Hello playmyrequest,

I have checked your website, and I did not saw any problems with your featured images. So, please provide some useful screenshots where to explain this issue. Also, you should try suing the Force Regenerate Plugin to regenerate the thumbs, clear all your caches and check the results.

Thanks for your understanding!

Found a solution with Regenerate Thumbnails plugin.

Okay, it went through all of the images and it didn’t seem to fix the problem. However, most of the resizes were errors. Only 261 out of the 774 images on the site were successfully resized. Still can’t see many of the thumbnails from new posts. Almost all of the Googling and forum searching I’ve done on this recommends using the regenerate thumbnails plugin, so I’m sort of out of ideas. Any further suggestions?

a) disable all plugins except VC
b) install theme and plugins via FTP
c) clear caching if used
d) clear transients with wp-optimize
e) resave permalinks
f) make sure you have at least 256M allocated to WP in your wp-config.php file and php.ini on hosting, for busy site can be higher depending on your hosting plan; 96M minimum needed for VC *default is 40M // you can check this on the system status panel in theme settings
g) note you need to then actually setup your site using a custom home page; then select that ‘page’ as the homepage in WP settings > set static page
h) you will need to regenerate thumbs to fit pages
i) you need to go through the theme panel settings and set defaults for page/category templates, post templates

** note any custom CPTs, plugins, shortcodes from former theme likely don’t work in the new theme as ‘shortcodes’ are styles included with theme not WordPress so don’t carry over, etc.

If site not working while you learn how it works, setup dev folder and import site, then test there prior to deploy.

If you can’t get anything to work; roll your site back to former theme/plugins, and resurrect your dbase from the last backup.

All common sense stuff. Good luck!

Hello GuideMoba.Com,

Please ensure that you are using the latest version of the theme which come bundled with the theme packet and if you are using some untested plugins, please try to disable all of them and install only the plugins that come bundled with the theme and rule out any conflicting plugins. If you have some additional customization through the theme please try to disable all of them, revert the theme to the default state and check the results. Also, you should regenerate your thumbnails using the Force Regenerate Plugin and Force Regenerate plugin. For more information about this fix, you can consult our documentation here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/thumbnails-fix-strange-looking-images-on-blocks/

Hope this helps and let us know how it goes!

Hello,

It seems there is something affecting the thumbs and making a few of them 1×1 px. That is why you cannot see it. The thumb does not get used at all. You should make sure you have this thumb active in the theme panel: http://screencast.com/t/m60wiEhqTaVk and then use this guide to regenerate your thumbs: https://forum.tagdiv.com/thumbnails-fix-strange-looking-images-on-blocks/

Thank you!

Hello,

There are clearly problems on your site. The first would be the page speed that is very very slow. Please disable all plugins except visual composer, clear cache and reset cdn files. This should fix most of your issues.
Next, please regenerate thumbs using this guide: https://forum.tagdiv.com/thumbnails-fix-strange-looking-images-on-blocks/
As for the articles with no images, there is a placeholder for the case where the post has no featured image. Please add featured images to your posts using the default theme featured image implementation: https://forum.tagdiv.com/featured-image/

Thank you!

Hello meinPeKaWe,

This is the only way to do this. Try to change the image or also, try to re-upload it and regenerate again and check the results.

Thanks for the message!

Hello meinPeKaWe,

I have checked your website on Firefox and I saw that the images on the Slider are not working as properly. Please try to use the Thumbnail Regenerate and Force regenerate, according to our documentation here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/thumbnails-fix-strange-looking-images-on-blocks/

Hope this helps and let us know how it goes!

Thanks for your understanding!

Hi,

As mentioned in the title only the top half is visible in my category thumbs.
I checked block settings, regenerated all thumbnails (more then once). Doesn’t work.

Couldn’t find the solution on the forum.

Thnx for helping me out.

Are you sure the thumbs are active for the theme panel: http://screencast.com/t/qRnU7bSpvELE
Your site is not using a thumbnail on the slide. It uses the full image. Please make sure the thumbs are active and regenerate all thumbs after you activate thumbs.
thanks

Hello,

Well it’s best to keep the aspect ratio as close to the grid aspect ratio as possible so your images will not get cropped as much. The grid is almost square but your image is wide Here is a list of thumbnails used by our theme so you can have a general idea of the image sizes that will fit best: https://forum.tagdiv.com/theme-thumbs/
Also please regenerate your thumbs by using this guide: https://forum.tagdiv.com/thumbnails-fix-strange-looking-images-on-blocks/

Thank you!

We use the free ‘thumbnail upscale’ plugin, as WordPress cannot “enlarge” images for thumbs by default, stupidly, even though the image library on web server supports it.

