FYI,
Yoast SEO has had numerous bugs, check the changelog sometime to see how many bugs they have had. My contention was simply that using Yoast SEO as a “comparator” to anything else related to bugs, is not a good metric.

So, you don’t need to debunk my statement, as it’s well known. Yoast has had numerous bugs which break the site, break other plugins, and major security flaws (where they finally hired a security firm to check them).

H1 is useful on home page; H2 also useful for topical elements such as section heads, but not so much for story heads ad they are ephemeral; meaning, they change daily, so they are not sticky and therefore not relevant to long-term, long-tail SERPS placement.

The “home page” is typically not “critical” for SEO, as you want your “post” to rank higher than your home page for a specific story, including the title and excerpt, so causing them to fight each other is un-wise.

I only speak as an SEO expert having been building websites since March 1995, and widely interviewed on SEO topics by Entrepreneur, PCWorld, Monster.com, etc. And we had a highly successful SEO business for 10 years with over 2 million #1 positions in Google and Yahoo for our clients. And, oh yeah, I have two Harvey Measurement Awards for “most responsive advertising,” and a design award from Apple Computer, Inc. for marketing campaigns for Apple retail products in California, and built Oprah Winfrey’s ecom solution for her “Begin with Love” video series; but what the hell do I know?

TagDiv does provide the tools to add H1 tags to any home page and it should be up to any theme user / site developer to manage their own SEO practices. It could be needlessly confusing to have a built in H1 element on the home page template as there is no default home page template technically, since the presumption is you would be “rolling your own.” So this would require yet another set of code to check if home page and insert something in header, have toggles for on/off, and remove code for those doing their own H1 placement as we have done with WP for 10 years now. Frankly if folks can’t be aware of SEO for their own site, they are generally not that worried about it — and these are often same folk not reading the WP codex to learn how to set permalinks, etc.

One might also argue it’s useful to inspect the demo of a theme before buying it, then using it, then posting numerous times how bad it is or buggy, vs. requesting possible changes politely?

These are just my thoughts, having used Newspaper for almost 2 years now, and have great traffic, great SEO, and placement in Google News, Bing News, and syndicated worldwide through major information systems like LexisNexis, etc.

But that’s just me. Your mileage, as in all things, will vary.

You can set you sidebar for post from theme panel > template settings: http://screencast.com/t/7Clm0jfj8 also if you’re using a custom sidebar for a category page, it should be displayed also on the articles from that specific category.
Please provide more details and a link if this doesn’t help.

Сегодня обновил тему NewsPaper до версии 6.3 и очень обрадовался, так как был добавлен очень нужный функционал для работы с Custom Post Type и Custom Taxonomy. Довольно тщательно его протестировал, пока работает чётко, без ошибок и это круто! )

Правда, не хватило нескольких возможностей, о которых напишу ниже в порядке их важности по убыванию.

1. Для одного Custom Post Type я использую несколько Custom Taxonomies и столкнулся с такой проблемой, что в настройках “CATEGORY SPOT TAXONOMY” и “TAG SPOT TAXONOMY” http://prntscr.com/7thcat можно выбирать только одну Custom Taxonomy. Эти настройки отлично работают, но хотелось бы иметь возможность выбирать несколько Custom Taxonomies для вывода их на сайте в нужных блоках “CATEGORY SPOT TAXONOMY” или “TAG SPOT TAXONOMY”.

2. При настройке блоков и других элементов в VC не нашёл настроек фильтрации по Custom Taxonomy. Наверное, данный функционал пока ещё находится в разработке ) В нужных модулях VC у меня без проблем получается выводить записи из Custom Post Type, но очень не хватает точной фильтрации по Custom Taxonomy.

3. При настройке Post Template для Custom Taxonomy я сначала немного запутался, экспериментируя с шаблонами single.php, но потом понял, что данная настройка http://prntscr.com/7thgr1 применяется одинаково для всех записей типа post. В принципе это не очень мешает, но было бы логичнее разделить настройки Post Template для Default Post Type (Blog) и для Custom Post Type.

4. Ну и последнее, в разделе “CPT & Taxonomy” в настройках “Custom post types” можно очень удобно настроить категории и теги для Custom Post Type, но почему-то нет возможности сделать это для Default Post Type (Blog), думаю, многим бы она пригодилась )

Возможно я чего-то ещё недосмотрел или не так понял, буду рад, если дадите хороший совет!

OK. I’m slowly learning this forum and regularly find on it a lot of new and useful information for practical work. I will follow the development of your page builder. )

Today, the theme NewsPaper updated to version 6.3 and was very happy, as was added much needed functionality to work with Custom Post Type and Custom Taxonomy. Rather it carefully tested while working accurately, without mistakes and that’s cool! )

However, not enough several possibilities, of which I will write below in order of descending importance.

1. For a Custom Post Type I use multiple Custom Taxonomies and faced with such a problem, in settings “CATEGORY SPOT TAXONOMY” and “TAG SPOT TAXONOMY” http://prntscr.com/7thcat you can choose only one Custom Taxonomy. These settings work fine, but I would like to be able to select multiple Custom Taxonomies to display them on the site in the required blocks “CATEGORY SPOT TAXONOMY” or “TAG SPOT TAXONOMY”.

2. When setting blocks and other elements in the VC did not find the settings for filtering Custom Taxonomy. Probably, this functionality is still in development. ) The relevant modules VC I have no problem turns out to display records from the Custom Post Type, but are lacking in precision filtering Custom Taxonomy.

3. When configuring the Post Template for Custom Taxonomy I first bit confused, experimenting with patterns single.php, but then I realized that this setting http://prntscr.com/7thgr1 applies equally to all types of records post. In principle, it is not a botherbut it would be more logical to divide the Post Template settings for the Default Post Type (Blog) for Custom Post Type.

4. And finally, in the section “CPT & Taxonomy” settings “Custom post types” can be very convenient to adjust the categories and tags for Custom Post Type, but for some reason it is not possible to do so for the Default Post Type (Blog), thinkmany would have it handy. )

Maybe I’m something else overlooked or misunderstood, I will be glad if you give good advice!

You’re using page builder with latest as page template, which means that the page will be built from two parts: the content and the latest article. On your homepage the latest article are pushed down because of the

What you said did help, somewhat. http://www.gomerblog.com/pics/screenshot2.jpg look how the big grid is now staggered? I tried all 3 page settings. I wish I could just use a template but when I do I get the original problem I stated before. I have disabled all the plugins and still get this issue. Thanks again for your help

Thanks for reply. Yes, using version 4 for now. Tried different templates but originally set up with “Homepage blank” and worked fine.

The row is 2/3 + 1/3 with a Slide at the top. Below is another two columns (in same row) that are 1/2 + 1/2. We did not change those settings and was working/displaying fine for a month or two. If we create a new column on a new page (or new row on same page), it seems to work. Once it comes near the slide (TD) now it splits.

I’m using the latest version of Newspaper 4 and the latest version of Visual Composer included with that build to create a page with Big Slider using Homepage – blank template, no parent . My Big slider is not showing any images/posts even though all of my posts use featured images. I followed all of your instructions:

1. Made sure my images are large enough
2. Regenerated thumbnails
3. Cleared cache
4. No CDN plugin
5. Posts are in “Featured” category

I hope you can help me find a resolution.

If you’re referring at this blog: http://demo.tagdiv.com/newsmag_classic_blog/ you can try to use module 1 that will display entire post content but you can add from wordpres in every post the read more button where you want to stop displaying the content in homepage, like here: http://screencast.com/t/fdekkT2jVj
