Hey guys. Will try to explain this as best I can. It might be long, don’t fall asleep 🙂

Last week I started having trouble with uploading media such as the featured images –was getting an “Http Error”.

On “larger” images 125k+ was getting “Internal Server Error” (see images included in folder link below)

Tried both WP image upload methods and still had the problem.

I thought it might be a server problem timing out or something. I Called the host company GoDaddy, they found no problem.

I then turned off ALL plugins and the problem still continued.

Then, I uninstalled the NewsMag Theme and put in the generic WP theme and the uploading problem was solved.

Reinstalled NewsMag and it started again.

I managed to get some images to upload but… Oddly… when they do upload, the file name but not the actual thumbnail preview appears in the in the library.

I ran the Regenerate Thumbnail plugin on individual images and that fixed it –I was able to post normally.

With the most recent post though, I can’t get it to appear on mobile (yes more complicated! haha)

I sent three images below for you to see.

One is of the post. You can see the main image of the girl with glasses smiling. When I try to post on Facebook, it’s not reading the featured image.

And in the other screenshot I sent you can see that the featured image is not appearing on in the Block (it does on PC but not on mobile –tried Safari and Chrome and cleared caches on both.

In other words, I’ve tried everything and something is still wrong.

Hope its’ something small I missed and you can help me out! here is the site http://www.everydaydiabetes.com

Love your service and your themes.

If you need a login, tell me where to send that info to you.

THANKS as always guys.

Hello kapson,

I have checked your website and saw the problem with the thumbnail. For some posts you do not have the thumbnail and is shown only the image. Please try to regenerate your Thumbnails with this plugin and check after if your problem is still there. For more information about these problems, please check our documentation here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/thumbnails-fix-strange-looking-images-on-blocks/ Please clear cache and purge your files if you use CDN.

Hope this helps and let us know how it goes!

Thank you for the message!

Hi,

I checked disabling plugins also but seems not worked.

But I noticed one thing after installing new theme, the new posts thumbs are loading properly, only old posts thumbnails are looking garbage.

should I need to regenerate all thumbnails for new theme? (like this tutorial: https://forum.tagdiv.com/existing-content/)

kindly help me decide so I can try it.

thanks

Hi,
The posts are different than the stretched row in visual composer. They are coded to work that way. The stretch row option comes from visual composer not the theme so that is why the option exists. Not all elements will be able to stretch along with the row unfortunately. Sorry!
As for the thumbnail upscale plugin, you will need to regenerate your thumbs for it to work.
Thanks.

Hi,
You need to use the thumbnail upscale plugin together with ‘force regenerate’. You need to regenerate you thumbs again for the upscale to take effect. Please also try this without other plugins (disable all other ones except visual composer, thumbnail upscale and force regenerate) so you can avoid plugin conflicts.
Thanks.

Yes Chris, I did read your post but it’s possible the upscale plugin was deactivated when I uploaded that particular image. I will monitor future uploads and results keeping upscale on. Thanks.

So far I can understand upscale will do its magic on new uploads, but what about the hundreds of other images that are already uploaded and attached? (I have switched to Newspaper from another theme). To keep my old thumbnails I have used the Regenerate thumbnails plugins. Do you think if instead I use Force Regenerate it will make a difference? The problem of white space only appears on Grids, not on post pages. The same featured images look full width on posts if I changes the Post setting to show them as such.

Hello,

I regenerated thumbmails, checked all plugins, and nothing is working. This was never an issue. The dimensions of the images are all above and beyond what is required to fill the spaces.

Also the upscale plugin does not work.

Any other ideas?

Hi.

I´m loving this theme but I am having a problem with Big grid 4 and 5. Whenever using them as they are images show just fine at homepage. But when using the “stretch row and content” function images do not scale according to the box. They leave a grey area to the right of the image.
Should he image not be able to zoom in ti fit into the box? I think it happened that way before but now it don´t work.

I have regenerated thumbnails and also uploaded the images several times and they 1920×1080 px.

Site is http://www.windroid.se/
Thanks

Hello,
This is not a problem but a feature. Our theme uses different thumb sizes for every picture in order to decrease loading times. Here is a list of thumbnails used by our theme: https://forum.tagdiv.com/theme-thumbs/
Imagine if the theme would load the full size image every time it loaded the homepage (which contains lots of small images) that would be a very very slow page to load.
In order to remove the unused thumbnails you need to figure out exactly what elements you use on your website and simply remove the thumbnail from here: http://screencast.com/t/LNrJhB7UeAe After this operation you need to use the “force regenerate” plugin.
I hope this helps.
Thanks.

