For more information about this fix, you can consult our documentation here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/thumbnails-fix-strange-looking-images-on-blocks/ Also, you should disable the lazy load effect from Theme panel -> http://screencast.com/t/qqoGorkdA if you are using this effect and also, if you are using some untested plugins, you should disable all of them and install only the plugins that come bundled with the theme packet and rule out any conflicting plugins.

The image may be too small or it’s not regenerated.
For regeneration use Force Regenerate Thumbnails plugin – https://wordpress.org/plugins/force-regenerate-thumbnails/
If this doesn’t help you have to use a larger image or use a plugin like Thumbnail Upscale – https://wordpress.org/plugins/thumbnail-upscale/

The Slider element was not meant to be full width, so you have to do some custom work in order to achieve this. First you need to stretch the row containing the Slider – http://screencast.com/t/DmKqDNKXorX Then add this css in Theme Panel->Custom Css

As you can see the image thumb displayed in the slider is still the default size used by the slider element – http://screencast.com/t/bFCcimlnqY only stretched. To modify the thumb to a custom size so it will look better, you have to edit the td_api_thumb found here – http://screencast.com/t/iyhNuouo2PGn coresponding to the Slider on 3 columns. You will have to upload bigger images so there is room to cut the image in the bigger size. The theme will not create a bigger image. It will grab the maximum size it can but if there is no bigger image uploaded it will still show the same size as the previous thumb. For example. You have an image thjat is 696 x 480 for example. The thumb used on posts is 696 x 0 and for retina you would need a double size image. Welkl the theme cannot create the double size from a small image. Add a size of 1920 x 1080 instead of 696 x 480 and then you will see a difference. You can make sthis test with existing images on very small thumbs where you will see a before and after result without uploading a bigger image. Make sure you also clear cache after you regenerate thumbs though

Well the script was successful if it says you should regenerate thumbs. It seems there is no success message after all. I have just tested it again (sorry but version 4 is very old and we haven’t tested anything on it in a long time :)) The process is completed and you can move on and check your site. If your site disaplays fine, then the process is complete.
Please note that some items will have to be recreated using the new elements in visual composer.

Please take a look over the below explanation and try to understand a bit how it works the thumbs in the theme. Please check here ->>
Our theme uses the system of cropping from center to top. The theme uses thumbs to reduce the page size and speed up page loading time. From each image uploaded are generated thumbs for each thumb size utilized by the theme. When a post it’s displayed on the page in a block, the featured image shown is not the one which you uploaded in the media file, it’s a thumb cropped from the original image at the precise dimension. To change the picture orientation most likely you will need a different cropping system. We use a WordPress function – add_image_size() – you can read about it here – https://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/add_image_size – and here – http://www.davidtan.org/wordpress-hard-crop-vs-soft-crop-difference-comparison-example/
Our theme crop (cut) thumbnails in some cases to avoid creating a lot of thumbnails to reduce to load more spaces on the server.
If you don’t have the possibility to upload large images you could use a combination of plugins to upscale the thumbs – Thumbnail Upscale and Force Regenerate. Sorry but here is a side by side comparison between the 2 images mobile and desktop:

It is the exact same image. I cannot see any blurriness between the 2.
If you truly see differences in quality between mobile and desktop, you will have to remove any optimization plugins that you may be using, reduce image compression, and regenerate thumbnails. Then test again.
You can also try to disable all plugins except visual composer, clear cache and reset cdn files if you use it. Then check images again. There could be a plugin affecting the image quality.

You use module 16 to display your articles on OBITUARIES category. Module 16 uses the wordpress thumbnail and not one generated by the theme and you can control it’s size from wordpress settings – http://screencast.com/t/oBz9lqNf – http://screencast.com/t/oIIOIkkyloNk and regenerate your thumbnails(you can do some test only for a single image).
Or you can try to change the module used on the specific category and try for example module 19 maybe it respects more the aspect ratio of your images – http://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/category/module-19-layout/