Try that with regenerate thumbnails. 🙂

Hi,

Two things, for our website http://www.feelingsuccess.com, the images sometimes look distorted, as we had hundreds of images on the site before installing this new theme that were smaller than the thumbnail size. We’ve tried “regenerate thumbnails” plugin but it didn’t seem to work.

Also, even though our setting is set to randomize articles, for some reason they are not randomizing. Any support would be appreciated.

Thanks,

I figured it out.

It was the uploads and enclosed folder permissions. They need to be 777 in order for the Force Regenerate Thumbnails plugin to delete and create the new ones.

It all works now.

ehorses you should check your permissions.
You can read more about it here – https://codex.wordpress.org/Changing_File_Permissions

Thanks tagdiv for the great theme! Looking at your code, I understand how much work you have and why the support is a bit delayed with the answering.

Cheers!

I have the exact same problem.

My thumbs are all active and I did a regeneration with the “Thumbnail Regenerate” plugin but the theme keeps using the original images instead of the proper sized thumbnails for each block.

I am looking in the uploads folder now and I can’t see the needed sizes. It’s like it hasn’t generated them at all.

Can you give us a clue where the problem might be?

Thanks,
Mariyan

P.S. Also the thumbs from my old theme are still there. I want to delete those. Is there a way ?

Hello,

It seems you did not regenerate thumbnails after switching themes. Please use this guide https://forum.tagdiv.com/thumbnails-fix-strange-looking-images-on-blocks/
Please also make sure all your thumbnails are active in this section of the theme panel: http://screencast.com/t/KXLeJg81
Also please try to remove any image optimization tools such as photon or other plugins related to images as they could interfere in the theme grabbing the proper thumbnail.

Thank you!

Hello feelingsuccess,

Please notice that the theme does not enlarge the image to fit its space in full width. It will just be displayed the images in the original size.
If you don’t have the possibility to upload large images you could use a combination of plugins to upscale the thumbs – Thumbnail Upscale and Force Regenerate. For more information about these kinds of plugins, please consult their documentation here -> https://wordpress.org/plugins/thumbnail-upscale/ -> https://wordpress.org/plugins/regenerate-thumbnails/ Also, please ensure that the functionalities of these plugins are not affected by the other untested plugins that could create interference through the theme. Please notice that these types of plugins are not tested with our theme and we cannot provide support for the theme. We recommend them because a lot of our customer uses and they were satisfied to their functionality.

Hello ehores,

Also, please notice that each block uses a specific thumb which crops the each featured image from your posts.
Please take a look over the below explanation and try to understand a bit how it works the thumbs in the theme. Please check here ->>
Our theme uses the system of cropping from center to top. The theme uses thumbs to reduce the page size and speed up page loading time. From each image uploaded are generated thumbs for each thumb size utilized by the theme. When a post it’s displayed on the page in a block, the featured image shown is not the one which you uploaded in the media file, it’s a thumb cropped from the original image at the precise dimension. To change the picture orientation most likely you will need a different cropping system. We use a WordPress function – add_image_size() – you can read about it here – https://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/add_image_size – and here – http://www.davidtan.org/wordpress-hard-crop-vs-soft-crop-difference-comparison-example/
Our theme crop (cut) thumbnails in some cases to avoid creating a lot of thumbnails to reduce to load more spaces on the server.
Hello,

thats what we did already.
We activated the thumbnails and installed and used the plugin” regenerate thumbnails”..it says “all done”, but its still not working…

what can we do else?

Bogdan B.
tagDiv Staff

Hello,

You need to make sure the images are larger than the thumb itself. If your images are wide, they cannot show properly in a square thumbnail. Pleas make sure your images are as close to the aspect ration of the block as possible. And then regenerate your thumbs.

Thank you!

Hello aspirin29,

First of all, ensure that your system status is increased to the higher value according to our documentation here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/system-status-parameters-guide/ Also, you can try to regenerate your thumbnails with Force Regenerate plugins, clear all your caches and check the results.
If the problem is still there, please send us an email at contact@tagdiv.com with your log-in information (wp-admin), so we can further inspect it closer your setup page. Provide there the link to this topic so we can easily identify you.

Hello,

we have some realy bad problems with the images.
We uploaded a few images, but doens’t matter which size they don’t fit into the grids. We know that they don’t fit perfectly into each Grid, but they seems to be to small, everytime you can see a grey background behind the images in the grids.
How can we set the settings that they fit automatically?
We already tried out the Regenerate Thumbnails Plugin, but it doesn’t work out.

You can have aloo here:

Hello,

Changing the thumb size of the related articles will not be an easy task. You will have to change the code for the element and change the thumbnail used on that element. http://screencast.com/t/NIjbgnaPGJ
You can change the thumb to another one from this file: http://screencast.com/t/f1gUfDoM
Then you have to regenerate thumbs for it to show up properly.

Thank you!
