline ads, widget, jetpack share button, more from author tab etc. While, for the single post template 1/2, the author name, date, and views aren’t aligned properly.

Even the autoload next post found at the extreme bottom. So, the mobile users won’t scroll up to footer once they read the article because they don’t know that the more posts (autoload) are below. The autoload feature must be like – next post title with an image just after the tagdiv social share buttons with continue reading tag.
The autoloading seems quite slow as well. Make it optimized preloading.

Hi,

So you cleared all caches (autoptimize) and also purged the data in the CDN you are using. I suggest that you try and deactivate the autoptimize plugin temporarily, see if that has any effect. There are indeed some layout issues also the images do not load.

I see some CSS classes that do not belong to the theme, tagDiv composer or WPBakery, removing what they add seem to solve the issue in the homepage
http://prntscr.com/mideil
How exactly was that page built? let me know.

Thanks
