Hi! I have a quick question. The thumbnails on my homescreen (in the blocks) are all blurry, and I’m unsure why? I uploaded high quality PNG files, and I run the “Regenerate Thumbnails” regularly when I make changes. Any idea why they don’t look sharper? (a few of them do, while the rest are blurry. That’s why it’s confusing)

Thank you!

Thanks a lot Andrei.

The problem was related to the thumbnail sizes, i found a tutorial in the TagDiv documentation, and it just worked perfect (regenerate-thumbnails plugin) so far now its ok.

I’ve swaped big grid to a “Masonry Grid: Blur Out” and it makes the trick with the exerpts.

Tomorrow i am going to check again for the categories main pages, i figured a possibly error in my sintaxys while adding the css.

But I want to ask you what to do with the modules if, i want that the excerpt shows only when the user pass his/her mouse over the Gridś Thumbnail?.

Thanks a lot again!

Hi,

Please try to regenerate thumbnails to fix this issue – http://screencast.com/t/hKa29E3AB8https://forum.tagdiv.com/existing-content/ Also note that the featured image should have at least the sizes of thumb’s container, because WordPress doesn’t enlarges images. If you use smaller images you will have to use a plugin like Thumbnail Upcale in combination with Force Regenerate you can find more details regarding this here – https://forum.tagdiv.com/thumbnails-vs-featured-image-size/https://forum.tagdiv.com/thumbnails-fix-strange-looking-images-on-blocks/
Also please provide more details about the author picture. Do you refer to this? – http://screencast.com/t/M8DLf3AFBOa
We recommend Wp User Avatar plugin to add a custom picture for author, we use it also on our demo.

Thanks!

Hello,
The thumbnail upscale plugin and force regenerate method should work if you cannot upload bigger images. The process is done automatically, you do not need to edit every photo.
If everything else fails you can try to disable all your plugins except visual composer to rule out a plugin conflict.
Thank you!

Hi,

Please try to regenerate thumbnails and see if you still have this issue – https://forum.tagdiv.com/using-the-theme-with-existing-content/ Please note that the featured image should have at least the sizes of thumb’s container, because WordPress doesn’t enlarges images.

1. You can add background color to the row or column – http://screencast.com/t/rHdQhbEewU please check this topic as reference – https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/background-in-header/
2. Also the non-parent category(without subcategories) can be made megamenu please check documentation – https://forum.tagdiv.com/mega-menu/
3. Yes it is possible, just use the default page template and set infinte load for last block from your content – http://screencast.com/t/3UaBmanKm8l
4. You can disable author box from Theme Panel > Post Settings – http://screencast.com/t/y1IKgjON

Thanks!

Hi gck,

Also, as said above @Chris S, please use a plugin to regenerate your thumbnails, as like Force Regenerate and the problem should be solved. https://ro.wordpress.org/plugins/force-regenerate-thumbnails/

Hope this helps and let us know how it goes!

Thank you!

Thank Ing Geek,
But I used the automatic posting and I can not be editing image in the post. It is completely automatic.
I have installed as your guide:
– Force Regenerate Thumbnails
– Easy Thumbnail Sizes
– Thumbnail Upscale
But it had not worked.
You have no other way?
Thank you !

i told you!. you need regenerate your thumbnails. Install force regenerate thumnails and run it. Thats all you need :-P.

If you made changues in CSS you are just upscaling images via CSS but its no croped at correct size.

a) perhaps post in Newspaper forum for faster reply
b) you often have to regenerate thumbnails when changing themes — NP6 is an all new theme from NP4

Hi,
Each block use a different image size and on some thumbnails the aspect ratio could be different. If you want to change the image size on a module/block:

Duplicate a section like this and change with size you want: http://screencast.com/t/PtYwy4374
Go to Modules folder and change with the new image size: http://screencast.com/t/8crjXgZ2
Go to Theme Panel -> Block Settings -> Thumbs on modules & blocks and activate the new image sizes http://screencast.com/t/RhyxDxDjrB

At the end you need to regenerate you thumbnails to get the new image size using a plugin like: AJAX Thumbnail Rebuild

Thanks for the message!

Hi

1. We don’t have any shortcodes for related articles sections.
2. If your featured images are smaller that the thumb you can try to use Thumbnail Upscale to enlarge thumbnails and Force Regenerate, as the WordPress will not enlarge them.
Another way would be via css:

.page .entry-thumb {
width: 100%;
height: 100%;
}

Thanks!

Thanks, that makes sense. I made the changes, but now the alignment is odd and it looks like one column:

http://sandbox.resortsdaily.com/caribbean-resorts/anguilla/

Any ideas what might be causing this? I had adjusted thumbnail sizes awhile ago in td-config, but just reverted them back and regenerated thumbnails using the plugin. Not sure if this is what’s causing the problem.

Thanks!

Hello,
1) and 2) You can change the size of the thumbnail for different blocks/modules from here: http://screencast.com/t/Iei8sdmyw
You can see where the thumb size is used in the theme panel: http://screencast.com/t/Ko9yHuFtqoWQ
After you change a thumb size, please make sure you regenerate your thumbnails otherwise the modification will not apply.
3) You can make your modification “update proof” by using a child theme https://forum.tagdiv.com/the-child-theme-support-tutorial/, but this is not entirely update proof because if the file you use in your child theme gets changed in a future version of the theme, you will have to adjust it to the new file. There is no modification that will be entirely update proof.
4) Unfortunately we cannot offer custom work, not even paid one at the moment. You can hire a freelancer to make the customization you need from sites like studio.envato.com.
Thank you!