Hello,
All images are being cropped center-top in our themes. This is the way our theme cropps images. This can be seen here: https://forum.tagdiv.com/featured-image/
If for any reason this cropping does not work on your end, then you should disable all plugins except visual composer and regenerate your thumbnails using the force regenerate plugin.
Thank you!

Hello,

Unfortunately this update from such an old version will be like switching to a whole different theme. Lots of things have changed in the meantime.
1)
a. You can turn off the slider animation from the lazyload setting: http://screencast.com/t/1e7GmiXoK3r
b. You can use this custom css to remove it only from the big mkodule:
.td_module_mx9 .td-post-author-name{
display:none!important;
}

c. The images are to blame here, not the grid itself. You need to regenerate your thumbnails using the “force regenerate’ plugin
2) Unfortunately the gallery format was removed so if you have double images n your posts, you will either have to remove the doubles by hand or use post style 5 which does not display the featured image.
3) This is the position of the pagination in the current theme. Please check how it should display on our live demo here: http://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/
4) Unfortunately the article titles in modules and blocks can only be changed with css as the theme has no option to change their color. (you can change the active hover color from visual composer block settings as seen on our demo homepage.)
You can use this code to change the titles:
.td_module_wrap .entry-title a{
color:blue!important
}

I hope this helps.
Thank you!

Hello srampia,

The problem with block 1 happens due you do not use a correct image in for this kind of thumb, as you can see in this screenshot -> http://screencast.com/t/2hj5uR1b In order to achieve best results, please consult the guide below ->

Our theme uses a lot of predefined thumbnails in blocks and modules. If you check the Theme panel->Block settings area you can see the list with all dimensions of the thumbs wich is used in the theme and which elements -> blocks/modules uses -> http://screencast.com/t/tQuimSer9 If you want to exclude the cropping system wich you have to use the right dimension for your images.

Our theme uses the system of cropping from center to top. The theme uses thumbs to reduce the page size and speed up page loading time. From each image uploaded are generated thumbs for each thumb size used by the theme. Basically, when a post it’s displayed on the page in a block, the featured image displayed is not the one which you uploaded in the media file, it’s a thumb cropped from the original image at the precise dimension. To change the picture orientation most likely you will need a different cropping system. We use a WordPress function – add_image_size() – you can read about it here – https://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/add_image_size – and here – http://www.davidtan.org/wordpress-hard-crop-vs-soft-crop-difference-comparison-example/
Our theme crop (cut) thumbnails in some cases to avoid creating a lot of thumbnails in order to reduce to load more spaces on the server.
If you don’t have the possibility to upload large images you could use a combination of plugins to upscale the thumbs – Thumbnail Upscale and Force Regenerate.

Also, please try to disable all the active plugins, leave just Visual Composer, clear all cache and install only the plugins that come bundled with our theme and rule out the conflicting plugins.

Hope this helps and let us know how it goes!

Thank you for the message!

Hi

Try to deactivate all plugins except Visual Composer, clear all caches and test again. Also try to regenerate all thumbnails as seams that the theme use some images which are not cropped. Here is a guide in this regard: https://forum.tagdiv.com/thumbnails-fix-strange-looking-images-on-blocks/
Let us know how it goes and if the problem persist please send us an email at contact@tagdiv.com with your login credentials and we will inspect this issue as soon as possible, also include a link to this topic.

Thanks!

Hi,
The only place the thumbnails are being controlled is here: http://screencast.com/t/mbliRB6f0nP (blue is on, grey is off)
After you edit these options you need to regenerate thumbs using a plugin. Please do this and if your plugins still are not getting generated, send us an email at contact@tagdiv.com and provide wp-admin and ftp access so we can inspect this issue closer. Please also include a link to this topic.
Thank you!

Hi,
The thumbnail regenerate plugins usually work with our theme as we have no reports of problems with these plugins. If you do not want to use force regenerate, you can follow Chris’ advice anytime as he has lots of experience with WP and our themes.
Thank you!

FYI
I use thumbnail upscale as a ‘helper’ for WordPress as it fixes issue where WP turns off support for “enlarging” images such as for home page slider, etc. You can leave this active all the time.

I use “Regenerate Thumbnails” and works great on all my sites/server.

Some people use “Force Regenerate” if the regular one doesn’t work.

You can turn off the regen plugin(s) until you need them. Even remove them entirely after the initial run 🙂

Hi,
You need to make sure you have the thumbnails active for that particular module as Edward showed above. Then you need to regenerate your thumbnails using the “force regenerate” plugin.
Thank you!