Why is this happening? I had regenerated images before starting with your theme (on an old site). And images work in some grids but not all.

How can I attach an Image?

Hello,

Please try to regenerate your thumbnails using the force regenerate plugin.
You can also try to disable all plugins except visual composer to rule out a plugin conflict.
If the problem is still there please send an email at contact@tagdiv.com with your login information so we can take a closer look. Please also include a link to this topic so we know who you are and what the problem is.

Thank you

Hi

Indeed the WordPress themes should work with various plugins, but however in same cases appear conflicts between some scripts which causes issues. You should chose very carefully what plugins you’re using and how they will affect them’s functionality and also site’s performance.
From the pluginss that you mentioned we recommend only Regenerate thumbnails and Yoast SEO. The others aren’t tested with the theme and I am not aware of theirs functionality so I can’t say how will work with our theme.

Thanks!

You can tell the size changes when you go from homepage to article. I have to regenerate images because I lost the right side of featured images.

Thank you for the suggestions. I did as you said, and it worked…we were also having a problem with images appearing on our phones/tablets.

However, after I deactivated and cleared and saw the items needed, I then reactivated the various plug-ins as I believe we need them? and it went back to the same problems; i.e. can’t x out of more stories box and images do no appear.

Here are the few plug-ins we are using: BackupWP, Regenerate thumbnails, WordPress popular posts, WPRetina, WPbakery and Yoast SEO.

Our site is not live yet, still in testing, perhaps that is why you can’t access?

I am relatively new to WordPress, but I thought all themes would run with plug-ins?
thanks for any more insight you can provide.

I have regenerated all the thumbnails and checked all the options in the “Thumbs on modules and blocks” section. But the grey gradient appers in the images. I am using biggrid 3. Please inform me the image dimensions so that the image fits perfectly in the section.

Hi @teodormiu

Thank you for your kind words!
1. Try this guide and regenerate the thumbnails for all your images: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-fix-strange-thumbnails/ clear all caches and test again. If the image is large enough it should be displayed fine in thumbs.
2. If a post doesn’t have a featured image set the theme load a placeholder image when this option from theme panel is enabled: http://screencast.com/t/qXc9ADVOzKOf To set a custom image you need to add an image in /images/no-thumb directory: http://screencast.com/t/VBrS8hN53 then replace in get_image() function the name of the image like here: http://screencast.com/t/CYZRDHlJs
3. In order to identify the ideal/average size you need to figure out which is the largest container that will display that particular image and upload an image bigger than that container. Then there is the post template to consider. If you use post templates with big image backgrounds (style 6, 7 or 8), then your uploaded image has to be bigger (especially on style 8). You need to asses your website’s layout (posts and block elements) and come up with an average image size that will work on smaller containers but also keep good quality on bigger ones.
You can read more about thumbs and featured images here: https://forum.tagdiv.com/theme-thumbs/https://forum.tagdiv.com/featured-image/https://forum.tagdiv.com/thumbnails-vs-featured-image-size/

The theme uses thumbs to reduce the page size and speed up page loading time. From each image uploaded are generated thumbs for each thumb size used by the theme. Basically when a post it’s displayed on the page in a block, the featured image displayed is not the one which you uploaded in media file, it’s a thumb cropped from the original image at precise dimension. To change the picture orientation most likely you will need a different cropping system. We use a WordPress function – add_image_size() – you can read about it here – https://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/add_image_size – and here – http://www.davidtan.org/wordpress-hard-crop-vs-soft-crop-difference-comparison-example/

Hope this help.
Thanks!

I would like to define the maximum height for the featured image on posts with Style-3.

Actually I did expect that your theme already does that but I regenerated two test images and they sty in their uploaded aspect ratio.

Is this an error with the image?
Can I define a max height?

Bogdan B.

Hello,

Normally the theme crops 16:9 images as well as you can see in this screen: http://screencast.com/t/Sv07Wooz6
I used one of your images as featured image in a test grid.
I inspected your website and saw a part of the code that does not come from the theme: http://screencast.com/t/xqVrvg1ucVp Please make sure you do not use any image/thumbnail plugins.(Disable photon from jetpack as it is known to cause issues with our theme)
Please disable all your plugins, clear your cache and purge your cdn files. Then regenerate your thumbnails and see how it goes.
If the problem is still there afterwards please send an email at contact@tagdiv.com with your login information so we can take a look. Please also provide a link to this topic so we know who you are.

Thank you!

Dear Tagdiv,

Loving Newspaper!

I just noticed something: the featured image of a post (original size 660×385) is reduced to 324×189 pixels when shown in the sidebar of another page. See http://www.greenem.nl/wassymbolen-en-strijksymbolen/
It pertains to the featured image sourced from: http://www.greenem.nl/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/zonnepanelen-kopen-geld-660×385.png

That’s fine, as the original image is too big to fit in the sidebar. Except for one thing: the original image (518KB) is first loaded in its original size and forced by the browser to show only the reduced pixelsize. Which is still 518KB!

I read through the documentation and this board, but could not find this exact question.

Am I missing something? I thought the whole idea to upload the largest possible image size was to have WordPress reduce the bytesize as it resizes it to the appropriate pixelsizes like thumbnails.
Or should I periodically run the ‘force regenerate thumbnails’ plugin?

Kind regards,
Gijs
